The Ghost 206
What Era Would You Want It In? Like Another One Set In The 80s? Or One More Current? For Me I Would Like A 90s Version. 10 Years After Tommy Takes Over Vice City. Your Thoughts?
Zondar
I'm torn with this one. A lot of what made VC special was the time period and it would lose that out with an 80's setting. However, I'd really VI to link with the current map in GTAO and obvs that would be possible with an 80's setting. Raiden1018

The Dedito Gae
Claude exists in the HD universe. i'll need proofs besides being a "father" of some online character because according to your logic, John Marston also exists in gta universe. If he supposedly doesn't exist in the HD universe, then how is the online character supposed to exist (assuming the player chose Claude as their father)? I think John marston most likely exists in the GTA universe because they are both fictional titles. Personally I think the whole universe concept is really dumb and is just R* being too lazy to fix continuity errors.
hornedturtle
Imagine...you look upon a extremely long cutscene as niko is bowling with his cousin. You fall asleep and miss most the cutscene to see tommy cutting nikos head off with a katana. Tommy looks at the camera and says "you now work for me" chucks you a kilo of coke to deliver all across town in an ice cream truck. Sunrise Driver
i hope its not the 80's.. it'll ruin that special feeling gta vc has to me. LOLOLOL. It must be 80s. 1985 would be OK for more great music. Some mix of Miami Vice and Scarface again. And would be good to play as a cop.
DaWiesel
It must be 80s. No it don't have to be. They can do a modern VC and still put in 80's music, vehicles, clothing and neons. Also the amazing Miami skyline needs to be in the game which only works if it's set in modern day.

CarnageRacing00
I seriously doubt the series will ever go back in time again, unless for a brief story mode flash back mission. There are too many things that would have to be removed from the game to fit within a 60's setting, and Rockstar would no doubt catch flak for it. GTA-Biker
If GTA 6 is in VC,I would mostly like it to be in the 1980s again because of the nostalgia for VC and VCS and also because the 80s are the most iconic decade for Miami/Vice City, but I think it could also work in some other time periods(for example movie 2 Fast 2 Furious is set in Miami in early 2000s and movie Bad Boys is set in Miami in 1990s).I would also like to see some future GTA game set in 1970s. CarnageRacing00
If he supposedly doesn't exist in the HD universe, then how is the online character supposed to exist (assuming the player chose Claude as their father)? I think John marston most likely exists in the GTA universe because they are both fictional titles. But who's saying GTA Online or IV's multiplayer is cannon with single player? V's multi player IS canon with V's single player. The events of multi player take place before the events of single player. Throughout the story, there are DIRECT references to jobs that you've done online. Franklin gives Lamar sh*t about stealing gas tankers. Lester references your player character. Missions you do for Madrazo online tie directly into the things he has Michael, Trevor and Franklin do. What we all need to accept is that the GTA series has LOOSE canon. It's not a super tight consistent universe, and it's not really meant to be. There's no REASON for it to be - these are silly games, they're meant to be silly games, and that's all they should be. Hell, go play Vice City again. Sometimes when Tommy crashes into another car, he says "Dumb Florida Morons"... suggesting that Vice City is actually in Florida, not a fictional state... whereas San Andreas is a fictional state and California doesn't exist. The last message you get in GTA III says "See you in Miami!". The fictional cities and states in GTA V are still referred to as being part of the United States of America. Just because RDR mentions New York doesn't mean it can't still be worked into GTA's loose canon. They can still be the same universe... or not. It's perfectly ambiguous - those who want it to be can believe so, those who don't, don't. We DO know that Manhunt takes place in the GTA universe, that was confirmed 100% by Rockstar as the game takes place in Carcer City.
