police driving unmarked muscle cars

is this normal. i was doing the mission where you have to find 3 muscle cars an was driving around mission row when i carjacked a car it triggered the police to come after me. i got out an ran across the road an a white with red stripe muscle car came crashing towards me. it stops an out pops a police officer who starts shooting at me. i kill him an steal his car for the mission to save me looking for the one in the clue email. when i did this a couple other police came after me again in muscle cars but then after a few it went back to being normal cars chasing me.

 

has this happened to anyone else an is it normal. jus seemed odd for them to drive about in unmarked muscle cars that i specifically needed for the story mission i was on at the time. was it jus a bug?

I know if officers are too far away from their patrol car, they usually steal pedestrian vehicles. I don't think I ever did that setup for what I'm assuming is the big one. So maybe it's normal, IDK.

I've had cops jump out of civilian cars all guns blazing before. It's always been around police stations though, so I just kinda presumed they were going to/from work.

They just comandeer civilian vehicles if you have a wanted level and their car is rendered unusable or if there are no police cars nearby.

It's normal for the cops to commandeer a civilian vehicle indeed. But have you guys seen the unmarked cop cars with the "hidden" emergency lights and sh*t? I've seen em like 2 times during hundreds and hundreds of hours of gameplay. Wondering if they are as rare for everyone else, or am I just blind.

 

I've also spotted (and subsequently stolen) a police Buffalo twice.

Since all vehicles in GTA V are in a database and database has been copied its established exactly what kind of vehicles exists. There are some unmarked police cars (ie plain looking with lights/sirens), namely the FIB Buffalo, FIB Granger and the unmarked police cruiser. The unmarked police cruiser is based on the Stanier and comes in five colors, Black, Grey, Silver, Dark Red, and Dark Blue.

 

 

No other unmarked police vehicles exists in GTA V.

 

AFAIK, I never seen or heard of any unmarked police vehicles in traffic when the player does not have a wanted level.

They still spawn in their usual place in Strawberry underneath the train station for me. You shouldn't have a wanted level for them to spawn either. I'm on PS3, but reports in the Police Cars topic from PS4/Xbox One users say it's pretty much impossible to get them to spawn anymore.
