To make the game better?

So I just downloaded GTA IV because I decided to play through the main story.

 

Is there any mods I should already now get to improve the gameplay/graphics/whatever. that will not screw with the story itself

If your computer can handle one, an ENB would be great. http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/cryenb-v3-1070eflc-f30597(There are many ENB mods, but this one is just one I personally like)

Also there are a lot of HD texture mods out there, but for graphics an ENB is usually the most effective. These are usually HUGE and take long to download.

 

There is also HD peds, which is quite nice http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/tweak-all-the-peds-tap-mod-f12176

 

And what may also greatly improve graphics, as well as gameplay, is new/HD vehicles. There is a lot of these, and if you have the patience you can get specific vehicles you like 1 by 1, or download a big pack of vehicles. Try and search for "GTA IV Ultimate Car Pack Download" or something.

and of course, you are free to browse for your own mods too as there is a huge selection of mods to choose from. I usually use http://www.gta4-mods.com/but of course you can just use google to search for any gta iv mods and there will probably be other sites with even more mods that show up.

 

Have fun playing, this is a great game and is x100 better on PC (As are a lot of games...)

1 - If you need more performance in GTA IV with NVIDIA Cards see this:

2 - Disable V-Sync:

When V-Sync is on, it's lock at 60fps and can drop down from 60 to 40 or less.

Turn off Vsync in commandline.txt to get some extra fps in GTA IV.

Simply puts -novblank in commandline.txt file to turn off V-Sync in-game.

I just cant get it to work with ENB... I get so f*cking low FPS anyway, like 30 ish while driving and seeing other youtubers getting it flowing perfectly is really weird

I got all the settings, I didnt understand that the shadow settings etc you had to do it before loading game, otherwise it would not save...

Yes, this is really weird, I want to help you to play flowing perfectly as a YouTuber
I know you do not have a bad computer, but you need to follow these tips to extract the full performance of your computer.

 

1 - Get the CryENB V3 — It is more adjustable to the needs of the players. Has quality options (low / mid / high), effects options and other things.

Remember from this:

"There is no way to get to 100 fps at Maxed Out 1080p quality in a poorly optimized game like GTA IV, even more with mods like Car pack, ENB and others heavy mod. Even if you have a GTX 980."

 

Normally the fps drops slightly when driving fast because of motion blur from ENB. Not undo the things that you did in your Nvidia card.

 

It is usual get 120 fps inside of "mansion" (where everything is static), and drop to around 60 when you out of it (where everything is moving).

 

Yes, it is normal to play GTA IV modified at 60fps in a PC with specifications similar to yours. But when optimizes the game settings and also ENB settings can reach 65~70fps.

Seems like bilista is popular to replace, although 4 car sedans that is in GTA IV looks so boring!

Feroci should be replaced with newest Honda Accord

Contender should be replaced with newest Ford F-150 Raptor

Merit should be replaced with newest Chevrolet Impala
