ser
I would like to change the color of the dirt on the cars in GTA IV. Normally it is brown / gray - of course I need to change it to white. Unfortunately, I did not find it in textures. I have modified the vehshare (especially vehicle_genericmud_car.png) , it did not succeed. So - how to change the color of the dirt on the car body? It is even possible? I am waiting for answer

PhillBellic
Nobody knows? This may be a late reply, but the texture you are after is in the 'vehshare.wtd' file. it is called "vehicle_genericmud_car", furthermore another texture file is present in 'vehshare_truck.wtd" called 'vehicle_genericmud_truck'. These two textures control the dirt textures. Additionally, as you are using a modded vehicle in your game there may be a separate dirt texture file in the vehicles own wtd file itself. I hope I have answered your question to the best of my knowledge.
trumpetblast
I've been trying to change the dirt - to snow - limited success with the window dirt, but next to nothing on the body dirt... In brief (window glass), I exported the dirt texture, in Photoshop I sharpened to death ("frost") selected the 'dirt' and inverted the colour of the dirt only ('black' areas are treated as transparent in game) Looks ok, not brilliant. Will post example image later. Hope the above gives you hope! - I'm still going to keep plugging away at it, anyway...
ser
Nobody knows? the texture you are after is in the 'vehshare.wtd' file. it is called "vehicle_genericmud_car" I know about that. In vehicle_genericmud_car is impossible to change the color. There is only white / black. These two textures control the dirt textures. That's right, but can not change the color in this textures. I hope I have answered your Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately you not help me. Texture of the windows, chassis and tires I have changed, I did it myself - it is simple. Changing colors in vehicle_genericmud_car has this effect: I was looking color of dirt in files: -common>data>carcols.dat -common>data>hudColor.dat -common>data>plants.dat -common>data>PlayerSettingsLights.dat -common>data>vehicles.ide -common>data>visualSettings.dat -common>data>effects>explosionFx.dat -common>data>effects>materialFx.dat -common>data>effects>vehicleFx.dat -common>data>materials (all) -pc>models>cdimages>vehicles.img -pc>textures>effects.wtd -pc>textures>fxprojtex.wtd -pc>textures>vehicle.wtd without success. So where in the files of the game is hidden color dirt on the cars? Edited December 24, 2014 by ser

I tried changing the color or inverting the color of the dirt on glass and on car along with on truck without having any dirt color changed. What am I doing wrong? Can you help? WTFcatcher
@ser I did that and nothing changed... just more dirt while retaining its color... Not even the dirt being inverted...
