BenecioDelToro
Alaska has a highly varied ecosystem brimming with large cities, grassy hillsides, mountains, rivers, lakes, Northern Lights, and vast amounts of wildlife. It is a beautiful locale that could be fully utilized with next-gen hardware. Not only that, but think of the comedy that could ensue when you hear a Sarah Palin esque politician on the radio. I personally do not like the idea of having another rehash of the same Liberty City, San Andreas, and Vice City locations, and feel the next-gen hardware could create something profoundly new, large, beautiful, and breathtaking with Alaska. Here's some pictures to showcase what could be done. I'll start off with the city and then get into the wilderness. theGTAking101
ClaudX
If I wanted to look at pictures of Alaska and Republicans, I would've used Google. Ragref, lol232, Testarossa and 1 other
universetwisters
I lost it at Sarah Palin. But yeah, the only redeeming quality for Alaska for me would have to be the Northern Lights. And even then, what kind of crime is there in Alaska, other than some lumberjack getting caught f*cking a polar bear? Nights744
Anchorage is actually one of America's most dangerous cities. Source: http://www.forbes.com/pictures/efel45mde/anchorage-alaska/ Anchorage is already really beautiful in Flight Simulator. But yea, if it was for GTA and needs to be set in the United States I am all for Hawaii or Alaska. Still I think, this will never happen as they are still stucked in this mindset that they must either use San Andreas, Vice City or Liberty City. They completely forgot the London part they already did back then, I guess. BenecioDelToro
American Viking
I wouldn't be completely against this idea but remember, Far Cry 4 just released with a similar location in the Himalayas so that may be something to think about. I do agree though that they need to move on to different locations. If it were up to me they'd take the franchise to London, England.
ManularChimera
I like this idea but there's a problem, what kind of crimes are there in Alaska? Another problem is that the map wouldn't be completely based on Alaska because R* always uses islands as locations.

To be honest, you can't compare the Himalayas with Alaska, Rockstar would find a way to make it just epic. But what if V is the end of this journey ? What if Rockstar has the "can't push it any further" syndrom ? They made the real deal with V, like it or not.

There is everything but an official announcement from R* declaring that GTA 6 is already in progress. They may not be able to push the visual card any further, but the story and game world can always be better.

Seriously lately i'm not sure about that, i remember hearing from Dan Houser that he could "imagine" a "end of the line" after Grand Theft Auto V, i think it was a tweet or he said it in an official interview, but don't take my words too serious, he could have also said it another way, i just picked it up like that. This of course will not change much, i could also imagine a end of the journey now, everything has to end. What i would love to see before is a GTA set in a very cold and unusual location, like Alaska or something completely different like various offshore island groups or something comparable to New Zealand. Another problem is that the map wouldn't be completely based on Alaska because R* always uses islands as locations. Eh, they manage well enough for their other games - Alaska's a coastal state, as are LC, LS and VC. As for people talking about crime, that doesn't seem to matter a huge amount because crime to the level of the GTA franchise doesn't happen anywhere - sure, it can't take place in a completely peaceful area (something Alaska is not), but then they can just go Far Cry 4 and make it a violent area anyway. Anyway, this seems like a nice start for a concept - would be nice to expand on it a bit more, because it's not really a concept at the moment

Where on EARTH did you get the idea that "they may not be able to push the visual card any further"? If anything, GFX improvements is the only thing we can expect for certain.
