Enemy auto aim needs FIX

"In the case of full auto aim on GTA it snaps onto the nearest enemy, fully, and follows them"

Sorry but that sounds pretty much like what the AI does to the players. Maybe this is a point of semantics. Can anyone with good technical knowledge of AI help to clear this up?

I'd rather not be proved wrong against this condescending individual but I'm always happy to learn.

What, like someone with 20 years commercial software development experience, and several years prior to that writing actual AI, not just computer reaction logic? If that would suit you then ask away. I'll be happy to help.

My suggestion.

Beat Cops aka fat ass doughnut chokers are not killing you in under say 5 shots. Basically make these cops weaker. This is what is seen in 1-3 stars.

As well make 1-2 star even less deadly. Most folks that get to this level aren't wanting cop gun fights.

Maybe use the surrender action at the 1-2 star will yield a fine of $500. Stars drop and you go on your way. Basically cops approach you non violent but guns out. You have gun out or run. It's on.

At level 3. You've engaged them and killed one. Now it's a fight. However first suggestion applies.

Level 4 and 5 the Trained guns come in and they can remain as is. Don't change anything.

I really like the idea of utilizing tue surrender quick action. That would really make things much better. They could bleed money off us and yet remove some hassle for us. Win win.

Oh and while they get these things. Make R3 on foot sit down. I don't care if on ground or bench or log or hood of car. But let us sit. Silly to some but some of us would enjoy this. We do off roading and just general hang out and this would kick ass to do. Oh one last thing. Headphones allow access to radio. Why oh why. Is that not already.

Try making some good points, prefererably without sounding like a superior douche and maybe you'll seem like someone worth listening to.

The point isn't that the way that the AI targets and the way the player's Auto Aim works is mechanically the same. The point is that in practice the in game effect is the same so calling both Auto Aim is perfectly reasonable.

Coming across as condescending is not my attention, so I apologise if that's the case. Understand that you've come into this at the end of months of trying to explain things to whining children who can't even respond coherently, and if it seems like I'm talking down to people it's because I have had to lower myself to the level of some.

You are correct that this is purely semantics, just like we can ignore the person that uses the word "pacifically" because we know what they mean. But I'm only human, and every now and then I have to tell them they're using the wrong word. The term "auto aim" is incorrect if you are referring to the accuracy of a computer character. I was trying to explain that and came across badly. I'm sorry.

The only mission I've ever found that's actually hard is the one where you have to assault a Rockford hills mansion vs Cops and Bodyguards. There so many AI in random ass places and then the cops come with a 3 star wanted level. Or is it higher even? At least a police chopper spawns for sure. That mission any time you move you can die. The rest of the missions are pretty cake even on hard mode. Anyone can pretty much solo every mission by being careful and using cover, eating snacks when needed. If anything, more of a challenge is needed. They should create some new super tough missions say for 120 levels and up.

Yes - Death From Above. I couldn't do that for the longest time, purely because cops obviously spawn infinitely. I eventually gave in and did it with a tank, but have since managed it without. It's still one of the hardest missions though, in my mind.

I couldn't either, in the end I had to watch a YouTube instructional video made by what sounded like a 10 year old to help me, didn't make me feel great!

Lol - I know them feels.

One night, ages ago, there was a real clichéd squeaker in the session I was in - he sounded like a 10 year old as well. He was really, really sh*t-talking everyone in the session and I noticed he was nearby. I decided to make him leave. Unfortunately for me, this little bundle of joy was one of the best players I've ever met and he dominated me, *and* gave me verbal abuse whilst doing it.

If he's 10 and I'm in my 40s then I should be 4 times better than him!! :p

There's a tall building not far from the mansion that you can hop on top of with a helicopter and snipe just about all the bodyguards prior entering the mansion grounds. I run the mission solo, I get my heli, get on top of the building, snipe the bodyguards I see, take down a couple of noose heli's and then fly off to another building to lose my wanted level. Then I get into my car and enter the mansion and take out the remaining bodyguards.

They do more damage to us with beginner weapons then we do with heavy assault rifles, go figure.

After playing yesterday, I realize that my main problems with the AI are their car accuracy and minigun-fast bursts with any automatic weapon, both of which unfair. Still happens on current-gen. :/

I agree, all it needs is tweeking, not sure how the aim code works, but if for example 0=thier aim misses every time, and 100= perfect auto aim (Its safe to say its currently on 100!), it just needs to be on 90-95 with some random deviation and things would seem A LOT more realistic!

R* could make things even more realistic, by making Swat 95% accuracy, cops etc 90, down to regular peds 25 or so?

They could make each NPC random, but within a certain range. So regular cops could be 40-70%, and SWAT 50-90%, for example.

That would add more of a level of realism to it as you would get some that were crap shots compared to the others.

how is their accuracy in a car good? a bullet might hit u every now and then. what else do people expect. they are firing automatic weapons ffs. usually having 2-4 people in a car.

It's realistic to get hit by a couple of bullets, not a majority of bullets they shoot at you. You ever see their shot placements on your car?? If that door and that rear window louvers weren't there, you'd be dead, because all of those are body shots. Edited by SirMichaelRocks23

Well, one thing I just remembered is the guys in the boats on Crystal Clear out (not sure which, 1 thru 3, it is). Those guys are lethal for some reason, they can hit you from a swaying boat with dead eye accuracy!

Those guys are dicks! They have them in Diamonds Are For Trevor, Docking Bay(?), and that other Martin mission in the same warehouse that came with a DLC. The fact that they can hit me 100-200 yards out with an SMG on those hard waves is unbelievable.

I played "Time to get away" last week with my lower level character and got killed by two NPC's that were in a SUV turned over in a ditch when I drove by them. I think it's fine the way it is, but sometimes it does seem a little ridiculous.

This is good. 'See the problem I see with the AI in missions is that there is little variation between the enemies. If anyone has used the Content Creator and messed around with the 'actors', you'll get an understanding of how the AI functions. Every mission provided by Martin has all of the AI sporting 'high' accuracy. This is a bit lazy imo on the developer's part because I truly believe there is a lot more they can do than just put 20 dudes with AKs and pistols in an area that must be cleared.

Honestly I think the only enemies that should be prioritized to be highly accurate are goons with sniper rifles and assault rifles. Snipers should be perched above ground, hidden and set to 'stationary' right? Makes sense, sounds difficult. That AI might be worth 5 goons on your first try. But no, they're thrown into the mess with all of the other AI enemies and set to the 'aggressive' personality. That's them feeding us bullsh*t.

Also, instead of most missions that end with you having to lay waste to 40+ enemies, why not cut that number down and let the police attempt to stop you instead? I love it when the police get involved because they add a dynamic sense of difficultly that puts you in control, not the AI. I would love to escape a 5-Star wanted level after collecting a package personally.

You can't deny the fact that half of these missions are clearly lacking creativity. I always try to find new ways to approach missions, but with the way they're constructed, they really narrow down opportunity.

@sevdogz just like in SP the only missions where you could change your approach were the assassination ones

R* need to fix the spawning enemies 2 ft behind you as well

When ranking up my first character on the 360, I rarely died during missions. Now that I'm ranking up my second character and having to play missions again, death is inevitable, even in auto aim.

I mean drugged up bikers and gang bangers have the same accuracy as cops, merc's and army guys? Yeah right......

Now that you mentioned all of those guys, there is something bugging me about their health. I got into a police chase earlier, used the Pistol .50, and managed to kill each one with 1-2 shots, with one shot being fatal enough to make them bleed out. No big deal.. Perfectly normal.

Fast-forward to Crystal Clear out and it took 4-6 shots from said gun to kill a redneck in a tank top and overalls, and Vagos with their ragged clothes.... 4-6 .50AE bullets, chest shots, no body armor. The more I let that sink in, the more it pisses me off.

I should have recorded that with the DVR on the XB1 as proof..

I completely agree. To be honest this is my only major issue with the game. The AI are able to shoot me and not miss 95% of the time even when Im behind sufficient cover and what makes this worse is armor and health goes down way too fast which makes surviving shootouts incredibly slim in some cases. R* seriously needs better coders.

What the game wants is the NPC accuracy turned way way down. So that the chance of you getting hit by a pistol is like one in ten. But when that one in ten hits you, your dead. Player health needs to go down too.

If they made enemy fire less accurate, then players would actually be able to complete difficult missions repeatedly...
