Something that nobody noticed about the Temperature Gauge

Well, I don't know if it was noticed or not, but since I didn't saw it here, I've decided to post it.

We already know that if you hit the gas tank and the fuel starts leaking, the Fuel gauge moves to "empty" and the engine goes off.

Same thing goes to the Temperature gauge: You shoot the engine until the dark smoke comes up, then go to your car and try to start it. After several attempts, it will start. Your temperature gauge will be between the middle and the "H". Go for a driving (preferably at Highway). You will notice that the engine tries to turn off and it will start backfiring. The car will start overheating and the gauge will move to the H. The engine switches off and catches fire and, after some minutes, it will explode.

It's such a nice detail and i didn't noticed it until today...

Is there a way to use a fire extinguisher to prevent the car from blowing up?

Now that's that Rockstar detail I love. Fire extinguisher would be a logical step into turning this into an actual thing players can deal with, but chances are it'll never happen and nothing more will come of it besides a cool indicator that the car is failing.

You could try with a fire truck. I've seen a couple in the streets extinguishing the fire of a downed helicopter.

That's pretty awesome, actually. I wish cars would overheat if you pushed them too much. As in, if you kept trying to do drifts, or a really long burnout, the car will start to overheat and if it overheats for a long time, maybe the engine will blow. Not sure if anybody else would enjoy this, but that feature would be pretty cool in my opinion.

Yeah details like this are what R* does so well with, but it's a shame that they don't fully flesh these things out. Imagine if the gas and temperature of the engine wasn't just an instrument on the dashboard but something that was an important part of the game play.

I've seen cars leak fuel and leave a trail you can shoot and start a fire , and that's awesome .. But where can you shoot on the car to make the fuel tank leak? (Show me maybe like car.. I'm Sure it's different on all of them)

I have noticed that as soon as the engine catches fire, if you stop your car then it mostly doesn't blow up. It will extinguish after a while but your cars engine will die. But if you continue going when your engines on fire then it always blows up.

Good spot OP.

One thing that kind of bothers me about the cars' dash's though is the rev counters. They've got a sabre turbo topping out about 8500. I don't think any modern yank V8 goes above 7K nevermind a 40 year old one. The Massacro's the same, while the Carbonizzare only goes to about 6500. Surely it should be the other way round?

In the First Person Launch Trailer when Michael gets int the car, you can also see the temperature gauge moving up. It moves as he starts the engine and very slowly rises as the feds are shooting at him.

It doesn't just happen when you shoot the engine up. It happens whenever the engine is on, in the middle. Atleast for me :p
