mr quick
Was just off the ferry after having driven through Denmark and some of Germany, and a bitchin' thunder- and hailstorm came. It was eerie, whole valleys were lit up, but the hail created this fog-like atmosphere. Had to pull over in fear of dying a badass death. Speak of the devil, there have been thunder- and hailstorms all week.

Gnocchi Flip Flops
The worst was before I could even remember, back in 2001 or 2002 when it rained so much that the 1604 and Interstate 10 NW junction was flooded. That was like 40 feet deep and it was completely flooded. But yeah not much has happened here, nothing devestating except for the 2011 drought and the resulting Bastrop fires. ByePolar
The worst weather we get in SE Louisiana is hurricanes and I've rode out two of the worst in US history.... When I was just a young sapling, I experienced the wrath of Hurricane Camille (1969). Even though she didn't hit my area directly, we still felt quite a bit of her fury when she opened up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Hurricane Katrina wasn't a lady either, she devastated my area (35 miles North of New Orleans), left us without power for 2 months and tons of damage. I was a Junk
okay so lol today just beat the former record for worst. Gusts up to 130 mph. Amazed that literally nothing is damaged in our house. It's been a long time since we've had a storm like this.
Varys
When I visited Anadyr, Russia. my girlfriend is from Bilibino, Russia. The place is amazing, yet so cold. I mean even in the "summer" time it's not even warm. Both fascinating places. There was a huge storm over her hometown, the night we arrived, several people helped us just get into the town (it was around -20c as well, in April!!) Her parents welcomed us with these huge Papakha's (which was really nice!) and basically told us that when we head to Anadyr, I will need this because the conditions are even worse down there. After arriving at Anadyr though, after taking a 14 hr journey it was as I expected, foggy, galeforce winds and around -30. I live in the UK we don't get weather like this, so of course I'm a little "soft", heheh. So, I can say this with my head held high that she coped with the conditions (naturally) miles better than I did. The place was amazing though, and the folk over there are really nice and humble. Guest Billy Russo
2007 UK Floods, School was off for ages if I remember correctly. I definitely remember the f*cking floods because I was bored out of my mind due to there being absolutely no electricity. It was nothing at first, but it got really really heavy. It was as high as a Phone Box in some places. Also, the snow we got in UK in 2010, was one of the worst I'd experienced. I f*cking loved those days off though, was amazing. Everywhere was treacherous. Those are recent ones I remember well.

Ryan
Hurricane Juan in 2003 made landfall here in Nova Scotia as a category three hurricane. Then there was "White Juan" which was a Nor' Easter a couple of months later that dumped over a meter of snow on Nova Scotia in 24 hours. Aside from those though, nothing really major. Blizzards in the winter that dump half a meter of snow along with 120km/h winds are fairly common as are ice storms. We had a week about ten years ago where it got down to about -50 Celsius which I remember. Schools were cancelled all week because the risk of students freezing while waiting for the bus/walking to school was too great and because they couldn't keep the schools warm enough. Homemade Dynamite
I used to live in eastern Washington and unlike Seattle, there are no mountains blocking the wind in that area. It gets so windy there around this time a year that you basically can't go outside. It's actually kept me up all night when I was trying to sleep, and it broke our fence. So glad to be out of it now. 79'Blazer4x4
About a year ago I went to visit a friend who lived about a 3 hour drive away at the time. It was fine when I got there but the snow started to pick up as it got later so I decided I'd head home before it got any worse(as I couldn't stay the night), also keep in mind that there was a pretty heavy snowfall a couple weeks before this so the ditches were full of snow but the roads were clear until this snowfall started. About halfway home it was snowing so much I literally couldn't see 10 feet in front of my truck. Wanting to get home at a half decent time I was going about 70kmh(40 or so would have been safer) on a 100kmh limit 2 lane highway. I drove for another half hour and at that point the road was completely covered in snow and I couldn't tell it apart from the ditch(I'm sure I drove in the oncoming lane more than a few times since I couldn't even tell if I was still on the road). I ended up hitting the edge of the ditch with my two pasenger side tires and it started pulling me into the ditch(quite quickly I must add), I reacted almost instantly and cranked the wheel in the opposite direction and completely let off of the throttle. To my surprise the truck actually managed to pull itself out of the ditch and back onto the road(I was completely expecting to not recover and end up stuck). Unfortunately, it came out of the ditch pretty hard and I ended up in the oncoming lane. I countersteered back toward my lane as I was now headed straight for the ditch on the other side and my truck ended up travelling completely sideways in the oncoming lane for about 4 or 5 seconds(with the wheel now cranked to the left to countersteer for this slide). It straightened out and then fishtailed out the other way but at that point I was ahead of the game and prepared to countersteer for that to even it out. I ended up still on the road and straigtened out back in my lane completely surprised that I managed to save a near-inevitable accident from happening. It's definitely a good thing nobody happened to be in the oncoming lane when I flew sideways into it though. In fact, I didn't encounter a single vehicle during the 3 hour drive back(3 hours going the speed limit in good conditions that is), so I guess it proves that it was a really bad snow storm if not one other Canadian driver was on any of the major highways I had to travel that whole time. It also proves that I'm either stupid or batsh*t insane to choose to drive in such conditions. Btw, I was in 2wd before the incident and promptly put my truck into 4x4 after. tuareg
Last week we had some seriously cold weather in the mountains at my work place. Everything froze completely and all night all you could hear was trees falling over/branches breaking off. Every time i go to work now i see the side of the mountain next to us and literally every tree is broken in half/has large parts missing. I also spent some time in croatia when the bora hit. It wasn't anything special at the time though.
