Reasons why V is better than IV

Forgot to add Snapmatic to my original post. I wish GTA IV had a picture storage and sharing system. Glad V does, it's a great addition.

The handling is too arcadey in 5. People like realism and now you can flip your car? LOL, and when you're in the air the car feels light as a feather, at least in 4 cars had a sense of weight, the suspension could have been better and handling less "boat like" but it was there. And online you actually had to take corners properly, in 5 you can go 100mph and turn without braking, but thats just what I liked about it, since people complained it to be too hard when it really wasnt. With damage in IV i preferred that, here you dont get much if you rear end a truck at say 40mph but in 4 you dents and see the front end crumple etc. Again just imo :)

Please goto the 'reasons why IV is better than V' topic, you don't want to make the same mistake as me, next thing you'll know you're gonna have 12 year olds sending a youtube video calling you a troll.

136 pages of driving debate

48 pages of screw u rockstar

26 pages of iv better than v in iv section

I agree, people should calm down with their anti V reasons in a topic about things V does better.

You forgot to mention that those pages are updated by mostly the same V-haters. Pretty much the same 6-8 users so i don`t think that`s exactly a majority lol.

Just some things I like about V:

-lots of weapons

-car variety

-more things to spend money on.

But what bugs me is ...why won't Rockstar finally give up having 2 models for each character ? Just use the cutscene model as the in-game model too.

The Dedito Gae

Even though i like more V, there are some things the game improved over IV

-The character on feet gameplay is more fluid.

-Ragdoll button.

-Country side.

-You can stand on trains and some trucks

-Trevor is the most funny protagonist and rampaging doesn't feel out of character.

-some interesting cheats.

-more customization (weapons, cars and characters)

-jet gameplay in a huge map.

-wild life

-you can enter a car while talking on the phone.

I´d say that V has some improvements, but it isn´t necessarily "better" than IV. They are hard to compare. IV is more serious and gritty, V is more action packed and over the top. I must admit I enjoyed every GTA. Sure, each had its flaws, and there are some I enjoyed more, but the overall experience was great for me with each single GTA. In the over 25 years since I started gaming there were many games which made me think I wasted time and money with them, but this was never the case with a GTA game.

Since i were little too harsh on V lately i feel a little bad about it so i may just number few things that i prefer in V to IV;

-more varied missions

-more varied vehicles and aircrafts

-bike handling

-sea wildlife and the look of the ocean

-animals

-countryside

-police (not wanted level just cops being more challenging)

-presence of military

-rampages

-customizing cars and looks

-LS Rock Radio on new gen

Yeah i always hated that wining and dining bullsh*t. I mean, you take the girl in the wrong place wearing the wrong suit and driving the wrong car and she wont invite you in because of that?

If you take her to the comedy club you`ll bang her but no banging if you`ll take her to the theater? (Kiki from IV i.e.)

Uselles bullsh*t. I prefer booty girls from V.

Since I couldn't find a topic like this, I decided to create one. Probably gonna get flamed more for making this but whatever:

1. Better car handling and physics, such as being able flip your car back up when your car is upside down and you can go fast and actually turn

2. Many more returning vehicles, including planes, more Helicopters, cars and more.

3. Continuous free DLC given to us.

4. Is available on Last gen and Next gen and of course, PC

5. Better character designs.

6. 3 main protagonists have been implemented better.

7. A Military base with military vehicles.

8. Countryside

9. Many more things to buy instead of clothing and guns, you can now buy cars, helipads, airfields and businesses which you can actually help out with.

10. Realism has been toned down, making R* implement things they wouldn't be able to in IV

11. Much more improved multiplayer

12. All the weapons from GTA IV, TLAD, TBOGT and more

13. Car customization

14. More difficult, GTA IV was easy.

15. Weapon upgrades

And lot more reasons.

Post your opinions.

Every city on this planet has a countryside. Even Tokio if you go far out to it`s boundaries.

It can`t be otherwise, each city has it`s limits where the countryside begins. It can`t go forever even if it`s metro conglomerat.

1. Driving missions

This is different from the driving debate, although it's related. I prefer the driving missions in V, even if I miss some of the driving mechanics of IV. I can't count how many times I threw the controller when I played IV because the driving missions were either insanely intricate or entirely too long. I have a feeling this is due to my age and not wanting to learn the level of detail required to master driving in a game where being in the car is only a portion of the game play.

2. Better activities/More places to spend money

Sure IV had some fun stuff to do, but I prefer the options given in V. Golf, alone, is worth the price of admission.

3. No more internet cafes

Sign of the times, sure. But man, when IV came out, I really hated having to do anything internet related. It was a chore. The integration of the interwebz onto the smart phone is just better, pure and simple.

4. NO ONE IS CALLING ME EVERY 5 MINUTES

Arguably the biggest storyline/plot themed improvement. Sometimes, I want to play a game in a linear fashion. Sometimes not. I hated, hated, HATED being punished for not wanting to deviate from the main storyline just because Roman was feeling neglected. Eat a bag of dicks, Roman - I'm busy.

5. Michael is a great protagonist

He has real conflict - it's believable. He feels like a real person with a sorted history, environmental problems, aspirations, and personal demons. But it's a double-edged sword because of the bullsh.t three way character development device between him, Trevor (RAWR I'M CRAZY), and Franklin (hello, stereotype). I firmly believe he could have been the best GTA character ever if it wasn't for this nonsensical hopscotching to the other protagonists, and their forced tangential relationships.

5. North Yankton

The simple fact we were allowed to deviate from the map was a real nice touch - often overlooked. Sure, it was only for a small portion of the game but it did allow for the player to think outside of the walled garden that is LS (or any other GTA map before in the respective previous game). I think this is where Rockstar should put some focus on it's next endeavors.

6. Airplanes

Don't really need to elaborate too much. Flying is really, really fun. On the other hand, thanks Rockstar for ruining helicopter flight.

7. Humor

While I am not always a huge fan of the over-the-top, blockbuster plot in GTAV, one thing is for sure: V is pretty goddamned hilarious. Trevor alone, despite my misgivings about him as a playable character, provides great comic value. I certainly laughed way more in V than in IV.

8. The countryside

Although another thriving city would have been fantastic, just the fact there's a countryside area is satisfying from a gameplay perspective. Granted, there's not a lot of reasons to go there, the openness and vast amounts of space (graphically superb!) has an effect on my psyche. Especially in free-roam.

9. It feels like So Cal

This one is personal. I spent half of my life in So Cal and this looks and feels like my backyard. IV did a good job of nailing the personality of NYC, but V kills it in presentation. Granted, this may also just be because of the next generation graphical prowess. Either way, I like the way V looks better. My only gripe is with the NPCs being a little too vapid and stereotypical. This is one of the most diverse areas in the world - the NPCs should reflect as such.

GTA 5 brougth back the SA feeling, which i loved. I felt GTA 4 took it to a new direction, a direction i didnt like so much. A more serious and realistic direction, and i feel thats not whats GTA is about. For me its supposed to be a bit silly, crazy etc. Who doesnt remember all the completely crazy and unrealistic missions of San Andreas? All the silly content, wide open map, customizations and so on. GTA 5 brougth alot of that stuff back imo. I felt that in gta 4, once the story was done, there was nothing to do anymore.

Nice post. It`s just like i would wrote it if my english would be better :catspider:

Personally i would like to have the combination of NG V`s driving and IV`s vehicle damage system combined into 1. It would be just perfect.

I was a relationship guy for most of my adult life and it blew up in my face. Now I enjoy having a mostly sexual relationship with a woman. We have something in between FWB and full blown commitment. No wining and dining and romantic BS.

I don't know why but I have screwing Ursula while playing as Trevor. It is so much more than Niko and Kate.

Despite how over-the-top V is, I had more of an urge to do realistic role-play as Michael, Franklin and Trevor than I did with Niko, Johnny and Luis. I also had more fun doing so as well.

From letting Michael cheat on Amanda with slutty hookers early within the storyline to display how disastrous their marriage is, to making Franklin slowly but surely improve his shooting skills at the Ammunation like M and T requested, or even having Trevor hang out with his friends to display his loyalty and learn more about his backstory and why he is the way he is, there was never a moment in V where I grew sick of realistically roleplaying.

I found that the only aspects that GTAV was better than IV were:

(a) graphics

(b) weapon variety and customization (for what little difference silencers/suppressors made)

© gunplay and cover mechanics

...and other than that, I can't think of anything else.

May i ask you why do you feel the need to infesting the topic called "reasons why V is better than IV" with negativity towards V?

If some V fan does the same in vice versa topic is unforgiveable but if IV fans do it in here then somehow is ok?

Its one comment, its hardly "infesting", and its called criticism. Theres many other people who have said IV is better than V so stop nitpicking, people have opinions. As for your last sentence I havent seen that thread because I dont go on this everyday thanks.

Yea I didnt realise people would get that butthurt over it.

Most of the reasons why GTA V are better have been stated multiple times therefore I didnt want to say the same thing. Lesson learned, luckily im not that active here anyway so I rarely view replies to comments.

That said GTA V is a step in the right direction though, environments and vehicle wise it blows IV out of the water

-map/environment

-vehicles on NG. Especially bikes. I can finally drive bikes again after SA and actually enjoy it. Bikes were one thing i hated with passion in IV. I was so angry everytime i needed to drive a bike in some mission. Not to mention that annoying screaming sound of PCJ-600. So this is something i really like in V. Especially Akuma and it`s sound. It`s fantastic.

-How big the map is.

-Weapons: There are a lot more of them.

-NPCs are actually interesting and not just hollow figures that don't matter.

-Vehicles: TONS OF CARS. Planes. Planes. Planes.

-Story is a f*ckton better and has much more depth. I felt connected to the characters. Unlike Niko.

I was looking for this thread.

-Beautiful Map, Countryside aswell as an amazing underwater world filled with life

-The City IS alive, compared to IV where I felt Peds would just walk in a certain direction and sometimes turn around.

-People racing in the LS Storm Drains makes the world feel unique. I believe you never see these kinds of things in IV

-The Airport has jets flying in and out, instead of circling the runway.

-Animals

-Three Protagonists for easy location and personality differentiation

-Quick Save on Phone

-Snapmatic

-Hanging out with more than 1 friend

-No Phone Calls

-Internet has a working Social Network, that updates with the Story

-Wezeal News has alot more broadcasts than IV

-Return of Planes

-Submarines

-Weapon Wheel

-Radio Wheel

-GTA Online

-Much more fluid character movement.

-As expected, better graphically.

-Military base.

-GTA Online having an MMORPG system compared to IV's FFA. I'm the minority here, preferring IV but preferring GTA O to IV Online.
