Vertighost Posted December 11, 2014 Share Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) I like spawning at Michael's house and using his families cars, I like Stunting with Franklin, for the free repairs and upgrades at his LSC but I usually call up one of the other guys to hang with (scare the sh*t out of) while doing it. My favourite character would be Trevor, but I get annoyed by all the insults he gets from NPCs, and I'm sick of seeing him pick his nose and flick it in First Person haha. Trevors character is too unbelievable in that someone like him would have been shot LONG before he had chance to meet Michael again.Franklin is just a bit of a joke really.. riding along on Michaels coattails, never thinking for himself, and whats with his hangup on his ex-girlfriend. Pathetic.Michael is just the typical middle aged mid-life crisis guy and altogether boring and annoying with a little help from his family. GTA 5 had great visuals and missions but the characters and story were both equally weak. GTA 4 had average visuals and lackluster missions but the characters and story were (although a bit depressing at times) a lot more believable and I felt invested in the game after playing it. John The Grudge Posted December 11, 2014 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I thought Michael's story was the most compelling. I was really rooting for him to mend his relationship with his family. I think he's the deepest character of the three. He is also fairly unique among GTA protagonists in that he has something at stake besides his own life and money. Trevor's an inconsistent sh*t and his whining got way too tiresome halfway through the story, and Franklin's just a naïve follower. I also like finally playing as someone who belongs. Tommy just got back from prison in VC, CJ was returning from Liberty City in SA, Niko was fresh off the boat in IV. It felt nice to play someone already somewhat established in the city, with a house that felt lived-in and a family. It was nice to be able to go home to a house with other people in it. I guess that goes for all three of them, but Michael's family felt the most alive. Also, I don't care that he betrayed Trevor, any sane person would have done the same to protect their family from a psycho like him. At least Mike succeeded in getting ahead, entering the movie industry. Frank got screwed with literally every deal in the game and Trevor wasn't even trying to get ahead, so Mike again. Frank is ok but a bit of a novelty and imo just a nod to SA as there isnt really an element to 'da hood' Mike just flat out annoys me, boring from the start and about half way through he turns into the biggest douche know to GTA. F is just like a 40 years old man who criticizes all the attitudes of those who know (and those who don't). He's serious, looks angry almost everytime (if not, watch his eyebrows, everytime looks like he's saying "I can't understand what you're saying"), he doesn't have sarcasm... Just once I saw him laughing when trevor slipped reaching Denise' house... Trevor is way too "crazy" and tends to get dirty quickly.. So the most "normal" in the story for me is Michalel. I do like Michael, but that family guy stuff In GTA ain't really for me, and it was kinda boring and corny Hollywood crap anyway. Also, Michael's FIB plot really ruined a lot of the story IMO. Trevor is the worst protagonist ever to grace a GTA game. Nothing changes there. CH328 Posted December 11, 2014 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I play as Franklin when I want to be a gangster but it kind of sucks because in my game he's a billionaire who has a Zentorno in the garage while his gang is driving around beaters. But Michael is usually a go to protag for me to play. I love his mansion, and he just looks awesome in a suit. I expected that it would down the line but after having the game for a year, Trevor and Franklin are both my favorite to play in free roam, but Michael is best as far as the story goes, since most of the story revolves around him. I have a hard time playing Michael in free roam though. Usually when I do, I have him doing crimes like robbing stores or attacking armored trucks, since I imagine his boredom would lead to that. Its easier for me to come up with activities for Franklin and Trevor, though I try to play with all three evenly. Snap. On my first run through V I went through the motions. I really liked Michael to begin with but after discovering his treacherous side I sympathised with Trevor and ended up liking him. Was really unsure about Trevor but after he made Johnny look flaccid I had to give him some respect. That won me over. I didn't like Franklin at all. I used Michael a lot in SP because I liked where his house and garage were situated. Also, his wife's Sentinel is lovely. On my second run I've still got mixed feelings about Michael and use him the least now - but this may change once I've beefed up all my characters' garages. I like Franklin a lot more than I did before and have much more time for him. Trev's my guy. Period. He's trash but I find him to be witty and intelligent - contrary to his image which is a nice contrast. It just feels right to get sucked off in my Schwartzer and to kill prostitutes after as T. Also, I feel that the driving physics have changed a bit so I enjoy driving through mountains and the northern parts of the map now - which I never did before. As for the ghetto, if you followed the story properly or at all, you'd have noticed that Franklin was trying get out of the ghetto (which he does eventually). So your reasons for not liking him don't make much sense at all, unless there are other reasons you don't like him.
