Why is there no option for lobbies without Police?

Seriously though, it's how the game is. I really wish that more people remembered (or even knew) what gaming was like when it first became a popular thing. You got the game. You played it. You liked it or you didn't. If you didn't then you didn't play it again. You didn't campaign endlessly for something to be added/removed/modified just because it didn't suit your own personal utopian vision. People these days are too fucking needy.

 

If you don't like it then play a different game.

So you want to go back to the primitive age where if there was something wrong with the game, you're f*cked. Great thinking. Inb4 anything related to releasing a game without day one patches.

Good post OP, and I have the same opinion. Cops ruin freeroam battles -> they ruin freeroam. I'm only on public sessions when there are special crates. Nothing else interests me anymore. In deathmatches you can compete against other players - not other players plus endlessly spawning cops. Also the fact that their existence in a lobby makes all the cars disappear from the streets makes me mad.

 

Lobbies, as they are, are not made for 10-player battles. But that's the only thing people want to do, so that it is. At least on the older consoles (I play only on PS3) there is not enough power to run the lobbies smoothly, which somewhat kills the game.

In my humble opinion it would split even more the community, we have enough with the different aiming modes, and if they introduce more splitting, the amount of lobbies will duplicate, halving the population once and again until our community turns into cosmic dust.

Cops should ONLY come after you if you fire (aim your gun) at them, blow up npc vehicles, or shoot npcs.

 

PVP contact should result in no cops.

To be honest, having a option to remove the police makes the game economy too "easy." By this I mean, boosting cars and selling them or swiping a vehicle for Simeon with no police response; same goes for armored trucks. It makes money making far easier than they want it to be. R* is not about making money in this game easy.

 

Ergo, police stay to make you work for the opportunities for money even in free mode.

 

No police = less shark card sales, put another way. Without resistance people would be boosting cars and selling them, Simeon and armored trucking themselves silly. It'd be too easy.

 

We all know R* wants us to buy shark cards to fund our habits.

If that's what I said then yes. I didn't say that though. I was explaining how self-entitled a lot of gamers are, and it's an attitude of being grateful for what you have that I was trying to get across. How anyone can piss and moan about this game is beyond me. No, it's not perfect - of course it's not, but it's an amazing game. It's sad to see so many "I want, I want, I want" kids shouting about pathetic rubbish that basically boils down to them not being able to play the game the way it is, so they want it changed. That's not how this works and I hope it god that it never is.

Personally, I have zero issues with the cops in this game. Yes, I get killed by them. Yes, they crash into me and then kill me for it because I get a wanted level. Yes, they turn up when you're doing something with another player and interrupt it. I have no issues with any of that because that's part of the game. The Serenity Prayer should be taught in schools.

Police or no police doesn't bother me anymore. However, I sympathise with people who're fed up of them. The ever-present cops were one of the reasons I took my combat playing to the tops of buildings where they don't come unless you kill one.

 

I always played in police-off lobbies in IV, and I can understand why some people want the same option for V.

huh? Dying has no impact on your finances.... bar the occasional $250 impound charge... which you can skip by stealing it back.

If you die 20 times (quite normal) then you could lose up to $10K.

Not to hijack this with my own opinion that's kinda OT and OD but I honestly feel if R* Wasn't trying to gank us in the pockets so much, their atrocious policing style wouldn't be existent. It's just another system amongst other systems to creatively rid us of money as convenient and under the radar as possible.

Seems like the police know you have more to lose as opposed to IV. Lol monies.

 

When you think about other ways the game takes your money and you add that with satire = an excuse to leave it the way it is.

The argument that it would split the player base too much seems misguided to me. That would be the fault of r*'s matchmaking, not that people are playing in different sessions. If you want the same lobby options as one that's already created, you should be put in that lobby. If your not, it's the matchmaking, not the lobby options.

 

There already is a huge segment of people playing alone in invite only lobbies so the way it is now is segregating the players or "creates a ton of lobbies."

There is NO link between having significant amounts of in-game money and the police. There is no mandatory requirement to buy cash cards. Its easier than ever now to make good amounts of legit cash.

Also another reason why you cannot turn off the police, it is meant as a means to limit greifing and agro in freeroam.

 

Freeroam is designed to be like a lobby where players mingle and socialise before going off to do other activities. The design is that if you want to shoot each other up without the police, you go into a deathmatch or capture, LTS, etc. where you can earn money for doing so, much more than in freeroam.

 

There are limited opportunities in freeroam for combat over specific objectives ie HPV, Lesters targets, etc. but these are meant to be limited confrontations, not prolonged battles.

I think the "no police" option is an easy fix. When we go into passive mode police should be turned off OR just have an option like passive mode and turn cops off. Ill admit it sometimes I just want to cruise about without cops getting pissed and start shooting at me when THEY DRIVE INTO ME.
