I'll start this topic off by apologizing if there's already been another topic asking the same.

I've saved up enough money to buy myself a Current Gen console, and I've decided to go with the Xbox One. I currently play GTA on my 360 & I'm still enjoying it a lot.

My question is, is GTA V on current gen worth buying again if I already own it on the 360? I've seen a few features, but none of my friends have it so I can't get an honest opinion. Please help me, thanks.

yes, the simple fact that the framerate is more stable makes it a deal breaker for me (also cockpit view camera)

yes.

people need to stop playing on their ps3/360's now. it's time to move to the current generation.

it's the game you know and love but running and looking better. also new gameplay features and incentives are waiting.

Absolutely. If you're a GTA V fan. Don't read reviews, they're mostly one guys opinion which can differ from yours.

The world feels more alive, video's don't do it justice at all. You may see video's like 'where's the traffic bruh?' but they're bullsh*t to be honest. It's surprising when you play the game, you might think there's not much, all the cars are the same, 2 minutes later you'll change that opinion because the traffic will be heavy, a lot of different cars. First person mode is smooth, it's far from perfect, but for a 1st time thing it's surprisingly good.

The new stuff is better than i thought it would be, monkey mosaics show you more of the city, and you get some new clothing items for Trevor. The stock car races are a bit small but not horrible. And you get to chase people as a cougar! And play as a shark and kill swimmers!

There's a few glitches right now, some quite annoying, like some strangers and freaks missions might disappear when you get close, but you can just do a story mission and it stops disappearing.

The roof and sides on cars can't be crushed like before. The way parts of the car are damaged looks better though, and it's not a giant loss once you're used to it. Unless you love the car damage on last gen, and roof damage is something you like, you won't get used to it then.

Tree's don't move if that's a big thing for you :p

I had the same reservations as you but haven't regretted the purchase one bit, hope that helps (XB360>XB1).

I played it to death on PS3 but am happy with my choice to buy a PS4 for this game...Stand out for me is the beefier engine sounds and smoother gameplay.

Lock n' Stock

Main reasons I'm buying the new version is because of the updated soundtrack and the fact that my sh*tty PS3 copy refuses to run properly, too much freezing up even on the main loading screen. Might as well ditch it for a more complete version.

The radio is loads better, there's a lot of smaller improvements, people in buses, parked cars, extra dialogue, more animals, the sea is a lot better, bigger waves, more violent during storms, underwater is better, animals attack each other, i saw a cougar chasing a deer, i saved the deer. More sound in the city, you hear people talking more, peds actually cross the road now, the foliage makes a big difference, there's traffic and ped's in cutscenes, so they're not lifeless things anymore. Different clothing in cutscenes for characters, different dialogue, more dialogue everywhere, places are much more populated, the quarry, construction sites and places like that.

Driving is improved, not sure how, but it's a bit different.

Video's on youtube don't do the game justice, playing is always better and different to watching.

If you're a fan of the blista compact, stallion or dukes, there's them, in traffic. The dukes o'death is really good, not just a re-skinned dukes. The new monster truck comes in loads of colours, based on countries, Jamaica looks the best. The sea plane is also good, landing on water feels smooth, and looks good too.

The stock cars are good if you like cars, you can change the colour's of them, but keep the livery, the sprunk car in black is nice.

You get rare vehicles in Traffic, some you'll rarely see, others will be parked in many locations. You don't start with DLC weapons, or the garage and you have to buy the garage, so something extra to spend money on.

Saying it's just the same game with better graphics is wrong, anyone who says that haven't played it on current gen. It's like the same, same missions and story, city and characters, but everything else, feels more advanced. It's not a new game but at the least i'd call it refreshing. i'd hate to have to go back to last gen, i have the 360 version and it's a very different atmosphere.

What's a improved sky box???

Detailed explanation from Wikipedia lol:

A skybox is a method of creating backgrounds to make a computer and video games level look bigger than it really is. When a skybox is used, the level is enclosed in a cuboid. The sky, distant mountains, distant buildings, and other unreachable objects are projected onto the cube's faces (using a technique called cube mapping), thus creating the illusion of distant three-dimensional surroundings. A skydome employs the same concept but uses either a sphere or a hemisphere instead of a cube.

Processing of 3D graphics is computationally expensive, especially in real-time games, and poses multiple limits. Levels have to be processed at tremendous speeds, making it difficult to render vast skyscapes in real time. Additionally, realtime graphics generally have depth buffers with limited bit-depth, which puts a limit on the amount of details that can be rendered at a distance.

To compensate for these problems, games often employ skyboxes. Traditionally, these are simple cubes with up to 6 different textures placed on the faces. By careful alignment, a viewer in the exact middle of the skybox will perceive the illusion of a real 3D world around it, made up of those 6 faces.

As a viewer moves through a 3D scene, it is common for the skybox to remain stationary with respect to the viewer. This technique gives the skybox the illusion of being very far away, since other objects in the scene appear to move, while the skybox does not. This imitates real life, where distant objects such as clouds, stars and even mountains appear to be stationary when the viewpoint is displaced by relatively small distances. Effectively, everything in a skybox will always appear to be infinitely distant from the viewer. This consequence of skyboxes dictates that designers should be careful not to carelessly include images of discrete objects in the textures of a skybox, since the viewer may be able to perceive the inconsistencies of those objects' sizes as the scene is traversed.

The source of a skybox can be any form of texture, including photographs, hand-drawn images, or pre-rendered 3D geometry. Usually, these textures are created and aligned in 6 directions, with viewing angles of 90 degrees (which covers up the 6 faces of the cube).

I had the same "problem" as you do. I already own GTA V for the Xbox 360, bought a Xbox One and I hesitated weeks about should I buy it again, and f*ck, I did it lol, just seconds ago. I mean, GTA V was the last game I bought on the Xbox 360, and I played it for a long time, and I'm sure I will again but now Next gen, so a lot more fun!

If you have enough money and you dont care spend another 50-60$ on the game, do it!

Hey, it still beats San Andreas' star pattern, you remember that? It was just a constellation made to look like the R* logo. LOL

I don't think that Skybox description really applies to most AAA titles these days. Especially GTA V. The skybox in 5 is just the sky, as V does not have any "unreachable places".

No. If you already own the 360 version, the nextgen version isn't worth more than like 30 bucks. It doesn't offer anything worth 60 bucks.

Now looking back to November 2011 i miss the feeling while watching the official first trailer, experiencing the impossible, not sure what would hit us, what this masterpiece would be about, who we are going to play with or how it will feel and look.

Today i really wish this time would come back, the waiting was hard, but the road to release date was very emotional and special. Actually i was more hyped for the game the day we saw the first official trailer than the day i was holding the hardcopy in my hands, seconds away from starting the game.

I don't know what it is, i just know the road to the game was far more special and great than playing the game itself. Maybe that is because i'm not so much of a gamer, but now to jump on-topic here: Yes, it is worth to buy a new generation console (PS4 my decision) special for GTA V.

I've done this three times already, now going for the fourth. PS2, Xbox 360, PSP and recently PS4.

How do you get 2 blimps to spawn?

There is often one floating above Los Santos, not counting the one you can call to fly yourself. I think (but I could be wrong) only the atomic blimp generally spawns as an npc vehicle, but you can still get either the Atomic or Xero blimps for yourself.

Nope. Just like with old gen gta, ull get bored of new gen quickly after.

But if youre a hardcore fan and know how to enjoy the game without getting tired of it in old gen, then yes its worth it.

I sold my XBox 360 about a year before GTV came out for the PS4, so I was ready to play it again. I don't regret buying it a second time. It's worth noting, however, that in the past year a few standout games have been released that are worth your consideration. Most of which can now be had for fairly low prices.

Evil Within

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Alien: Isolation

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Far Cry 4

Crimes & Punishments: Sherlock Holmes
