steve ogg made trevor too likable (spoilers)

Michael's still head and shoulders the most interesting, well written character. Franklin's bland in comparison. Trevor was a great character - the reason he veers all over the place is precisely because his character is supposed to be so unbalanced. It's the very reason him and Michael get on well one moment and the next all hell breaks loose. Ultimately it's why he can no longer be around if you choose to kill him.

 

I didn't care about Johnny being stomped to death because TLATD was horrendous.

Trevor is a character and Ogg plays it brilliantly.

 

He's my favourite protag, just nice to see something new. Mike's boring as hell and Frank is good but we've seen it before with CJ.(that aspect, not the character before you get butthurt)

After playing the story almost without skipping any cutscenes I began to like Trevor and dislike Michael even more tbh. I do like Franklin more than Trevor though, but still: Lamar > All of them.

Most of this forum is thrown off by the character looks personality, humor and loudness and most of them are butthurt because he killed Johnny in a sh*tty way.

I felt neutral towards Trevor, I didn't like him nor did I dislike him. I chose ending c not because I liked him, but because the other endings didn't feel right imo. Plus I like the idea of having everything open up to me after I was done with the story mode.

The likeness of him if he had a different voice, then maybe he wouldn't be so likeable and yeah trevors personality is so confusing he was kind and loyal making it even more confusing, making it hard to not like him.

 

1.he had a hard time killing michael even if he wanted to he didn't

2.he agreed to save lamar why?

3.he saved michael from merry weather coming up with a stupid excuse that only he can kill michael

4.at the end of the game after ending c in hangouts michael will start to apologize to trevor and he will accept it even understanding michaels situation, i did alot of hangouts as i felt bad about doing ending a and b so i did them alot to have them socialize lol.

5.In ending a or was it b franklin will call him to say that he will kill michael, and even though trevor thinks he wants michael dead he still got mad and said he wants no part of it calling him a traitor.

 

He was just so confusing, i didn't believe the sick things he did it's like they were just added by the writers, i didn't believe he did them it's weird if they wanted to make him likeable then this is what would have happened in my opinion.

 

1.he tortures michael just after finding out the lie, when the chinese comes in so he has to escape.

2.he laughs about lamarr and says it's your problem kid

3.he never saved michael from merry weather

4.he was never available for any hangouts

5.he will help kill michael and proceed to try to kill franklin for merry weather at which point he has said to ron that he is using them to get what he wants

6.if he actually did make floyd into human stew to the point where you hear it happening

 

if they did this with trevor then it would be very different

 

Oh and if he had a different voice, theres alot of things that could make him the sick hatable character he was supposed to be, but they failed with that in my personal opinion, they tried but they made him too tame to be hateable, sure he did alot of sick things but we never saw him do any of them we are just told he did them apart from johnny, i just never believed that he did them it's extremely hard to explain, they had a good start with johnny then it's like they gave up.

It's funny because all of the 3 characters were created after a different type of GTA player. Trevor is the maniac,and it's really funny how nobody understands his genius,which is just...being crazy,loud,stupid and angry all at once. Trevor is PROTO-GTA-PROTAGONIST.

But this is GTAForums so... Nothing is good about GTAV or Rockstar.

I agree. Trevor the character is a horrible, pathetic little sh*t, but Ogg's performance was undeniably excellent. He actually made us sympathise with one of the most unsympathetic characters of any game, ever.

 

 

 

 

From killing Johnny in his first few minutes of the game, to torturing an 'innocent' man, to willingly and knowingly sleeping with another man's wife as a reward for murder, to the murder of his 'room-mate' and his wife...

 

 

 

He's just f*cking horrible. I worry that people on here claim they can relate to him. And yet, despite all of that, Ogg plays the part so well that it's almost possible to just... overlook all of this because he's occasionally quite amusing.

Floyd posts on LifeInvader "He's finally gone" or something like it, refering to Trevor leaving.

Floyd posted that in lifeinvader when T exiled to Sandy Shorees with Patricia as a "hostage".

I don't know if it's me but on the 1st Trevor missions

he has like a crazy jack nickleson / the joker type personality.

 

trevor killing the lost, burning down the Irish meth house

the stuff he would say while killing others...

 

i just think they went overboard / overkill with the cross dressing cannibal

 

i play Franklin the most

I actually like the character. Steven Ogg's performance was excellent, well played and amusing to see. What I like about Trevor, besides the random bursts of psychopathic rage, is how loyal he is to his friends. He helps Franklin several times, and in the end of the story he's in good terms with Michael again.

 

I'm aware that there's a complete bias against V and Trevor in his forum, which I find pretty stupid sometimes (no offense to anybody), but IMO V is a great game with interesting characters such as Trevor.

Trevor is the best GTA character yet or atleast equally tied with Tommy Vercetti, All the past GTA rampages needed a Trevor really, The guy is just plain cool for escaping real life and acting out, Roleplaying if you will so we have to like Trevor just for that.

Personally I sort of both like and dislike Trevor, he's a funny character with some really fun missions but certain aspects of him (The stuff put in just to make the masses laugh) and him killing Floyd hold me back from liking him as a whole.

Trevor's easily my favourite. At least there are reasons we can latch on to as to why we love/hate him. He has character, ok it's a little f*cked up, but it's clear as day and you immediately know what kind of guy Trevor is. It's a world away from Michael "cliché" Townly and Franklin "meh" Clinton.

I guess the reason Frank & Mike are so popular is that because they are so boring - there's no real boundaries as to what the character himself would do.
Michael is a loving family man and a violent armed robber, and Franklin wants to leave the paper chase of the hood behind, but at the same time has no issue with killing different people for money, so no matter what you do in the game, M & F somehow fit the situation.

With Trevor, you feel as though you're somehow encouraged to do messed up sh*t, and while that may not be in the true spirit of the "play your way" GTA series, and I understand why people wouldn't like that, he's by far the best defined character in V.
