Ai®a©ob®a Posted December 11, 2014 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I don't agree there aren't enough news stories being posted to warrant a whole new subforum and if they did it would most likely be spammed by people who will just make topics about news that nobody cares about and it will just be clutter for the mods to clean up. In the gen chat section there are only a few news stories that are trending while all the others have slipped down to the 2nd and 3rd pages with only a few replies in each of em. RedDagger Posted December 11, 2014 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Well, of the 39 on the first page of Gen Chat right now (36 ignoring locked/moved threads), 7 are based on news stories, which is a fairly notable amount, plus I've often seen threads closed the news story wasn't that notable for gen chat - so it seems it wouldn't be unused, plus the spam issue is there for every subsection. However, the news threads often spiral off into general discussion that isn't focused on the news story - something that is more appropriate for Gen Chat, and would kinda miss the point of having a place to discuss news stories. Apart from that, I can't imagine there being enough worthwhile discussion to warrant it being its own section - bland commenting on news stories isn't the kind of thing a forum is for. a20characterusername 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

See that is the point i was making about folks will spam the thread with "news stories" about anything and everything just wasting bandwidth and leaving the mods a big mess to clean up. I'd take a good current event discussion over a sappy spammy thread any day of the week.
