Same! I'm experincing it at this very moment.

It gives me this error code: CE-34878-0.

Will google it now.

Yup, same error code for me too. Wtf could be casuing this? There's been no update to the game or to the console since I last played it. :S

I searched for the error code and found this: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5111/~/ps4%3A-error-codes

Step 1: Close the application, install the latest system software and game update, and restart the system.

- I already have the latest system software and game update, so no help there.

Step 2: If a PS Camera is connected to the system, remove it and reboot the system, then go to [settings] > [user] > [Login Settings] and turn "Enable Face Recognition" OFF.

- No PS camera connected to the system.

Step 3: If you have upgraded the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in your console, please re-install the original HDD.

- I have not upgraded the HDD in my console.

Step 4: If the error occurs again, back up your saved data, and then go to [settings] > [initialization] and choose [initialize PS4].

- Not really interested in doing that.

Step 5: If the error continues and occurs with every application, or as soon as the application starts, please contact PlayStation Support.

- I guess that's what we can do?

I've reported the error to Sony. Hopefully they fix this crap soon.

A new find: http://ps4daily.com/2014/09/ps4-error-ce-34878-0-fix/

The PS4 error CE-34878-0 is displayed when a game or system application crashes. When the system crashes, all unsaved progress is usually lost. The error tends to happen to PS4 games that are poorly optimized or have bugs and glitches.

I got the same error, I'm reinstalling the game and redownloading the update.

I got this as well. Not played for a few days and it won't boot up. Gets to the gunshot sounds on the rockstar screen then cuts out and gives me the error code :(

I'm reinstalling the game. Hope it works.

Alright lads, let us know if that works.

I got the same error, I'm reinstalling the game and redownloading the update.

Exactly what i'm doing. fingers crossed it works!

This is messed up

When Raoul Duke says it's messed up, we know we're f*cked! We need golf shoes!

I'm hoping the reinstall works, this better not affect my game saves...if they are corrupted because of this I don't know what i'll do!!!

This probably means that there was a bug with saves in GTA V - Rockstar have obviously done something with the game recently, because a lot of people are getting this error...

It seems the best thing is to wait for rockstar to fix what they've broken if this is the case, and it may mean there's nothing you can do in the meantime.

@smilersheps can you also play online?

Sorry mate, I haven't yet transferred my character from ps3 over to ps4, and hardly play much online GTA anyway.

If no one else can answer this fairly quickly, I can do the transfer thing and check for you!

@Ciaran: did it not just take you into your last save once it had installed?

So it seems multiple people are having success by disconnecting from the internet.

It's obviously only going to be a temporary solution, but right now it seems to be the only way to play.

My game is reinstalled but I keep getting the error. : /

Turn your internet connection off and try going into the game then.

Just done that and it works.

This sh*t is weird.

Guys don't freak out and don't delete anything. Just log out of PSN and you should be able to play. Offline mode at least, and wait until this is fixed. Hope this helps.

Also once you've disconnected, connecting online will produce the error again, so there's absolutely no online play currently.

I have also redownloaded the game, but now it's taking forever to install. Currently at 1%, and it's been like that for the last 5 minutes.

Edit: 6%!

Same thing happened to me so I cancelled the installation and tried again. It's installing fine now.

You mean that you closed down the program and started it again?

Edit: Just did this and it helped.

The install went up to 5% in the matter of 10 seconds!
