Serious question, what is the appeal of assisted aim in multiplayer?

I'm kind of surprised seeing people say that they play AA because of the AI accuracy. I actually switched to FA while I was playing SP and just never changed it when Online launched because it was getting boring.

That's the best part of being an auto aimer. We just set the controller down, say PS4 earn money and it does all the work for us. I am at work right now watching my character on my ps vita. Currently halfway thru method in the madness.

Typical free aim elitist post. And this is coming from someone who also uses free aim.

On the FA/AA thing, it's horses for courses. No style is better than the other as it is purely down to individual preference. Don't really see why folks are getting upset about it - it's not as if AA players are mixed in with FA players. Non-issue really.

Exactly, you swear they are mixed together!

My biggest gripe with auto aim is that on-foot players can lock on nearly anybody in vehicles. IMO this should only apply to Traditional GTA aimers and not with Assisted aimers.

After all the Assisted Aim type of auto aim is a bit closer to FA to an extend. The lock on range is much shorter compared with TA, once the target is behind something the auto breaks after a shirt amount of time, the lock on isn't as strong (therefore those of us who use FA in AA will find it easier to break the lock), etc.

Really though, there's nothing special in using any of the three aim modes other than preference. Its not like "ur a hardkor geteay fan 4 using tradetonal aim" or "ur a fail 4 not using ASSisted aiming" or "ur a retard for using aim lock". Its all about preferences and different play style. Just like why I go slowly through missions while others go in gun blazing. Sadly though its nearly impossible finding a respective player from both sides, especially for FA users.

E: Go f*ck yourself phone. Continue doubling what I post or writing the complete opposite of what I was actually trying to say and I'll stop using you for posting here. Bullsh*t.

You relax by committing mass murders? :panic:

I have no appeal in AA because I enjoy a somewhat competitive field that rewards those who play and punishes those who don't.

But I can see why people prefer to just let the game point them in the general direction. As they say, they play to de-stress and not compete.

The only "problem" I have is when these AA-preferred users start boasting about how 1337 they are.

The same goes with the FA users. Not trying to put on FA or anything but almost every FA user here, with the exception of a few, keep bragging about how 1337 they are with their "skillz" in FA and they have the mentality of "if u dont play da game liek ho i do den ur _____". But hey, idiots are in both sides, making us both look like fools.

AA: sh*tty K/D CoD children who take their hacked KD waaaay to seriously.

FA: sh*t kids who think that they're superior for using a different aiming style.

OT: I'll be honest, both takes skills to master, albeit its different.

AA = Defensive skills. You're driving an Adder at top speed and somehow I can lock onto you and burst your head outta your neck. Just like how it doesn't make sense, its rather hard for those who use vehicles and ESPECIALLY those who ride on bikes like me to survive in a gunfight. This can't happen in FA, at least with car drivers since the bike drivers are exposed.

FA = Offensive skills. If you can't shoot for sh*t then you'll never survive in FA lobbies, period. Be it against RL players or the AI. Especially if you can't aim using L2, which IMO takes far more skills than simply using R2.

If the free-aim mechanics weren't so sh*tty and stiff more people would probably use it.

Do we really have to ask why some people prefer assisted aiming though? It's pretty f*cking obvious why.

Except you're making a fool of yourself when you brag about a game mode.

Playing without an aim lock doesn't make you special.

I remember reading this thread from IV....

I used to use both options and have on V also, but I find that because FA is harder for most, that they don't use guns, But RPG's, grande launcers, Tanks and Buzzards. So the camp who says FA is the only way is BS, as I have yet to find a player not blowing me up and using a gun which is the point of FA,

Anyway for the most part I use a Sniper, Marksmen & Rifle free aim from a distance before the lock on works in AA so does it matter what you use? No

In the end there are people who use the Lazzer all day and or place sticky bombs on cars and are willing to ''Ally Snack Bar'' and kill you and them selves for a kill which is dumb.... or those clowns who take your bounty and then go Passive so you can get them back is all bull... use what you want, and what ever gets the job done... personally I want to kill and stay alive for a bigger KD :D

I enjoy free-aim but what kills it for me is this

1.Free-Roam is decently populated but there is no-one in deathmatches, races, etc.

2. No matter how I adjusted settings the aim feels very stiff and frustrating.

3. Combat roll becomes a staple in battle and ruins the immersion for me. It just gets ridiculous seeing two people roll back and forth exchange potshots in the middle of the road.

4. If someone is a bitch in a vehicle, you cannot kill them easily. Even a headshot won't kill them if they have BP-helmet and full health/armor.

Here's why I switched to/prefer assisted-aim despite actually enjoying the concept of free-aim more.

1. If someone is acting a fool, I know I can aim and fire. I think that should be a given instead of these combat roll battles. I think the punishment of lock-on aim makes people think outside the box more and allows for creativity and strategy.

2. Tied in with the first point, I find that I kill people who are inferior, and people who are superior kill me. They don't kill me by " simply pressing two buttons" as the neigh-sayers proclaim.

3. This one is a huge reason for me. If people are going to be bitches in cars I can shoot them easily.

Assisted aim is the way gta was meant to be played and with assisted aim lobbies are fun and always full. free aim lobbies are rarely ever full and are made up of people who look like this

that's interesting about FA point 3 and AA point 1, because I swear that the combat rolling happens more in AA since it negates the lock on. Probably just personal experience, but I haven't witnessed it as much in FA for some reason.

I play in AA because:

-NPCs have perfect accuracy.

-NPCs can lock on me through bushes and the likes. I can lock on them with AA, but I cannot do that with FA.

-If I'm standing in front of 5 NPCs with nowhere to cover, I can put them down quickly before they kill me. With FA, I'm pretty much dead.

So yeah, that's pretty much it.

However, PvP is better with FA, imo. No stupid combat rolling every two seconds.

I started playing with FA. I beated the campaign twice using FA only. I switched to AA because it's more relaxing and I can stand a better chance against NPCs (I don't do PvP that much). I can still FA fairly well whenever my AA is out of reach.

From my experience throughout the year, combat rolling is spammed to hell in free aim. Rolling with assault shotguns was especially popular in deathmatches and freemode trolling, explosive and minigun spamming, drive-bys on motorcycles and reverse supercars, it seems as if they're equally prominent in FA as they are in AA. In that sense, it is much easier to kill in FA by using these "tactics" in an on-foot battle than they are in AA.

"This is a Third Person game you playing it on Free Aim is wrong" in your OP says something else.

And learn English, kid. I can't understand a single word. Also...

"im better dan u birch plz" Typical response from the AA kids. No need to waste my time with a child.

Riiight, because there aren't any sections of this forum dedicated to casual aspects of the game, nor are there any threads that focus solely on casual topics such as car appreciation threads :rol:

You do know that forums are meant for discussion, right? Who said you had to be a hardcore player to discuss a video game?

OT: I would play nothing but FA lobbies if it weren't for the fact that doing so ensures that any missions you join/host are most likely FA, too, which sucks balls with blind firing, accurate from anywhere and any range, AI.

God sometimes I hate the AA scrubs even more than the FA braggers. Probably because they put us nature AA users in shame.

BTW maybe off topic but if you want to learn how to be good at using Free Aim I highly suggest using either the Carbine Rifle or the Regular MG. Both are great in FA. All you find me using when I start free aiming in AA is these two guns.

Technically, it has aim assist, like every other console shooter.

It's nowhere near at the level of Assisted Aim (Partial), it's more along the lines of Free Aim (Assisted).

Edit: Actually...Free Aim assisted has a small snap window...

It's in between Free Aim assisted and Free Aim Full.
