Serious question, what is the appeal of assisted aim in multiplayer?

i think the thing being overlooked here is "ease of use" lets face it, with more people these days being more lazy than ever, why would they not pick the easiest way to play? hold 2 buttons (one to aim and one to fire) and having to move a little stick around is just too much work for most imo.

I mean, we still drive automatic cars, which requires the pressing of only two buttons.

i like using free aim in story mode because it makes the game more challenging. i dip into free aim lobbies only when free aim friends like hot kimera are playing because his deathmatch lobbies are always full. 16-20 player deathmatches are fun. other than that i'm mainly in assisted auto aim lobbies.

I can't believe this is still going. 19 pages.

Auto aim requires reaction time and free aim requires accuracy. Both require a different skill, which is why free aim people say that auto aim sucks (because they can't twitch fast enough and get wasted) and auto aim people say free aim sucks (because they're slow to aim and get wasted.)

Mom loves you both, now go to bed.

People keep forgetting on how ridiculously OP the GTAO NPC's are. Deadly accurate while dealing a ridiculous amount of damage in the same time. This makes the game dull and sh*t, even in AA lobbies (where its kinda evened out), much less in FA lobbies.

I swear, these NPC high-on-crack doolies are far stronger than the Twin Legendaries from Assassin's Creed 4!

The spawns is what make them even more deadly. If you've played Los Santos Connection or Stocks & Scares, you would know what I'm talking about. These f*ckers literally pop into existence right behind you and instantly riddle you with bullets.

There's a VERY good reason why I use the Savage in TLSC. :v:

Try Out of Harmony. I am yet to finish this mission thanks to the sh*t spawns of NPC enemies, or better yet - due to the sh*t balance-ment of the enemies.

I've seen the first person gameplay on newgen and it doesn't make the NPC's look OP maybe because GTAV is designed for first person gameplay even though first person gameplay looks like it needs work and also because there is no way to seperate or identify players playing in third person gameplay.

Some players should work on their twitch if they don't have that skill from the start in auto-aim and then move onto free aim where they can develope a full paced skill.

Exactly how my post is related to FP mode? I didn't even mention NG/PC. OP NPC's have nothing to do with the platform, at least as far as I know. I've seen countless LG+NG videos proving this.

i'm not talking about online missions though i'm talking about story mode. npc aren't over powered in the game. especially if you get head shots off.

I'm only mentioning that FP looks much better against the NPC's even though FP looks as though it could use some work. The NPC's may seem OP, but the overall physics of GTAV/GTAO make it this way.

Free aim is easy anyway. With guns having zero recoil and god like accuracy it isn't a challenge. You just need to combat roll and shoot at the head for a easy kill but, people use cheap skurbby weapons anyway.

Has anyone mentioned the scientifically verified that auto aim users ruin GTA?

It's not their fault though, changing aim preference takes, like, 12 seconds yo!

I play hybrid controller/M+KB so I like partial assisted aim. Allows me to stay competive with my controller while not being horrible imbalanced.

Translaton:

Please re-affirm to me how "skilled" I am, and allow me to stroke my own ego over some nonsense that I think is a "skill"

LMFAO

get a life

You like challenges huh?

Learn chinese, or how to code in COBOL....or become an Army Ranger...otherwise STFU because those are challenges. Playing free-aim in GTA Onine is just stupid....and while stupid may be challenging, it is still stupid.

" look at me, I play in free aim! "....fishing for affirmation is pathetic, even worse in a game obviously not designed for free-aim and then going around pretending like everyone else is doing something wrong. It is about as bright as playing darts outside in a wind storm and then saying "how come everyone plays darts indoors??"

....it's because we aren't retarded

When discussing in game topics people usually mean with in context of the game. This includes free aim. Obviously if people suck at free aim but have room to improve then that's called skill. WITH IN CONTEXT. SAY IT WITH ME. Besides most who bitch about free aimers are absolutely garbage anyways. *ahem*

There is zero additional skill in strafing side to side your cursor across the killzone or head of your target in free aim than there is skill in quickly moving your crosshairs quickly up off center mass and onto the head for a headshot before your adversary doe sthe same to you or kills you outright with body shots in aim-assist.

Get a life if you need to reach this far to feel special about yourself.

I don't like challenge. I play to relax. :^:

You're right, leave the professionals play together.

So you get paid to play GTA? Great job if you can get it, congrats!

Odd though, I find free aim to be a spam fest of RPG's, jets and other EZ Mode kills so very little in the way of "aiming" needed and certainly no more "skill" that should entitle people to feel they're better at the game. The majority of my kills are sniper rifle so game mode makes little difference to me.

I play on PC with a controller so I use assisted aim.

I am at a huge disadvantage against a mouse and keyboard player.

I tried playing on mouse and keyboard and felt it was way superior than a controller especially when it comes to aiming.

Ok I get that some might prefer to play assisted aim against the sharpshooting AI in missions and survivals, but I will never understand why players prefer it to freeaim when playing against other players. GTA to me is all about the cars and shooting, but the two cannot mix in assisted aim, vehicles are a death trap, so you either walk around the map and take cover behind objects or you end up getting easily killed if any players are that way inclined.

I know free aim is difficult, but that's what makes it appealing and rewarding to me, I like the challenge of aiming myself, why don't others?

Please I really don't want any spam or bigoted responses, saying that I'm an elitist showing off. I genuinely want to know why players want the game to aim for them!?

Its pretty simple, its a lot easier and faster to kill your target.

When I was on last gen I only used assisted aim but now that I'm on PC, with no controller, I use free aim. Honestly the only reason I would never switch back is because I'm now really comfortable with free aim. To me it's all about what is comfortable for the individual

You will either see marksman spammers, miniguns / rockets, or players in supercars tossing sticky bombs / mines left, right and centre. A few will use regular guns, though.

I used to only play freeaim exclusively. Ended up being too hard to find matches, and all my friends played assisted. It's fun. This game isn't meant to be taken so seriously, esp. not free roam. Maybe you should chill and let people play they want instead of insulting the way they have fun. Just makes you look like a prick.

I love Free Aim, but don't let these Free Aim guys talk down to you. As soon as they get tekt they pull out the RPG's and other explosives.

That also happens in auto-aim too. Two weeks ago, I versed these two guys who picked a fight with me first. I managed to keep killing them both while using a combat MG, and they were using an AR or MG too, which made it fair. When they knew they were being outskilled in a 2 vs 1, they decided to whip out rockets, a minigun, and resorted to the spamming of the marksman rifle.

It was already a 2 vs 1, and they only made it more unfair, since they couldn't take getting defeated by only 1 player.

Cackling Jack

God im sick of hearing about how free aim players are better than the auto aim players like myself or auto aim players have no skill or how free aim players suck. Just get over yourselves. Its a players preference on how they want to play the fu*king game. Rant over.

The problem here is the fact the option exists. The GTA series is the only modern series that uses this "lock-on auto-aim" to this day while all other game series involving weapons, first and third-person alike, use the "sticky aim assist" model (CoD, Destiny, Battlefield, Halo, Gears of War, and even Metal Gear Solid V uses this). For most of us growing up playing on PS2/Xbox, the "lock-on" has always been the way we played GTA, mostly because the controls for shooting were horrendous by the time San Andreas came around. Come to 2013 and R* North still hasn't perfected the third-person shooter aspect for GTA, something that should have been nailed after Max Payne 3. Combined with the slow and clunky "realistic" animations that this game utilizes, GTA V is a bottom-tier third-person shooter at best. Also, as other people have stated, the game never prompted us about that option of changing the aim settings; veterans from GTA IV and people that have done their research about this game would know about something like that, but not somebody new to the series.

If GTA was more of a traditional shooter in regards to controls and fluid animations, not to mention utilizing the traditional aim assist model that every modern shooter uses, this wouldn't be a problem at all. For the next GTA, R* North should consider teaming up with the Konami team that worked on MGS5, because in terms of controls, combat, and just overall fluidity of movement, Phantom Pain was one of the smoothest third-person games I've ever played. The lack of crouching in this game didn't exactly help either.
