Serious question, what is the appeal of assisted aim in multiplayer?

Just watched a supposed elite free aiming crew video. Hardly any gunplay at all. Just a bunch of melee and bomb throwing.

What? People brag about playing free aim? Just look at videos of them playing dms in free aim, all they do is swipe left to right constanstly until they head shot. Why do you think they only play flat regular "Run & Gun" maps like "Training Facility"? Put them in a map where there are elevated platforms and watch them struggle to aim up or down to kill someone.

AA isn't so bad until some fag thinks they're god with an AUTOMATIC AIMING SYSTEM.

Not disagreeing with you, but the same is said to FA players.

 

Just because you use X it doesn't mane you superior because other people use Y instead of X.

Im not saying that x players are superior to y players.

BUT

if a person uses aa and brags that they're" good" are total morons. There is nothing impressive about a game doing the aiming for you.

On the other hand people who play free have the right to brag bc they actually worked hard to sharpen their aiming abilities. Although people turned this SHOOTING game into an explosive war so technically aa and fa don't matter at all when someone fires a rocket at your feet.

 

There's nothing impressive about any aim style. Why? Because it's a video game.

I love this guy. WHen he says impressive, he's talking about within the context of this game, which BTW, is what this forum is for. He isn't making any claims outside of this.

I would play on free aim if lobbies weren't empty and if people invited me to a normal deathmatch instead of a rng map or whatever.

Well it's is default and a lot of people don't know how to switch it; that is what I assume about it. I am a freeaimer and honestly it is worth the switch.

 

That's a good point, one thing I noticed different in next gen on GTAonline was that players during the introductory stuff with Lamar are explained the different options available for aim preference, I wish Rockstar did a bit more to promote free aim like that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, good to know you and I think the rest of the Queens of the Damned have switched to free aim

Interesting point, in my experience of assisted, automatic aim, it can often boil down to who is more patient to remain in cover.

I guess everyone is equal, and only patience and a degree of being more willing to camp makes the difference, thanks for sharing your thoughts though, I personally find the 'tactical' waiting game in cover very dull though.

Free aim is better! If you liked to play assisted aim, where is the challenge? It is too easy...It is as if the Console was playing for you.

Please. . . I've tried having standoffs with players in auto aim lobbies. Playing tactical gets you nowhere, and why's that? Well, because as soon as you get behind cover, they pull out a rocket launcher and blow your nuts off. I honestly hate aim assist lobbies. It should NOT be possible to kill me in my vehicle going 60+ mph. I wish the lobbies were set to free aim by default. Better yet, take aim assist away from being able to lock on to people in cars. You can't lock on to npcs like that! F'n Ballaz and cops! But yes, I personally love free aim myself but sometimes I like to play casual and let the game aim for me. I just wished more people like free aim. Aim assist is the reason I'm in passive mode all the f'n time.

You die easier in auto-aim lobbies, where as in free aim lobbies, you can around without worrying about being insta-killed. That's because in free aim, you have to manually aim and land your shots accurately on your target, which is extremely difficult to do in third person games like GTA V, especially when you're on a controller. Auto-aim can be just as tricky as free aim, since you die much more quicker and easier. Plus, you have to know when to combat roll and know when your enemy is going to get back up to his feet, so you can lock on again.

 

Auto-aim - Easier to kill and easier to die.

Free aim - Harder to kill and harder to die.

 

So, in conclusion, both aim settings do require a degree of skill, and at the end of the day, it's all down to preference and play style.

I never play in Free Roam unless it's with friends in an invite only game, but I never use free aim because of how much of a sharp shooter the AI is in this game.

Because I've been used with Assisted Aim for 11 years and some free aimers (used some to not generalize) pray and spray on free aim.

 

But I play on free aim too. For example, there's no auto lock when you're shooting from inside a car.

I like the change in aiming style free aim in car, rpg, sniper, grenade launcher.

 

From doing so many missions in a karuma it is habit to ride the right stick anyway so lock then up to head with assisted aim guns in any case.

 

I like how in an auto aim lobby i have to be aware of other players while driving around, and have become good at driving whilst ducking.

 

I hate more than anything being run over, as it is usually in a karuma that this happens and an rpg is my favourite solution, no assist on that aim.

I never liked Auto-Aim even since GTA IV or any game for that matter like CoD i turn Auto-Aim off. I found an ammu-nation in Los Santos with a sign above the door saying "down with Auto-Aim".

you are supposed to use R2 which makes you jog around while shooting. then you move in circles while aiming your sights at the head of the opponent. thats how free aimers do well. standing still and aiming with L2 won't get you anywhere if your opponet is decent.

Not really appeal. It's more of a necessity, especially to console players who can't shoot properly with free aim.

I play free aim because I have more control on what I shoot.

When discussing in game topics people usually mean with in context of the game. This includes free aim. Obviously if people suck at free aim but have room to improve then that's called skill. WITH IN CONTEXT. SAY IT WITH ME. Besides most who bitch about free aimers are absolutely garbage anyways. *ahem*

For me it's basically because it was default and after playing story it made sense... But I personally think it would be a lot better if it was on free aim for all the games modes except maybe missions and heist cause I already have sh*tty players with me all the time dont want it to get worse haha.
