Actually I don't own GTA V yet since I don't have a 7th or 8th gen console of my own (I only loan them from time to time). But once I do get it it will be my 9th GTA game. 12th considering I have San Andreas on Steam, Mobile and PS2 as well.

I don't drive yet, (next year) so I can't decipher which game is real or not between GT and Forza. To be perfectly honest, not many people here can. How many of you have actually driven on a track against other people or by yourself? How many of you have tuned your suspension, tire dimensions, etc. to get the optimal performance?

Fact of that matter is that, nobody here except for maybe Sivispacem can decipher which game is real or not. Many are biased based on which game they think feels real, but I doubt anybody here has the time, money, or desire to tune their car over and over again and take it on a track time and time again.

So, please... stop the arguing about which game you think is arcade-like and which one is a simulator. Unless you can solve it in a civilized manner, keep on topic.

f*cking casuals actig like they know whatthey're talking about.

Forza is arcade as f*ck. It's not a full sim, it's an arcade track racer which puts more effort into being "exciting" with the whole livery editor and Drivatar thing.

seriously, it's not an argument about which we "think" is arcade like. It's just f*cking fact. It's like me calling Mario Kart a racing sim. That's not an "argument", it's just complete bullsh*t.

I literally said that I can't have as much as some on the topic since I don't even drive. I don't know how you feel about GT but, there are literally contests on Gran Turismo that deal with the best driver racing on an actual track

.

Don't even say that because there are liveries we can design and personalize, it's any less a SIM than GT or real life itself. In actual motorsport, you get cars with liveries on them and sponsors. The only difference is that here, you can customize them yourself instead of having a team.

Stop fighting with each other. Both are Simcade anyway. If you want REALISM play Rfactor or Richard Burns Rally.

FM4 and GT6 blows the living sh*t out of GTA V in terms of driving. But sometimes I kinda like GTA V's driving, but overall I got mixed feelings for GTA V driving.

I just drove a Furore GT in GTA V and then drove my GranTurismo in Forza Horizon. I don't know what wrong with some of you people but the driving in Forza is definitely fun. Like REALLY fun. The sense of connection, the feeling that you're actually driving. And it's not that challenging or hard either, it's pleasureful. It's really a joy.

I agree that a majority are probably against things like pit stops, refueling, tire wear, etc.

But I think people would LOVE more in-depth car customisation, at least deeper than we have currently. I agree there's a point where it goes too far.

I don't think (most) people would enjoy having to change the setup of their car before every race to optimise it for that particular course/lap number/etc but it would be great if there were more variables to the customisation and setup of a car (Offroad tires being better offroad, spoilers/etc increasing traction (at higher speeds) but also lowering top speed, carbon fiber lowering vehicle weight),

Or you just do what I do and don't f*cking bother with tuning setups. Virtually no one does and you can always go on and buy setups from other people. And most of those setups are not track specific. They don't bother with those, because no one is going to waste time uploading them for tracks when you can spend your time either talking sh*t to other people or railing on about whatever horrible accident you got into and haven't gotten over. Most tuning setups on Forza 5 at least are class specific or "drift" setups. I spent the best part of 20 minutes a couple of days ago looking for a setup that allowed me to retain most of my ridiculous horsepower and torque output on my Nissan GTR with a VK54 swap (because it sounds badass) and ended up having to settle for less power and less torque for improved handling and less amounts of crippling understeer.

My second point is about the driving. Generally speaking, most online lobbies (again on Forza 5) have a higher caliber of driver on them than those on GTA V do. Mainly because people like to have clean racing and enjoy actually trying to see if they can beat friends and race in a skillful manner rather than just purposely ram people off the road and act like a bunch of penises. Yes, there are people that do that but they are few and far between and are sometimes removed from the lobby faster than you can say "Nurburgring Nordschliefe" (or however you spell it). There are issues, I will admit. First and foremost is people who refuse to look around and see where other cars are and where they are in relation to them and where they might be. For example, I may be taking an inside line to pass someone on a corner and they come across to take the inside line as we go around the corner, thus hitting me and sometimes spinning off. That is annoying. Secondly is people trying to fit into gaps between cars that they won't fit and create a clusterf*ck, usually present at the start line/first corner. Third is people passing in corners or in ridiculous places. But generally speaking, people are better.

As for the whole "pitstops, refuel" etc, that is not present in online lobbies, even in endurance races. You can have damage on three settings and change tire wear and fuel consumption but most races are between two and three laps long. So it's not warranted.

Become a car journalist. Problem solved. :pp

And you wreck a car and whatever manufacturer lent it to you won't do it again.

f*ck off, you casual.

Did you sh*t the bed or something this morning?

The best part of this thread is Lazyboy talking utter nonsense (yet again).

Anyway, to answer the thread's question, I race a quite a bit on GTA but I prefer Forza & Gran Turismo by a good deal.

So now we're complaining that track racers have tyre wear and pit stops?

"waah waah why is this game made for a demographic I'm not part of"

go back to mario kart m8.

I just feel like I'm playing a go kart game on PS2 whenever I race in V. IV was much more engaging and bundle of fun. I still wouldn't compare IV racing to these semi-simulators. Not even to Horizon 1 or 2.

I've even found that aspects of Horizon 1 and 2 differ from the rest of the Forza franchise. For example, I made a Mercedes-Benz 190 touring car replica and put as much negative camber on the wheels as they would go. I noticed no difference in handling on Horizon and when I did the same thing on 5, I noticed that there was a lot of difference. There was more grip and a surprising amount of understeer.

Although in saying that, now with first person, playing Forza 5 has essentially "prepared" me for driving in first person on V. I still think like I do on 5 by forming racing lines on familiar circuits and using the kerbs as rumble strips.

Just chill out man, it's not worth it. :)

Forza Horizon 1 and 2 maybe are arcady but you can feel the sense of weight of the car. I played FH1 at my friend's house and it was a blast.

(Still prefer GT over Forza though.)

I don't know what it is with me and GT vs Forza. Maybe it's because I grew up with GT, GT3 was the first game I ever played, but I just got tired of it and Forza felt like a completely new experience. To me it feels more engaging.

I grew up with GT and I can still remember playing GT2 for the first time and that intro made me really want to play it again just for nostalgia sakes. However I'm still getting used to Forza and to me it kinda feels weird and honestly from a new Xbox user (got my 360 because my friend was selling it for 4,000 pesos. Equivalent of 100 dollars.) the handling is very different from GT, and Forza feels it has more soul and more engaging than the realism and more motorsport driven Gran Turismo series.

I think that the special events in GT are better than FM because of the way that they show their true dedication to motorsport as shown in the Goodwood FOS and the Ayrton Senna tribute in which is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest drivers of all time. Forza on the other hand, they quite fall shortly and are not as good as the ones in GT despite I love Jezza, Hamster, and Captain Slow. Gameplay wise, Forza wins in that aspect. The physics in GT are a lot better than Forza, but Forza offers more customization, and obviously has better engine sounds. Track selections, I think GT wins, with great circuits that were never in Forza such as Brands Hatch and Monaco, In which are legendary tracks. The made up tracks as well are better than Forza. Grand Valley Speedway and Special Stage Route 11 are better than Prague. Car selection wise, Forza takes it, PD says that there are 1200 cars in GT6 but 100 of them are just multiple duplicates of Skylines and Miatas. Forza however, have car manufacturers that are not in GT like Koenigsegg and Porsche.

I think that after playing GT6, Kaz is isn't in his usual self, I think he does not want to make video games anymore and instead make his part time racing career full time. Danny G however keeps delivering more and more from each Forza game (Probably exept FM5, which is a downgrade from FM4.) I am anticipating both GT7 and FM6 because they are the only console racing games on the market that feels fun and realistic but not super realistic, just balancing the physics to cater audiences. To me however overall GT wins over Forza is because of being more of a car loving and motorsport loving franchise that GT is compared to Forza's catering to more casual car lovers. I love both franchises though. So guys, feel free to comment. :)

I don't remember Porsche being in 5. 4 either, unless that was the one that had the Porsche DLC.

FM4, with the Porsche dlc. FM5 however does not have Porsche, instead we got Ruf. FM4 got both Ruf and Porsche.

Meh, not that fussed. Never really a big fan of my Porsches and I like reminding people in Mustangs and Camaros that a bigger car is not always faster in a Caterham the same color as most sexual toys.

I do like the classic Porsches though, such as the 930 and the 964.

EDIT: FM3 actually have Porsches in it, no DLC.

I think you're the only stupid looking f*ck in this entire topic. You keep defending these games like they're your life. Maybe you don't have one? All you do is call people out when they try to give their OPINIONS so I have no idea what your game is. Stop calling people "casuals", you absolute twat. Are you some sort of professional gamer? Let me guess, MLG? I figured a kid like you would be into that sh*t. Go play some more free aim GTA V and crawl back into the cave you came from. You are the worst form of internet cancer I have seen yet on this website. You'd be doing the entire section a favor if you just stopped posting here.

Even if I liked the Horizon games, I still prefer Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo. It's just me that I prefer closed circuit driving over open world free roaming. But don't get me wrong, Horizon is one of the best arcade racing games out there.

Yeah it's just different preferences. I can tolerate closed course racing games but to me they'll never be as fun as the open world games. That's why I'm glad Forza does them both so you can drive a car on a track and then turn around and drive it around Europe (or Colorado).
