I'm pretty sure they stuck with GTA, because its more fun, not because of realism.

More fun? To some, realism = fun. Where the f*ck do some of you get off thinking there is a difference betweenn fun and realism? It's arcade vs. realism for f*cks sakes.

Because when your done racing, your free to go free roam and do whatever you want? Besides, you said it yourself. "To some, realism = fun". Well on this planet "To alot, arcade and ease of driving = fun". Different strokes for different folks...

You know it's better to have an open mind and realize that not everybody is the same though. My favorite types of games are arcade racers, racing simulators, and of course open world sandbox games. The reason why I find this comparison thread absurd is because it's comparing an open world sandbox game to two closed course racing simulators (well Horizon 1 and 2 are open world but you know what I mean). It's just stupid to compare these and it's stupid for you to say "when your done racing, your free to go free roam and do whatever you want?" I mean f*cking obviously you're not going to be able to get out of your car and do what you do in GTA in a racing game. So what's you point?

I don't drive yet, (next year) so I can't decipher which game is real or not between GT and Forza. To be perfectly honest, not many people here can. How many of you have actually driven on a track against other people or by yourself? How many of you have tuned your suspension, tire dimensions, etc. to get the optimal performance?

Fact of that matter is that, nobody here except for maybe Sivispacem can decipher which game is real or not. Many are biased based on which game they think feels real, but I doubt anybody here has the time, money, or desire to tune their car over and over again and take it on a track time and time again.

So, please... stop the arguing about which game you think is arcade-like and which one is a simulator. Unless you can solve it in a civilized manner, keep on topic.

f*cking casuals actig like they know whatthey're talking about.

Forza is arcade as f*ck. It's not a full sim, it's an arcade track racer which puts more effort into being "exciting" with the whole livery editor and Drivatar thing.

seriously, it's not an argument about which we "think" is arcade like. It's just f*cking fact. It's like me calling Mario Kart a racing sim. That's not an "argument", it's just complete bullsh*t.

I literally said that I can't have as much as some on the topic since I don't even drive. I don't know how you feel about GT but, there are literally contests on Gran Turismo that deal with the best driver racing on an actual track

.

Don't even say that because there are liveries we can design and personalize, it's any less a SIM than GT or real life itself. In actual motorsport, you get cars with liveries on them and sponsors. The only difference is that here, you can customize them yourself instead of having a team.

Where the f*ck did you get livery editor from?

You're this clueless about racing games? Seriously?

Whether a game is arcade or sim isn't based on a f*cking livery editor, it's based on its handling model and whether it actually simulates real life.

Forza does not simulate real life.

How is this such a hard concept for you to grasp? My opinions on GT and Forza are completely f*cking irrelevant, I like GT and Forza, I'm not gonna go calling Forza a sim because that's not what it is, it's not even what it tries to be.

They aren't even in the same* category. But the logical thing to do for someone who finds realism fun is to not play video-games at all. Video-games were made just for that, to escape from reality.

It isn't the f*cking 90's anymore. Gaming isn't solely "to escape from reality" anymore. So what is your point? That fun and realism aren't in the same category? Who the f*ck told you that? Newsflash: Just because you feel that way doesn't mean it's a fact. If I wanted realism, I'll play GT or Forza and I'll enjoy it because to me that is also fun. You're telling me I shouldn't play video games at all if I want realism? Do you really think my local Ferrari or Lamborghini dealer is just going to hand me the keys to one of their cars and allow me to race it on a real race track then? Really? Use your god damn brain.

What the hell is wrong with some of you?

I'm just going to start laughing at Lazy's comments. I think he is just having a bad week. 15 must be tough these days. I think we need to go pick him up and let him go take his drivers permit. $20 says he doesn't pass it and writes on his test in big letters "Your test is not a true simulation to driving" "Do you have anything with GT"? LOL

Doesnt beat IRL doe

if GTA had more of the Driver 1/Driver 2 style driving (which is more hollywood action style driving), It would have been more enjoyable to drive in GTA, despite having the cars be slow.

I've played Forza 1, 5 and Horizon 2. They've all got arcadey handling, too fast and floaty. It's good handling, but it's not sim.

Why the f*ck is this even an argument? What next, you try and argue over whether a metal sheet is made of metal? Other than your equally clueless "friends", show me anywhere else where Forza is advertised and referred to as a sim.

Protip: You can't.

No one is arguing except you Lazy. LOL. Your the only one that said that 99% are wrong on this thread when it comes to whats a sim and whats not along with other things. We all must be wrong and your the only one right. The genre gods also classifies Forza sereies as a racing simulation, they must be wrong as well. God your parents must be proud. How they haven't thrown themselves out their top floor window yet is behond me. If your arguing with us regarding this, I could only image how a night in your household is. LOL

I can go all day with my lame jokes. Remember, I'm on the clock at work right now getting paid to comment you back. I leave at 4:30 pm though. LOL. Corporate America at its best bud.

Yeah I don't find Forza to be as much of a simulator as GT. It is simcade, as you said, in my opinion but I find it much more engaging. Whipping up a nice winding backroad in Horizon 2 is much more lively than hitting up the Nurburgring in GT if you ask me. Again, that's just my opinion.

We can agree to disagree. My source was pretty much this group on YouTube that puts in alot of time with racing simulators.

https://www.youtube.com/user/SimRacingReview

Who is your source agian Lazy? Since you have been gaming for decades like the rest of us. I'm pretty sure I finished GT 1 before you were born though. I might be wrong but I think I got GT 1 on PS1, christmas of 97'. So you may have been born before I finished. It atleast took me 4-6 months I'm sure.

I never argued that GT was more of a sim than Forza. I just plain said Forza was considered a racing simulator along with GT, and Lazy argued it was never a racing simulator. Because he calls it a Simcade. Which if Forza is a simcade than I would have to consider GT a Simcade as well. That, I wouldn't dissagree. They are in the same Genre for sure though. Whichever it is.

We can agree to dissagree.

Use your god damn brain.

What the hell is wrong with some of you?

I could ask you the same thing.

First of all, when I said realism and fun aren't in the same category, I was actually taking your side (sort of). The person you raged at before implied they were opposites. They can't be because they aren't even in the same category. There's a better term for that than "category" but I don't know it cause sadly we weren't civilized enough at the time to study this in English.

Second, games may not be for escaping from reality but VIDEO games are by design. Obviously that's a metaphor, more or less, but the bottom line is that aiming for realism in a video-game is pointless. We already have one reality, why make another? Or, maybe that's not entirely correct, since video-games pretty much have their own realities already. Why make another reality identical to ours? It's also not possible at the moment, and I doubt it will ever be.

Third, you defend realism in games, but what you don't realize is that all you're essentially defending is a marketing tagline used to promote a certain type of games. Hence why Forza and Gran Turismo are your idea of realism, even though they aren't any more realistic that titles labeled as "arcade" like Need For Speed or, hell GTA V. You don't have to be an expert to figure that out:

What happens if you lose control of a car and crash at high speed in real life?

A. Nothing, like in Gran Turismo.

B. You escape unharmed, car takes minor damage like in Forza.

C. You get injured while your car takes damage and potentially catches on fire and roasts you alive (or dead), like in GTA V (although admittedly, cars in GTA V take about as much damage as they do in Forza).

I have an idea, let's ask Paul Walker that.

f*ck off, you casual. Racing games are about racing, not crashing.

I don't play Gran Turismo and think "UUH GEE I WONDER WHAT HAPPENS IF I CRASH INTO THIS WALL"

If you hit a wall at 200mph you don't need some sh*tty Burnout cutscene to show you you've lost the race. It's a waste of my time, if I f*ck up, I restart the race, like everyone else.

See, that's where you're wrong. Racing IS about crashing, or more specifically, about avoiding it. But when crashing comes with no penalty, you're not motivated to avoid it. In Forza (or whatever "simulator" you prefer) you can easily grind against opponents to take sharp corners. In Burnout you're pretty much f*cked if you even think about doing that.

I dont play to crash but, since its part of the game and reality, it's there. It's a marketing aspect - some people play just to f*ck up, so they make damage as real as needed.

I'm sure that it they wanted to, they could make damage on cars look more real than GTA, (not saying that GTA is real, but damage is well detailed) but they probably wont do that for any game they make since it will take away from the fun of racing us real players and make casuals want to f*ck around even more.

Wow, some anger in this thread. Anyway, I think the initial question is somewhat interesting. Where does GTA stand compared to more or less realistic racing games. On an arcade to real scale with Mario Kart at one end we can probably place iRacing at the other end maybe with Assetto Corsa as a good number 2 in terms of realism. I haven't played iRacing but have played some Asetto Corsa and find it a bit more challenging than GT. GT is pretty realistic I reckon as long as you manage to stay on track, but If you don't balance your car properly braking into a corner you will fail. GTA IV and V are quite different, neither are very realistic but IV is a lot closer than V. IV requires pretty good speed adjustment entering a corner, but you can slam the accelerator even in a Coquette or a Banshee without much fear of spinning out. V is just an arcadey mess really. With a proper physics model that landscape could have been lots of fun to drive around in, but despite all the hills it just feels flat. It's like a chick with fake tits, it look impressive at first but as soon as it starts moving anyone with real life experience can tell its bullsh*t.

2. He compared the physics of GTA V's cars, not the gameplay itself and said they would rather stay with GTA instead of other games.

4. It's not stupid to compare these games. They're both games and you play them. Which will i play? Hmmmm.

5. But your stupid and pretty furious along with Lazy over this issue. If you feel so upset over people's views in a thread to state "I'm taking my opinions and posts to another part of the board!", then maybe it's time to take a break from here haha.

Hmmm:

In what dimension would that mean "everyone wants more realism in gameplay because its more fun", sir? Ok, so your video of some sh*tty casual making a "le funny moments XD" video to bait YouTube views represents the entire community of gamers who play racing games to race?

Go back to Mario Kart, silly Nintenyearold. Actual games are out of your depth.

I love you too princess. But for the record, I don't like Nintendo, they make good games but they've been releasing them over and over for the past decade or so. I am rather curious as to what you're doing on a forum dedicated to such an "inactual" game like GTA V though...

Actually, don't answer that, probably the same thing I'm doing on Xbox Live and PSN.

Anyway, bottom line is that your "actual" games aren't as realistic as their creators and "fans" claim they are.

Forum dedicated to GTAV? You do know this is a forum for the whole GTA series and that half the people here don't even play GTA?

Oh, that's right. Joined: 6 days ago.

1. Your the one without an open mind since you think everyone wants more realism in gameplay because its more "fun".

Hmmm:

"More fun? To some, realism = fun."

In what dimension would that mean "everyone wants more realism in gameplay because its more fun", sir? Oh, big internet tough guy putting people on the block. All i stated was a likely reason of why people stick with GTA Racing compared to other games, and you go on a tangent about "GTA ISN'T REEEEEAL, REAAAL IS FUUUUUN".

Give it up. You buzzed for a question and got it wrong. I'll see you in the Gen Chat and concepts part of the site.
