[IV/EFLC] Fujimi Kaido: SDP Edition

Hi i'm back with something new, a huge map of Southern Japan with a autumn theme.

I mostly used my time to put it all it's textures coordinates mapping in 3ds max and added autumn theme textures ( after the import from Forza Motorsport 4 the map was completely white and had uncoordinated mapping )

But because the map was designed specifically to roam in race view.. I remade ​​it into island and created extra dirt track and few hills in the center of the map so that everything was close together.
After following these simple things, i began to create 4 places to visit in game without all the time just driving around.

I do have used some models from Tomb Raider '13 and GTA V to complete my Japanese town and Village in the mountains where waterfalls are and high peak mountains that you can climb on now..
As third place to see is visit-center and castle I made all by myself and fourth is an industrial garage that haves something special and can be used as safehouse..
The reason i use some models from time to time is cause i work alone and lose lots of my free time on it , also because creativity is not allways the same and it helps me stay in the theme. For those who don't update themself on rules, i've asked permission to open this thread.

Good Job! It looks great and neat, only issue is the textures are too tiled. This is a commom problem when you texture large chunks of ground. Maybe you should create 4 or 5 grass, flowers and ground textures and vertex paint'em all around the map.

Also you can try doing this directly by the Material Editor. Don't know if GTAIV converting tools support this kind of map.

 

Also, it is good to look at some reference images, always the reference images, like:

I cleaned the IV map and use this map only this time. No need to have NY next to Japan, that feels weird :lol:

Thanks man, very constructive reply that i like. I recently learned how to make seemless textures with photoshop with magic brush so that will be fixed soon.

About blending i know how it all works, just waiting till end of this week when i have newer cpu. I'll test if 4 layer blending will work in GIMS, if not i'll try to use OpenIV or Alexander scripts to add that mount of layers.

Cause now i only did 2 layer blending and my max begun to lag with so much in scene. I'm upgrading my pc now to new SSD drive and CPU so my workflow wouldn't be an issue anymore.

 

About that sofa just create box, editable poly, chamfer the edges, smooth it a bit and spherify it.

Vegies comes later, now that i finnaly found solution to have 4 layers vertex blending in GIMS. And traffic paths should be possible, since IV haves one lane only roads.

 

Hopefully you had enough time to finish it. We all waiting for this. You are my inspiration.

Hey bro,

 

i use 3ds max 2011 and i can make 4 layers for blending with GIMS, i cant understand why you had problems before :(

 

Bravo for your Game OVERSTEP, i hope we can see some pictures or vids soon ;)

Here is some preview of the wip on those blending material with 4 layers and newer textures, should be all ready by next week with extra models for collision and normals/transparent diffuse textures.

It's going to be freakin' awesome once it's done :panic:

i think,

 

He needs V vegetation, its wonderfull but OMG how long it takes to place it on the map... for me its the "hardest" thing in map modding : props location...

 

In cityscape you have a tool that place your vegetation direct on the ground, i dont know if theres similar tool on 3dsmax...?

 

we could earn days and days... in our projects

 

 

Can't wait to see it vegetation rich.

Will be absolutely brilliant to see the result of you getting the car paths done how it turns out the cars driving on the left. This would mean be huge for UK/Ireland mods. I want to actually recreate my local bus route lol and recreate the towns and villages around by me but at the moment that's just dreams :p Most likely I'll of done that in real life before I was able to get around to do it in GTA :p Can't wait to see if there comes one day a GTA London mod. I sooo want to go bus driving and police patrolling in that :D Can't wait to see how this mod turns out :)
