Written by ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DYOM latest situation and news: Just like everybody noticed, DYOM’s section been a lot inactive. Just a couple of Mission Packs by the newcomers such as DBZOVERLORD700 and gtatrainlover. It’s not like how DYOM used to be in the past, one of the reasons of this inactivity is school period. However, everybody’s saying that they’ll be back as soon as possible. For example, Jimmy_Leppard, after taking a long break, gave us some clues about the name of his new mission-series, and later revealed that he’s gonna start making it in January 2015. On the other side, after a long time, BK90s made a post saying that there’s a chance that he won’t be able to continue the Flats because of his busy personal life. Also, Revolver, one and probably the best reviewer of nowadays said that he’ll be fully back by Christmas. And of course with a surprise, and as he mentioned, it’s gonna be a great one: Okay guys sorry for being to silent these days. I was busy and all that sh*t. Bear with me, by Christmas, I'll be fully back and I got some wicked sh*t to celebrate my return. And I know no one gives a sh*t about this message, probably you're thinking all like "Who the f*ck does this dude thinks he is? Who the hell cares 'bout you" and all that, but... just wanted to Say Something (talking about Say Something, you should hear it. It's a song, name Say Something. It's wicked awesome man) Secondly, Rytuklis who just came back too after taking a break, talked about starting a new Storyline once he finishes his current project, Las Venturas Stories: Hammer and Sickle and it’s gonna be mad big. He gave us a couple of details such as its devise in two parts, and that one of them is based on GTA IV: The lost and damned. Here's what he said: So, as I said when I first started Las Venturas Stories, that it is going to be my biggest project ever. And I was right, indeed it turned out to be the biggest project I've ever worked on, not to mention that, as unbelievable as it might sound, this is the first project I will actually properly finish according to the plan without shortening the storyline and making some rushed ending instead. It's also my most sucessful project - receiving great reviews ranging from 9 to 10 and being compared to the masterpiece called The Flats. But if you thought LVS was good, just you wait for Episodes from Vice City. That will be even bigger . It will be split into two seperate storylines - one will take place before the events of Vice City, focusing on unfolding the story of the Mitch Baker's biker gang. The prospering The Greasy Chopper MC faces a crysis when in an unfortunate accident with the police, the leader. Jack, gets killed and his right hand man, Conor, gets locked up. Upon being released after ten years of imprisonment, he finds that his gang is far from what it used to be - no more shooting, no more robbing, no more cocaine snorting - the club was pretty much dead, with their members having their asses stuck in the club, refusing all illegal deeds. Conor aims to bring the club back to its former glory, but now he has an obstacle - a new leader the club has elected themselves once he got locked up. The second one will take place in modern day Vice City. During 2005, the city faces great change in its governing and launches a huge investigation on organised crime. The Leader of the S.H.A.R.K.S, Klaus, ends up arrested and forcefully drafted into the army, entrusting his brother with keeping the gang alive. Upon returning to the city in 2014, he finds that the money he has sent to his brother on the daily basis is all spent on his nasty cocaine habit, while the gang is long gone, and what used to be their turf is now a territory of new gangs who have overthrown the old ones after their time has come. Klaus waves to bring the gang back to its former glory. And there’s a lot of others who are willing to come back soon, such as The Odyssey who mentioned coming back probably when Jimmy starts his mission-pack and GammoudiCJ (me) who said that he’ll be fully back too, once he’s done with his exams. Lastly, DYOM TV has been cancelled. After its release few months ago, Rytuklis made a post in DYOM magazine’s thread, talking about cancelling it since that he’s using his little time in making missions and finishing Las Venturas Stories: Hammer and Sickle. Before that, he’s been delaying its release dates. First, because of Stromae who didn’t make it and later because of his PC issues. But despite that, I salute Rytuklis for the amazing work he did, and I hope that one day, someone revives it and makes everybody sh*t themself just like he did. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The New Multi Designers project: Not a lot of informations are available about this project yet but as Revolver and the other members said, it’d be the best and biggest Multi Designers project ever. Once again, there’ll be designers making missions and each one will have a turn and a role. Therefore, this Mission pack’s gonna contain some voice acting in every mission, reviewers, writers of script, etc… The idea of this project started when Prince Gumball asked in the Designers Lounge if there’s somebody interested in making a couple of missions for his Lost Memories mission-pack since he’ll be gone for a couple of weeks. Later THBP talked about his thoughts about a system when he joined DYOM, a designer writes the script, one other makes the mission and another makes voice acting. Later Revolver gave a proposition about starting a new MDP which contains all the features mentioned above. Almost everybody liked the idea, while some didn’t. Sometime later, they created a chat group in Skype, and again Revolver who’s probably the leader of the project, said that they’re currently making a testing project to see each other’s capabilities and skills. But apart from that, nothing’s known yet. Oh god yes, Yes, YES. Like, a storywriter, some voicers, then some mission testers, with some final correcters, and at last some review. It's like a multi designer project on a whole new level. I think we can do this on Christmas, when people will have some day offs and we'll have something to talk 'bout when people ask "Hey, how did DYOM celebrate Christmas"Who's with me? C'mon, you know you want to do this with me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOTW Shutdown and Fanon Competition? Guys. Mission Of The Week is shutting down. No more contests. No more participants. Nothing. I and all the other winners had a great time playing your missions. Thank You. Just recently, Mission of the week’s been cancelled and shut down by Target13, the admin of the contests. It’s basically because of DYOM’s inactivity in this period, plus the participants’ number went down. Each contest, there’s only 2 or 3 designers making missions while the others just post something about participating and later, they don’t because of school which makes them so busy. Once MOTW 17’s finished, Target13 said that there won’t be any new contest and that MOTW’s gone, and soon AnDReJ98 will host Mission of the year which will be only voting at the end of this year. But alter, we’ve been surprised by some great news, Fanon Competition. gheorgeM made a new talking about starting a new series of contests. This one’s having some new features, you can’t participate unless you have a storyline. In fact, the designers have to design a mission related to the Mission pack that the host choose and it have to be his. A couple of DYOM designers liked the idea and said that they’ll participate. However, none did yet and the fate of this project is unkown. Will it end up like MOTW? It’s up to us to answer… ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cold Year 2: A couple of months ago, we’ve been surprised with a pleasure announcement which is Cold Year 2 by LnDProductions and Doublepulse. Just like in the first one, it’s devised in two parts, Two sides of the Law by DP and The Lover’s demise by LnD. Unlike the first Cold Year, there are episodes, side missions. Also there’s a big difference, there’ll won’t be desks like 1-5, it’s gonna be like Homicide desk, Vice desk… The first part is somehow related to the Cold Year, some characters and antagonists are appearing and having a big role in the episodes. Doublepulse, said a long time ago that he’ll release a couple of cases in the next few weeks, but sadly there’s no progress seen yet. The second part is not related to the first Cold year and not a lot is known about it. Even Doublepule said that LnD had no idea how to start story. Besides the story and the name of the characters are already announced. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mission Walkthrough: Trust by Alan Eastwood The mission starts with a scene showing Clarence and Andy shooting Hope agents, while Carl’s sitting back with Bob who’s got hit and Thomas crouching and asking Carl who’s not answering about what they will do to deal with this situation. The scene then switches to an agent aiming at the survivors with a RPG, a big explosion is seen followed by a dark cutscene. After that, Carl’s seen injured with a low health and then he gets up. A lot of objects, actors (zombies) and cars appear. The next objective’s to get out of there. Once the player does that, carl's seen sitting again and crying. A cutscene shows a camp and two guys watching over Bayside, Evan and Mac. After a discussion, TJ comes who's seen later talking with Evan while Mackie's sleeping. The next day, the three survivors are seen behind a bar which its main entrance is full of zombies. The player have to take them out then going back to his team and getting inside the bar. The scene then switches inside the bar and Evan's seen aiming with his silent pistol along with TJ aiming with his sniper at some other two surviors holding pistols and doing the same. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interview with AnDReJ98: 1. How and when did you find out about DYOM? -I always wanted to make missions for San Andreas. In 2007-8, i tried searching for something like that (DYOM), but i couldn't find anything. Spring 2009, after downloading & playing some other modifications for San Andreas (such as Great Theft Car), i tried searching again. I typed ''How to create missions in SA'' and DYOM came out of nowhere. I was very happy. 2. Why did you choose DYOM instead of other mission creator modifications? - There still isn't any other modification for creating missions in-game such as DYOM (a tool). The only other choice was Sanny Builder which required SCM coding which i didn't know at the time, and still don't know very well (enough) to make my own missions, let alone big storylines. 3. Was it hard at the start, or easy? - Of course, the first time i opened it, i didn't even know how to set objective, speaking of that time. I remember, my school friendOgi and me were trying to find out as most as possible to be able to make a small mission without any bug or mistake during designing. In general, we learned quickly because you know, DYOM isn't hard. 4. Is there any difference between your first Mission pack and your latest one? - What can i say about this. After i updated my first mission series in 2011 with V5, i could never get back old files, still you can play my first mission-pack and the latest one, and you will see how much it's different. Though i think the style i used in my early days remained same. Maybe in little different form, and more improvised, but it's still the same. 5. Which project of yours was and is the most successful one? - This is an interesting question. When you say 'successful', i think of three things: Successful in terms of mission quality, popularity or your own satisfaction. I think, the most successful mission-pack is if you have all three things combined, what isn't impossible to find though, it ain't that easy to make too. I think my whole early work including my first storyline, was the only one that i was truly satisfied and proud of. And it was complete freedom, my script for story was only 'Jack's adventure and war against Italians', where i put player to go through 3 cities (San Fierro, Liberty City & Vice City). I designed missions that i wanted, it didn't matter will it be long or short like it matters now, it didn't matter, if it's gonna have more or less object like it matters now, or reviewers are gonna say your missions suck (not meant to Revolver), and that's why i still prefer old way to give designer feedback instead of review which won't appreciate your uniques & creativity that much, but it will say ''Not enough objects! Variety suck! 2/10''. You can see difference in feedbacks i gave you and reviewes which you got for the same project. All in all, after finishing Jack Prinston's life with three chapters, i was so proud of it that i wanted to continue story even more. And i made one more chapter with 24 missions which contained LS as playable city. Although it didn't turn to be so successful on the forums and not all missions had big variety, i was proud of it and DYOM website gave me positive feedbacks including a few people from my country too. When i remember that times, i really want to feel that way again, because after Jack's life, i don't think i ever felt that proud of any other my project. 6. What do you think about the new designers, including me ? - I'm trying to appreciate newcomers and help them as most as possible (due to my free time) to improve their behavior, missions and to be accepted in the community. I don't think if newcomer is acting immature or doesn't listen to the advice from the very start, should be driven away, or banned. Because, by that logic i would be already banned in the first 3 days since i joined, so many of today's known designers would be. Speaking of you, i already told you my thoughts about you once in PM, and my feedbacks about your mission-packs says the same. Mature guy, who knows what ''respect'' is and how to earn it, as good as his missions are too. 7. Back when DYOM was active, who was the best mission designer in your opinion? - I don't think there is the best designer. But there are the best designers. One will give you perfect plot, one will give you perfect gameplay, etc. But at the time i joined and before, i would say LnD (LeonCJ) and you should know why i'm saying this. Now, of course, opinion would change, depends. 8. What do you think about DYOM’s current situation? - Situation is much better than last year's fall and generally this year was successful compared to 2013. Maybe not as much as early 2012 and backwards, but it's good and at the spring, activity raises even more. 9. Do you think it’s only up to newcomers to revive the community? - Designers which came here before the 'newcomer' joined have a very big role. You should know what i'm talking about, as i said in question no.6, though it also depends of newcomers too. 10. In your opinion, who deserved to be the best DYOM designer? - I don't know/can't really answer this question. As i already mentioned, in my opinion there is not really best designer. But i have to say, you being one of these people. Others should try out your work and see what i'm talking about. 11. Who do is the most creative designer in your opinion? - There are many. I remember playing missions by UNRATED, Jakal, LnD and Jimmy at one point, and i think the most uniques and creativity i found were in Jakal's missions then. Try out this, you will learn from there. 12 What do you think about the Senior Designers who are left? Are they helping the newcomers as they used to do? - Some yes, some not really. As you can see, Rytuklis was giving honest opinions and advices on newcomer's topics, Boris little less than before, but majority of older designers who are still active in one way or another, don't do that (LnD, Jimmy, etc.). 13. You think that the new MDP will success? If no or yes, can you tell us why? - It depends of community's activity, designer which are in team, their mood & free time, and of course system of the project. We had only one MDP which haven't succeed (Dream Hunters), the rest was very successful except maybe third (which also was finished after some time), especially the latest one which really surprised me. I think you guys will manage to get it working, just make sure to organize everything well. 14. Any last words? - I don't have ''last'' words, but if someone wants to contact me or chat more often, talking about anything. I'm always open for it, add me on skype or follow on twitter (twit: AndrejGuitar). Also, you can subscribe to my YT channel, as you may already know, i'm uploading GFX & DYOM tutorials, you can find some stuff you might watch over there. New videos to come in January. It contains two stories: The Street Life (perquel) and The Chronicle of Bryan Robinson (original). All 2 stories are connected to each other and have their own style, different side missions/activities and shows San Fierro from 2 different point of views. Idea first came in 2011 to show city from Bryan's eyes (now named The Chroicle Of Bryan Robinson), when he comes back from Germany. It was basically 'Episode' since it showed us one point of view. Now i came up with idea to remake the story and write one more (prequel) story that will show us San Fierro from another point of view in different style. Although the third story (sequel) was planned to be added, there were not enough elements and would be pointless since the story is already completed, also from other character's views. Contents:1. Old designers are returning?2. Interview with LnDProductions.3. Reviews.4. Written by/CreditsOld designers are returning?A lot of old and probably the best mission designers has shown up some time ago and are continuing their DYOM career. LnD just finished his old storyline “Matthew Hegan’s path” which took almost 3 years. He said that he’ll start working on Cold Year 2 soon, he actually was waiting for Doublepulse to start his work like he said in his topic. I will work on Cold Year 2 soon, I kinda wanted for Steven (Doublepulse) to start his work, so I gave him time while I work on Act III of MHP.So I'm gonna start my work soon. He also said that he got more plans for his future mission packs, there’s a possibility that he’ll remake Ghost Ship using the new version’s feature, he already made a DEMO mission. Link. Moreover, LnD said that he’s been working on a Mission pack while finishing his old storyline and that he’s planning two more and hopefully he’ll get them done (well, I hope that too ).More than that, Jimmy-Leppard’s been active this year, but not like usual. He made two of this year’s best Mission packs, Swipping Kings: The race continues and Code of Silence. However he said that he started writing script for his next project which is probably his last one. Thus, he said that it’s gonna be long and interesting as usual. BUT, there’s a chance that he’ll continue making missions if Dutchy and Patrick release a new version. Here’s what he said the following: Hi, guys. Since I got a couple of messages during the last period of time regarding a new project of mine in the future, here's the answer.I haven't been active during the summer cause of my personal life. I'm simply busy. However, the fact that I released two mission packs during this year makes me feel relaxed cause at least I didn't pause this whole year, just the summer period. As for the future, I know this has been said by me already and by many other designers (even though they are still in designing), but this time I think it might be for real. Currently, I just only started writing the script for my next mission pack. And, by the looks of it, it's gonna be long. But, what I'm trying to say is that it might aswell be the last mission pack I'll make. Every year I have less and less free time (with that, less and less interest) to design anything.Anyway, I'll see what's gonna happen if and when Dutchy and Patrick release a new version of DYOM. Perhaps by then, I'll have time to continue designing, but it's highly unlikely. However, as I said, I just started writing the script for my future-last mission pack. If I'm lucky, I'll finish writing the script in the summer of 2015. My college will start soon and I won't be able to continue my script for a couple of months, so.. That's why it will take me such a long time before I even finish the script. Not to mention the transition to designing once the script is done. Nevertheless, if I'm lucky, I will be able to release the first mission of it by the end of summer of 2015. If not.. Well, you might aswell just call it a day right there.I would like this designing to go on forever, but the reality is different, so... If indeed the 2015 mission pack will be my last one, just wanted to let you know that it's the kind of mission pack I would like to finish out my career with. Only thing I do hope is that many of my friends here (SatournFan, AnDReJ, Zizo, DP, Odyssey, Notna etc.) will still hang around this place by the end of next year to see it cause without them, I'd stop already designing a long time ago. I can promise you that I won't finish the career until this last one is finished and I'll do as much as I can not to disappoint you or anyone who will play it.Cheers Last but not least, MadMarshMallow previous known as Arejai, surprised everybody with a new Mission series called Business, Blood and money which everybody called a masterpiece. Plus, it was included in DYOM TV by Rytuklis. The perfection of this MP consists in the difference between the missions, it’s just like, every mission has its own story, it’s not a mission like almost all the DYOM missions “go here, kill that”, this is even better than Max Parker. Besides, it contains one of the best and unique missions in DYOM history “Call the cops, I recommend everybody to give it a shot and I assure you that you won’t regret that.Interview with LnDProductions:DYOM magazine had an interview with LnDProductions. Below you can find the questions asked and the answers give by LnD.1. How and when did you find out about DYOM?- Back in 2009, I was a child that really loved GTA:SA. So I thought about making it cooler and I was looking for mods, lots and lots and lots of mods. I came upon the mod Design Your Own Mission. Installed and used it.2. Why did you choose DYOM instead of other mission creator modifications?-There are other mission creator modifications? Welp. Never heard of them. I guess that's why.3. Was it hard at the start, or easy?-It was hard to figure out how to use the mod and it was hard to start sharing your missions on the GTAForums.4. Is there any difference between your first Mission pack and your latest one?Yeah, a lot. My first mission pack was Strange Shop series (available for purchase for $39.99 on DYOM Website). It was about horror survival stuff and apparently I enjoyed making horror survival. My latest one I guess is The Paramedc (also available for purchase for $199.99). The differences are probably the creativity and the language. Over the years I have improved English a lot and with the new DYOM features I can use my creativity to make the missions interesting, like making background action, realistic cutscenes, etc.5. Which project of yours was and is the most successful one?Well it's definitely NOT Matthew Hegan's Path and NOT Episodes From Las Venturas - everyone would disagree with me, but since I'm the creator, I know what and how I messed with those. My successful one would probably be either Cold Year or No Rules in The Sands, but I guess I'll go No Rules in The Sands. I would choose EFLV, but I feel like it needs a remake or something - then it would be good.6. What do you think about the new designers, including me ?I don't know what to think about the new comers, buuuuuuuuut.... all I can say is "Goodluck, have fun."7. Back when DYOM was active, who was the best mission designer in your opinion?I heard this guy LeonCJ was cool, kinda. Nah, I keed. I don't really choose favorites here, because everyone is equel in their own way and I liked everyone's missions.8. Can you tell us how the Mission packs that you talked about will be? Interesting and great as your old ones?Well now I'm not sure if I will ever get to working on any mission packs because I was kinda insulted in the forums so I'm like in a "f*ck you" way and I'm less active now.But if I would have worked then I would have made a remake for Ghost Ship with jumpscares and scary atmosphere, I would have made a new mission pack about this mafia dude (got inspiration from Boardwalk: Empire, great series) and I also would have made more remakes for my old mission-packs.9. What do you think about the Senior Designers who are still here? Are they helping the newcomers as they used to do?Those who left, I wish them good luck. Those who are still here.... No. They're not really helping. It's like a newcomer comes in, sucks at DYOM and gets told off. It's like having Ebola and you get told to gtfo of their country, so it's like the same here. You suck at DYOM and you get thrown out. Those who do that should know that they sucked balls back then too. 10. Any last words? Yeah. Subscribe to me on YouTube and follow me on Twitter. AnDReJ98
Hey i have already thought of reviving this with someone (because i don't have time to do alone) and i'm really glad you took it. I hope next issue will be longer, good work anyway. DYOM magazine is cool idea, this feels great! I remember when in one interview Boris called me little bitch or something, hehe good old times! It was fun overall. EDIT: One more suggestion, you can add more questions in interviews and some of them connect with DYOM's current situation so you will have regular questions which are repeating and the ones which will always be different since it depends of current activity around. Thank you for your feedback A98. For sure, I'll add more questions, and if you want to join the team, certainly you can. And I read that issue, yeah real funny. Too bad I wasn't here by that time. A new DYOM magazine? Awesome, haven't read one of those in a while. Good work, man. Our community deserves something like that. If you're going to write the next one, then good luck Thanks Jimmy, glad that I got you interested in this. As I said before, the next issue's release date depends on DYOM activity. BTW, the current logo is better than the old one right? It took hours to make. Rytuklis
Hey, I applaud this, as I'm cancelling the DYOM TV. I have no time to work on it and I want to sacrifice the little time I have on my DYOM projects instead, so yeah . If anybody wants to take over, feel free. IDK if I'll take it over but if Dyom 123's laptop gets fixed soon, we might work on it together. And thanks for giving your opinion about this, dude. Revolver1
You know, I just thought of something. Since you always seem so... doubtful about your English, why don't you send me (or anyone else who wishes to help) the rough draft of the issue, then I'll see if there's any error and whatnot, then fix it and re-send it back to you. One more thing, issues should be listed in the first post, under Spoler tag, or otherwise everything would look like a bunch of mess.
