GTA Series Section - Led Bys

Hello staff & various members.

 

I am not sure if this has been mentioned some how before, or in any certain way - but I believe we need dedicated led-by's in the GTA Series section. With the recently added Concepts sub-forum, I do believe it is time to get the ball rolling. A few months ago (uncertain on the actual time period), the GTA Series section was moved from the way bottom to the top, so most members can see it.

 

This brought tons of new activity and members - which is a spectacular thing. However, since new activity has arrived, not everybody is following forum rules. From my recent observances, I have just witnessed today a topic about the next "red dead" game (which is completely irrelevant to the main idea of the GTAForums) and also in the Mapmaking topic there is a member who constantly makes negative posts towards other people's work. I do not think this should be tolerated.

 

I don't think moderators and administrators should have to deal with this alone. They are busy with enough issues here and there's no excuse as to why this is one of the sections that has to deal without dedicated led-bys.

Well that's the job of members to report issues that arise to staff... Are you saying that if there was a staff member present that members would no longer have to report in said thread?

I definitely agree with this. It makes no sense how the GTA 2 section, with it's very low activity, has 2 led-bys yet the GTA Series section, with quite a bit of activity, has none.

I haven't seen enough arguing or chaos in the gta series section to merit dedicated staff.

In fact, the gta series section is almost Utopia.

Miamivicecity is basically the led-by of the GTA Series Section. Come to think of it, he is probably the only moderator who actually plays GTA.

There are many more mods than MVC that play GTA, don't know how you managed to reach that conclusion...

Anyway, I don't visit that section a lot, but over time it seems to be nearing the level of that GTA V/GTA:O sections, which require a fair amount of moderation. Sure, when it was smaller it did fine all by itself, but now it's just getting larger, which always means more moderation needed, which could be filled by a led-by.

I am always of the personal view that every section should have at least one ledby, but we don't need to add one just for the sake of that reason. There are lots of moderators, and if you report something and you think nothing gets done it's either because 1) the member was dealt with and you just don't know about it or 2) the moderator disagrees that it needs dealing with. We never complete reports that need action.

 

We always are looking out for the next shining star though so we will keep an eye on the activity.

At the moment I feel that there is enough supervision of the 'GTA Series Section'. I don't know what the future will bring, but there may eventually be Led By's if the need shall arise.

Ducard, those sections actually have two Led By's in them (GTAKidd667, and Sektor).

Not really, don't take everything at face value. Sektor has been ledby there for hundreds of years, and GTAKid was already staff for another section when he volunteered.

 

Sometimes all it comes down to is there not being anybody who sits above the rest enough to become a staff member. As I said though, we are always on the lookout.

Pretty much ALL GTA sections have led-by's-the ONLY ones that don't are the GTA III section and the LCS and VCS sections, and that is cause they're not really needed in these sections anymore, as those sections don't see as much activity as the other games in the series. The VC section has one or two led-bys, SA has one with one mod that frequents that section a lot, IV has them and EFLC has them, so all the more populated sections DO have led-by's. Just a heads up

Everything has changed.

 

III, VC, LCS, VCS, GTA Advance and Chinatown Wars have a led-by.

SA has only one led-by now.

IV has no led-bys

Only real spam I can think of is that one guy who keeps flaming the map section which was brought up in the first post, and even then it doesn't really warrant a bunch of new folks. If anything, that energy should be focused to the gen chat areas and V and other parts where folks constantly clash.
