Rockstar can't get 16 player lobbies working without hitch, let alone 30 at this point. You're gonna have to wish for PC modders who can actually competently make things to do something of this scale.

....and I'm a console player, but don't expect any lobby size increases in gta5online....PC lobbies might be huge though...

why not? No peds/npcs/AI.. because the other players are the peds/npcs/AI

I'd play a GTA MMORPG.

 

One persistent world, even if it has zones. The world would have to be a bit bigger though. Imagine if they combined all the different GTA areas into a United States world; Los Santos, Liberty City, etc.

60? HA! :r*: Can't even get 30 players into a single lobby let alone 60, I have yet to be in a full 30 player lobby i think the most players in a single lobby i've been in was less than 16...

Im down. I think if they restructured the leveling system it could work.

 

Hear me out... You only gain positive RP from kills on players within your level bracket ( 1 -10, 11- 30, 31 - 50 etc. ) Any kills on players who you significantly out rank would result in a massive RP and $$ penalty.

 

Also, only players within your level bracket would have a visible Blip on your radar.

I get where you're coming from but do you honestly believe it's that modders are more competent... or do you think that they are cutting corners that rockstar can't/wont cut in order to get a playable game out. I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

I'd say it's more like modders have the time and effort to sit down and get things done that R* doesn't.

 

Rockstar has to juggle multiple things. A gigantic fanbase, a full blown company, marketing, money invested in products and advertisements .. that's why we will never truly get the game that most people on the forums wish that we had. A year after the fact and still no heists. It would've taken a small modding team only a few months to get something running.

 

And by the way this is coming from a guy who spends most of his gaming time playing on consoles, I haven't touched a game on my computer in ages.

Why not? Maybe not millions but a couple of hundred or thousand all in one lobby would be great.

im sure with some good servers this map could handle atleast a 100 players per lobby... evenknow people would still populate the same spots...

 

10 in jets

25 by eclipse towers

50 on the main lsc

5 on blain county

3 on paleto bay

7 by the airport

It's definitely true that modders can focus on exactly what it is that they want to work on and then get that out before what the board of investors want them to get out. The beauty of it is that some of the corners that modders cut are corners that rockstar should probably cut but don't because of quality control. Either way, if modders can make a better game, more power to them.

It's like GTA:O is almost a beta as it is, but Rockstar just doesn't wanna release Heists until they're 'fully ready'.

 

But they're perfectly fine with letting the masses deal with Online in the broken mess it is right now. They released the content creator in a beta too, I don't know why they just didn't do something like that with heists a long time ago. Not trying to change the subject TO heists, just using that as an example of why we are at the current junction in GTA:O's lifecycle that we are right now.

 

I haven't even been in a game that has had a full 30 players yet. And we have no animals online, so many things I'd take over a boosted player limit.

I think 700 is a good round number. Could you imagine the chaos?!?! Jee willikers, or wait I've got a crazy revolutionary idea. 1200 people per session!

The problem I see with the PC release that the PC guys don't realise. Is that you are still going to rely on rock stars server code. And currently a ps4 can only run the game at some 15 frames as second with 10 people in the lobby. Its the broken code causing all the jitters because the ps4 can run any other game at 60 frames with 60 players.

 

Anyway unless they learn to code network control a lot better between now and pc release the PC version is going to be a big disappointment. Plus you will have a lot more load with all the modders blowing you up with teleporting bombs the second you step out of your garage.

MAG on PS3 has 256 online with vehicles and blackjack and hookers

BF4 on PC has 64 online with destructible environments, and vehicles

San Andreas on PC has 200 online with vehicles and a huge map

GTA 4 on PC has 128 online with vehicles

Just Cause 2 on PC has 1000 online with vehicles and a huge(er) map

Minecraft on PC has 1000 online with every block explore able and animals and vehicles and natural disasters, etc.

this is the thing that gets me.. BF4 on Ps4 has 64 online with destructible environments, changing weather, air, land, and sea vehicles and i hardly ever experience lag or timeouts. Hardly ever.

 

Pop in the GTA V disc and try to get online: its either empty lobbies, 20 people and laggy as hell, "Unknown Network Error" or "timed out loading session, return to GTA V", etc... I know its only been out for a few weeks, but it was just as bad on Ps3 and hasn't gotten much better. I understand the map is much bigger than any battlefield map, but seriously hardly anybody ever leaves the city anyways.

I genuinely thought my connection just sucked ass. But then i started to realize that it was funny how my connection only sucks ass when I'm playing GTA V. still playing BF4, COD4MW, COD BO, and even GTA IV to this day, and none of those games have these "unknown" connection problems i have on GTA V
