A question about owning cars...

Hi guys,

I'm a return player and have a few questions about owning cars because I remember in the PS3 version I would always have issues storing cars, saving them, etc.

First, how do you officially "own" a car so that it is saved and you don't have to worry about losing it? Do you have to purchase it or can it be stolen?

Second, are purchased cars permanently saved or do you have to make sure to park them in a lot when finished?

Third, if a purchased car is lost or destroyed, what happens?

Fourth, is there any way of recalling an owned car via a cellphone delivery or something?

The systems for Single Player and GTA: Online are different:

 

Single player: there is no mechanic for specifically 'owning' a car, however any car that is saved in a garage (i.e. next to character's homes or their unique garages) will remain there until you take it out. It doesn't matter where you got it from, all that matters is saving it in the garage - so purchasing a car only makes it spawn in your garage, it doesn't get properly permanently saved.

There is an impound garage that is on the map. The last two cars that were either bought online or modified that you lost appear there, although sometimes a car that was saved at a safehouse, if just parked, will appear back at the safehouse.

 

Online: you own cars by going to LS customs, and buying 'insurance' for the car. Again, the car can come from any source. When these are destroyed or otherwise lost, you can call 'mors mutual insurance', and for a small fee the car will spawn at a specific building shown on the map that you can then collect. If it's not been lost, then you can call your mechanic to deliver them to you.

The amount of personal vehicles you can get (ones with insurance) depend on how many garage slots you have. If you don't own a safehouse/garage, then you can only have one. The max is 10.

You can have two properties both with up to a 10 car garage each?

 

I don't know myself since I only own one apartment, doesn't each property have its own slots via the mechanic? or is it Shared?

Ah, you might be right on that one. I believe it's directly related to your garage space, so having a total of 20 car storage lets you insure 20 cars.

Also, when you call the mechanic it first lets you choose the property, so they do have their own slots.
