Can't burnout tires?

For some reason I can't burnout tires in this game on PS4. I've asked all my friends and looked it up online but nobody else seems to have this issue from what I can tell. I really don't understand how this is, never had an issue on 360 and I'm familiar with all the controls...

 

Small thing I know, but I'm also wondering if that was because I was 10 seconds behind my friend in a supercar race and he was overtaking me on a straight when we used the same stock (not custom) cars... maybe I just suck as I'm not much of a racer to begin with, but I'm also wondering if maybe there's an issue with the accelerator on this game under certain circumstances, that would also explain why I can't burnout?

Because I'm wondering if it's an issue with the accelerator.

that he overtook you on a straight road is probally because of the slipstream and catchup.

 

can't you spin tires on any of the cars online? or just one?

you can burn out tires, i do it all the time.

That's what I do, it doesn't work and I'm on that control scheme.

 

Oh yeah, my gun jams too sometimes. Must me an issue with R2 overall.

he means spinning the tires in general. and OP, i've had problems with my controler before, some dust that got into the controller, cleaned it up a bit. sometimes smashing it helps or do you have a second controller?
