I hate how I speed past in a car and get shot out instantly but another player slowly cruises by and survives an entire clip. Gonna put it down to lag tho.

 

But on the ground, use your surroundings. Wall covers, stair wells, alleys. Can make a big difference in getting kills or being killed.

How do they clean-kill you while you're driving at 60MPH? It's auto-aim. A person standing foot on the ground with a weapon and automatically lock-on to your face within a good 50+ meter radius regardless how fast you're driving.

 

Go to Free Aim, it's harder to both kill and get killed, you might it more to your liking!

I've been playing on and off since last Xmas. I'm not saying I'm an elite or anything, or pro or whatever the F these self proclaimed Gods want to call themselves.. I die too.. sometimes retarded, WTF just happened deaths.. it happens. Who cares, it's a game! We should learn & laugh from our deaths for all you rage-a-saurus-rexs out there

 

But I will say that I kill a sh*t ton more than I ever die.. sometimes going multiple sessions without dying at all. I play 95% of the time, completely solo also. I do not use tanks. I don't even own a Zentorno, never will.. not my style. I run street bikes/ground game. Buzzard when I feel like it, and I will occasionally jump in a jet if the situation calls for it. I play Free Aim as it feels more real when I pull awesome kills off. I do NOT use glitches/godmode at all for all those that ran into me in-game claiming I must cheat in some way .. I L L at those type of hate mail the most.

 

A few tips I'll put out there that I learned gradually since I started playing.

 

- Radar.. USE IT I shouldn't have to emphasis this, but your radar is your BEST friend. Whenever coming out of garage/apt.. see who is outside by maximizing your radar. Also do this before going into a store and after shopping, coming out of the store. Use it at all times, especially for timed C4 traps.

 

- Levels For you lower levels.. you don't need to get owned by higher levels every time you go into Free Roam! First things first, assess the skill of your opponent by his arsenal. You know that if your opponent is level 100+ he has access to the heavy sniper/rpg/minigun (120 for the minigun) Figure out your tactic based on their level.. you obviously wouldn't run at a level 120+ being that he'll just rip a new hole into you with his minigun. That being said.. get good with the new sniper that came out.. that will be your primary weapon until you rank up to get your AP / Nade Launcher / C4 and better explosives/ARs.. Practice your sniping now while you're lower level.. stay out of hotzones, but inside the outskirts of a hotzone if you're sniping from far or spot to spot if close range sniping. Levels don't really matter if you're using the correct tactic to combat the opponent no matter what they use.

 

- Move Don't stay in one spot, stay moving! Unless you're sniping, in a stationary area.. you should always keep moving. ESPECIALLY if you see someone go off radar on you. If you can keep moving and get them chasing you, that off radar don't mean sh*t now does it? Therefore you have the upper advantage on them no matter the situation and their element of surprise backfired.

 

- Traps Like C4? Learn to time them with the radar. A simple trick I use is utilizing a landmark on the map.. say where the intersection starts, place a C4 right there.. then just wait for your target to reach that spot.. detonate split second before he reaches his destination of death! A lot of my chasers die like this. I love when they call me a pussy because I'm "running" - Little do they know, I'm leading them right where I want them..

 

- Strategy.. got an enemy in an alleyway and you're boxed in? Throw a C4 on one corner, then move towards the other end, if he follows... well.. BOOM. If he goes around, throw a cooked nade at this location, push him where you want him to go. This type and all similar/more complex type of strategy is what really gets people. Fake people out.. lure then somewhere.. push him to get into a buzzard.. but you've got C4 at his buzzard pickup spot.. or put a C4 on his car waiting for him to get back in it and chase you.. Psychology is half the battle. Execution is the other half.

 

- Gun gaming at equal level will highly rely on your weapon choice and reflexes/aim. As said above, if you're hitting chest shots as your opponent is constantly locking headshots.. well... yeah... practice in survivals or 5 star holdups to get your gun game up.

 

- Armor A major one that a lot of people still don't do that I've seen since the last patch giving us an additional armor piece.. is the bullet proof helmet. Everyone always talks about headshots.. why not invest in the helmet and vests to help out. It could mean a world of a difference in a hectic gunfight.

 

- Snacks This is a real no brainer lol.. snacks replenish your health.. use them! Always stay stocked. You can use snacks while driving/in cover!! Also while.. wait.. I'll save that one for a tutorial maybe lol..

 

 

 

There's plenty more I could have mentioned but I'd rather create a legit guide on PvP Survival beginners/advanced if someone hasn't made one yet. If I get a good amount of likes on this post ya'll might persuade me into making one.

 

But that's just a few tips on how I stay alive. I've obviously left out some major ones.. one does not reveal all his secrets/tricks of battle.

Yeah the higher the level you are the more health and armour you unlock. Thou that stops about level 50 or something. I've played R* games for years and Red Deads the game that got me good at the aiming systems of their games. Also when your a low level you've gotta build up your shooting accuracy on your characters stats. I recommend you do some Forced+Pickup Deathmatches so everyones using the same guns against you and also you'll get 10 kills a lot quicker in a DM than you will in freemode(against minigunners)

Basically this^ Great post. Pretty much what I do to a tee except for bulletproof helmets since they look terrible haha. I'll sacrifice for fashion's sake. No biggie. Still wear body armor though. Great points. I think this is a pretty good outline of what to do.

Some more strategies

*Hold off on sprinting too much- longer reaction time to aim from sprinting than walking + someone aiming at you = dead

Take it slow. also you are easier to spot and show up on radar

 

*Roll- even on free aim, it makes enemies harder to hit you

 

*Dont be afraid to hip fire (just press the shoot button)- laying down suppressive fire can easily allow you to move from area to area

 

*(teams) Communication- its key to spot enemies, develop strategies, and pwn on the battlefield. A team with no communication is like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off; they just run around randomly

 

*Suppressed weapons- you dont have to slap every gun with suppressors, maybe one from each class will do. It makes you not appear on radar when shooting

 

*reloading- dont get caught doing that, especially in close quarters. For guns with long reloads (MGs in particular), shoot almost all of the rounds in the mag, swap guns, and swap back. This has saved my ass countless times

 

*burst fire- do this for long range targets. more accurate, less ammo waste. Note that the sounds are not in sync with most of the guns rate of fire (i hoped that they would address this issue but apparently not). So you may think you're shooting 3 shots but you are actually shooting 2

This goes to Coltrane II. I couldn't figure out how to quote on my phone lol. I wouldn't wear the bullet proof helmet either if I didn't have my skull mask on with it. I think it looks horrible without the mask too. Although I think I heard they fixed this for the new gen.. disappointed about that.. they need to stop taking away our appearance glitches that make our character look unique with the right combo. Other glitches they can take lol.

Sticky bombs placed on headlights are almost impossible to see, Sticky bombs placed on the inside of a door are impossible to see.

 

As for helpful advice for the rest of this.

RADAR,

think of it as your mirrors when driving a car. Always, Constantly, Frequently Check it. Practice high speed driving, and slides, whilst checking the radar to get used to flicking your eyes down like that.

 

Grenade Launchers make great artillery strikes! Takes fair practice to get used to this one.

 

Always AP Pistol when in a car. If they have jacked a "off the street car", they will not have bulletproof tires. So let your first couple of bullets go towards the wheels, and then while they are having a hard time controlling their car, Headshots...

 

In fact head shots are always a good thing! Unless of course people have those hideous Helmets on, then neck shots are where it is at!

 

Speaking of headshots, when you are sniping, thats what you want to be aiming for! Unless someone is stupid enough to be hiding behind a fence, I have found a few fences leave the feet showing, and a couple of shots at the feet will have you killed!

 

Speaking of cover, if you are in cover, be very aware of what you are hiding behind. Because cars and fences are not good cover, from an rpg. Infact cars can be terrible cover, if a heavy sniper round goes into the fuel tank...

 

Nevertheless I still use my car for cover. When speeding towards someone, if you stop, (with a nice slide so that the car is between you and them) and then train your sniper on them, you will most likely get the kill as they are expecting you to come up and Reverse Zen them.

 

What do you do when someone Reverse Zens you? Well you have been watching the Radar like a Mother Procreating Hawk and as such are well prepared for their arrival and already have the sticky bombs laying in wait on the ground, not to mention the rpg or grenade launcher already selected, (minigun is not ideal, as you may wreck their vehicle, but you will not have survived to tell the tale).

 

And any way reverse kills are not the way. Race forward at some one, shooting at them, and if you haven't killed them, hopefully you have hurt them and are able to kill them with the impact of your car. (also feels like jousting!!!!).

 

And how the hell did that guy kill you from that rooftop 3 miles away? It is while the player render distance is pretty sh*tty, the vehicle distance is actually pretty darn good, and as such great snipers aim where the drivers head would be.

 

Speaking of non rendered kills... while you may not be rendered, your muzzle flash shows up nicely! So if you are intending on taking a pot shot at someone off the radar, make sure you move a bit as soon as you shoot.

 

But I wasn't shooting, how did he get me? How many times do I have to say RADAR!!! He, (or maybe even a she) looked at the radar and the available cover and took a damn good guess where you were.

 

How do these people even snipe so bloody quickly anyways! Well don't be an idiot that zooms in and then tries to line up. RADAR. Use the arrow on the radar to line up roughly, then zoom in and line up at the same time. Also practice bloody well helps!

 

I have earned my levels on the streets, as I don't have the willpower to grind missions, and when it comes to freeroam, suppressors just take damage away from you, useful in DM's but not in freemode.

 

I just respawned and next to instantly I was ran over or sniped... How? Like others touched on. Map Awareness! Getting your play time up will give you a feel for how the respawn locations work, and map awareness will also give you a damn good idea on where the person is about to respawn.

 

What is the one other thing that I think has helped me get the upper hand so much? As I didn't want to share the T.V. with the missus, and lose out on time in Los Santos to some terrible show she wants to watch, I hooked my ps3 up to my computer monitor, and the difference is quite noticeable...
