vengeancehawk
I'm curious to see the responses. Me, personally, would have to say Bully. Everything from the music to the feeling of being a teen, it's just a wonderful game. On the PS2, I gotta say I probably beat it 5 or 6 times and working on my second on the 360. So yeah, what is your favorite game and why? OneManCrimeWave
ten-a-penny
I'm yet to play a game that is better than this. Not even Doom II: Hell on Earth on PC is as great as this. Ai®a©ob®a
LIMH
Going with MAFIA The City Of Lost Heaven. Perfect from start to finish, as everything in the game serves a purpose. Even though it's a linear story and you're just along for the ride, the story is just THAT good alone. Honorable mentions; GTA:VC, Half Life, Deus Ex, Gran Turismo, System Shock 2, GTA:SA, Max Payne, Star Wars KoTOR, Grim Fandango, Bioshock.. And many more. Dutch Psycho
Very difficult to choose but i think i'm going for Fallout 3. I enjoyd every second of it. It already started perfect in that vault and then when you set your first footsteps in the wasteland to start your journey. The story, graphics, gameplay, atmosfhere, simply amazing. 98 in 1
Grand Theft Auto IV. I have yet to play anything else that has been able to mask the reality that i'm playing a video game. Every time I play it whether it's on my PS3, a friends Xbox, or on my supremely sh*tty laptop that can barley reach a stable 30 frames, it never feels like i'm playing a game. It looks and feels real enough without being bogged down by the actualities of reality. I've sank and will continue to sink hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours playing it, more than i'd care to admit to be honest. From the driving, to the shooting, to the city, to the story, the cast of characters, the top notch voice acting, the side missions, the entertaining physics, the sound design, practically everything about it just feels right to me. Simply put, if I was only allowed pick one game to play for the rest of my life, it would be GTA IV, no questions asked. Verdant
Quite hard to choose but I'll go with Red Dead Redemption. I loved the story, characters, the open world atmosphere. Most of my hours of game-play would just consist of exploring the map and getting involved in a number of random encounters with NPCs. The side activities were a lot of fun such as Train Robberies, Liars Dice and Dueling. The soundtrack is great too, I remember this song playing in the background as I rode into Mexico for the first time. I still have yet to play Red Dead Revolver. RogerWho
Bully is indeed probably the best game I've ever played. That game should be required playing in schools so people have the chance to experience what an amazing game actually looks like. The fact that Bully got barely any recognition is... Eh. What can I say. Also gotta agree with the others mentioned here: Mafia, GTA IV, Doom (Doom II in my case). Amazing stuff. Chronicles of Riddick deserves a place on the top lists too IMO though it's often forgotten. No doubt Deus Ex will pop up too. But when I should pick one game that springs to mind, I guess it's Quake III Arena. No other game could make me play one map with one other person for 2 days straight. Yes I'm insane but that thing is just absolutely perfect. And I really gotta ask why games wish such heart in them almost aren't made anymore. It's not that newer games are bad but Bully, Mafia, oder id Soft stuff, yea... Not around anymore. It seems R* has been keeping it up for longest when it comes to mainstream AAA stuff. Case in point I'm playing Puppeteer now on PS3. Not exactly a typical modern game and has the heart of those good old games. Not my favorite of all times just yet but so far it seems to be my favorite for the last couple of years.
Mister Pink
San Andreas for me. I didn't think I'd say that but looking back at the hours I've spent with it over the last 10 years and how now, it still gives me enjoyment on a level in which I never though such an old came could. It's ahead by a mile too. I don't know if I'll ever obsess about a game again on the level SA did for me. Vice City was a precursor that built the foundations for me to enjoy SA the easiest I could. Another game, I've been playing over and over has been FIFA. I wouldn't call myself a FIFA head (well, I love PES originally) and I'm not that good but I do find myself buying it every couple of years. eggburt
My absolute most favourite has to be Total Annihilation. The graphics were ahead of their time, it was hugely mod-able (add new units, races, maps, etc) and oh my lord the soundtrack? I've not heard anything better to this day! Kiffster
I'll have to say Skyrim. Even to this day whenever I play I still find/see/do things I've never seen/done before, and I still go to places I've never been to before. Can't wait for TES:VI (hopefully Elsweyr) The entire Half-Life series and GTA IV are not far behind, and in some ways they're even better, but overall Skyrim takes the cake. CometGT
My favourite game of all time, has to be 007 Nightfire. An amazing story, characters, the plot, the bond girls, suspense moments, and beats, in my opinion, most FPS games released these days, not all, but definitely some I think. Still has got great graphics (not a critiscm) even after 12 years since release. OneManCrimeWave
Dottie
For Shooter's, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (2001 PC with or without Hero's Unleashed mod) More of a strategic shooter than a run-n-gun, Rambo shooter like most are today. the AI are actually helpful instead of liabilities who say cheesy one-liners and do nothing but get in the way
Ai®a©ob®a
I'm yet to play a game that is better than this. Not even Doom II: Hell on Earth on PC is as great as this. Doom was the very first computer game i ever played i spent so many hours playing that game my mom said i was gonna fry the computers motherboard.. I would play that game from the time i got up til i went to bed i replayed it so many times that i'd make mini-games out of it i'd time myself on each mission than i'd try and beat that time in my next playthough. I don't think it would be possible for me to choose just one game, There isn't one game that i keep going back too over and over again unless you count Microsoft Flight Simulator and if you would base going back to a game over and over again as all time favorite than i'd say MFS since that is the only game i have spent the most time on and keep going back too. As for a console game i don't think i have an "all-time favorite game" once i finish a game i set it aside and i might revisit it later on. ten-a-penny

Ducard
As for as non-GTA and Rockstar Games go? Definitely Far Cry 3. Absolutely gorgeous graphics. Great, lively world. You never know when an animal is going to attack you in the wild. The ambience sounds were all amazing. I loved the light RPG elements like hunting and crafting, which were simple but fun. The missions were very fun and varied and keep you entertained till you complete them. The story isn't amazing but it's good and has Vass Montengro who is probably one of the best video game villains of all time. There were a lot of other things as well, everything about it was just top notch. The PC version was fantastic too. If not, I'd probably go with GTA IV or Vice City. GTA IV, well Ermac. already put it perfectly. It's a game that I can just keep playing without getting bored of. And the story, city and characters were phenomenal. (Best story and city in a video game IMO) Vice City, for it's awesome atmosphere and amazing soundtrack and for lighting up my childhood. You could probably throw San Andreas in there as well, as that was an incredible game too. Heck, I'll just say the whole GTA series. TheLowe4
I can't decide on 1. One would be San Andreas.I've never spent more time free-roaming in a game. It's very easy to find something to do. Another game would be Skyrim.Like San Andreas,I can do things in this game for hours on end.The game was very engaging as well. The third game would be Star Wars Battlefront 2.This game on my PS2 was very fun,and even on PC nowadays I can find myself playing it.

TheMcSame
RC Revenge The game is a spin off of a well known, though not as good (imo), RC racing game... Do I even need to tell you what that game is? Re-Volt Honestly it's a shame that there isn't anything like this around. This is definitely one of the best racing games you'll find imo. Osho
There's not one game. AT ALL! I'll simply choose one of them and say; Ghost Recon ( 2001 ) It started out as an interest into the concept to play on release, and later, through a lot of mods from the terrific fan community ( @ghostrecon.net ) back in the day, that I'm still playing this tactical shooter all along the way for so many years. Its hard to put in one post about why I fell in love with Ghost Recon, and also a lot frustrated, and angered to see that the later additions to the series didn't live up to the same level of enjoyment, atmosphere and environment offering an experience that makes the original so attractive, that it grew on me from the very second into the game. Its got a very addictive replay ability, by emphasizing on the elements of an action game and real life simulator, with a great tactical squad-based gameplay, paired with simplistic design, controls, immersion, and almost perfect A.I. Additionally, playing with the massive amount and variety of mods from the incredibly talented modders that improved the vanilla game over the years and turned it into one masterpiece that adds tons of innovative new features and enhancements. All I can say is, play it! I simply cannot stress this enough. I'm really not that good enough when it comes to explaining the several amazing details, still left about the game, to truly justify the greatness. One needs to experience this authentic tactical shooter, that still holds the crown of the most enjoyable game of the entire series for many fans to this day. vengeancehawk
Fireman
Baldur's Gate 2, sure there are plenty of other great games, but with my main genre of gaming being RPG's and Baldur's Gate 2 being by far the best RPG ever made, I justg can't choose anything else. Great story, fantastic gameplay, thought-provoking combat system, NPC-interactions and solid roleplaying choices that actually matter. Not split up into the "I'm the evilest bastard in the world" and the "I will save humanity" - choices likeother RPG (Mass Effect felt a lot like having just those two choices as well), but you could still choose to be either of those, or something completely different. Now if only Baldur's Gate 2 had more of the RPG-system that Icewind Dale 2 had with extra traits and skills, than it would've been 11/10, maybe some modders will complete their Baldur's Gate 2 in IWD 2 Engine mod someday.
