El Zodape
RDR had the best collectibles, imo. Treasure hunting is a good example: You gotta find a treasure using a piece of paper with a bunch of drawings in it. Once you find it, you get another paper and you look for another treasure. I like this system better because it actually gives you clues about what you are looking for. Even though the reward is just money, it felt more rewarding than collectibles in any GTA. Meanwhile, collectibles in GTA: yeah, there are like 100 hidden things in this huge map. No, we are not giving you any clues, f*ck you. Just waste hundreds of hours exploring every single inch of the map until you loose your sh*t and use Internet for finding them, defeating the whole purpose of just finding them yourself. In RDR never I looked up the locations for treasures, except once where the drawing was a bit misleading (it said the treasure was right under a tree, but it actually was some ft away hidden behind a rock, pure bs). But yeah, it was just one out of, idk, 35? (Including Undead Nightmare). tranceking26
Come on people! 50 ain't so bad, compared to 200, yeah two hundred f*cking pigeons, each one risking a wanted level because you could only burn or shoot them (I think!?) It took me days to get them all, I had to write down the numbers for each area of the map. At least it got me my first 100% in a GTA. So yeah, 50, 27, or 30 ain't so bad. It's a few hours work if you plan ahead.
HoleInTheSky
Don't usually compare, but GTA V's collectibles are a huge improvement over IV's same flying rat-oh-sh*t-cops x200 trollfest. Just seeing a list of all V's varying collectibles you wanna go hunting. Edited November 26, 2014 by HoleInTheSky
wearecity
I love the idea of collectibles, but find them extremely difficult to find, as you generally don't stumble upon them, during main or side missions. I've searched countless areas, such as side alleys, roofs and barns etc without much luck. I'd like to see an option to filter the map to show the rough location of each collectible, maybe a small coloured circle, so you still have to do a bit of searching of the area. Obviously showing them all at once, would clutter the map, but maybe show one of each item, then when you find that item, it shows you the next one. nath22
They've always been unneccesary to me, if you make an interesting game world I'm going to explore every inch of it anyway, collectibles for the sake of 100% completion is just filler. RDR had the right idea to getting 100% and the murder mystery/photography activities in NG at least offer something new, but dotting 200 things around the map just because it's the norm is lazy. If you're going to do that make it worth the effort.

That's a good idea, and it reminds me of Red Dead, where for some quests you would get a purple circle area appear on the map, that you need to search in. Lock n' Stock
How come nobody complained about the collectibles in pretty much every single GTA except V? How is this any different than collecting oysters and horseshoes and why did women in PS2 SA find an oyster collection such a turn on? Because hating GTA V is apparently the cool thing to do around here. Lets get that picture of the crying baby put back on the site.
Kurt370
Seriously this takes forever and sucks all the fun out of the game... Hue³ You're not forced to do anything!

pilscy
Agreed it does suck the fun out of the game for sure, found using a helicopter for the space ship parts and letter scraps is easily the fastest but still took at least 5 hours for them all. 50 stunt jumps 50 under the bridges 50 monkey mosaics 50 letter scraps 50 space ship parts 30 sub parts 30 nuclear waste 27 peyote 20 wildlife photography 15 knife flights Far too many collectables I still don't get how any of those collectibles pertain to "Grand Theft Auto" - a crime game.
