Does anybody else have a strong connection...

...with the cars in GTA? Back in the III era I did what everyone else did. I drove around crashing and doing crazy sh*t and always anticipated when my car would blow up. However, SA changed that for me. SA gave me the ability to personalize my cars, to a certain extent, and the awesome map allowed me to take them for spirited drives from city to city. IV allowed me to build a bond with each and every car because they all handled differently and the detail on each and every one of them was superb at the time. V let's me personalize my cars even more and to me that at least somewhat makes up for the handling, which some love but I personally find it bland and detracting from each car's personality.

 

What I'm trying to say is, does anybody else build special bonds with their cars in GTA? I've been told I was crazy for making sure I kept my cars in great condition and I've always found it silly to crash 24/7 and switch cars every 5 minutes.

Same here. I remember in TBoGT online I had found a Dukes and had been using it for all of that session until some dink blew it up with a sticky bomb(after numerous failed attempts to catch me in his Turismo he finally caught up). I didn't care that he had killed me, but I got pretty upset that he destroyed my car. I proceeded to kill him once and he rage quit and sent me a hate message XD Then I went off to find another Dukes to replace the one that was destroyed, I got disconnected before I found another IIRC.

I have a strong connection to Roman's Taxi. I'll never forget the first time Roman stumbled out of it saying "Niko my cousin is here". The fact it was the first car I got to experience GTA IV's amazing driving physics with also adds to the connection.

Same here, i have stored the roman's taxi in my bohan safehouse, i leave there and drive it time to time wearing niko's more "hove beach" clothes.

A vehicle i really connect is the special stallion you get on "ecsuela of the streets" mission, since the stallion is the gta staple car and i think it really fits niko.

I love the beaters in IV. Those things are so awesome. They actually feel like cars you would buy as a student and still drive them 30 years later when they're just complete wrecks.
