Mr Tomato
Cars have always had low top speeds in GTA games. This seems to be because of hardware limitations and for gameplay reasons. Ever noticed that sometimes when going really fast sometimes you can end up surrounded by low detail textures and no traffic because the game cannot load them in fast enough. The problem would be even worse if you could go even faster. It also seems to be for gameplay reasons, it makes the map seem larger as it takes longer to cross and makes weaving in and out of traffic easier. The AI traffic also travels at fairly low speed to make it seem like you are travelling faster. It was the same in IV although it wasn't as obvious due to the more confined spaces of Liberty City. One possible solution would be to 'scale' the speedometers, so that when you are travelling at 120mph the speedo shows 180mph. I suspect most people wouldn't notice. For everyone complaining that racing focused games such as Forza have more detailed interiors, those games have a far less detailed world with much less in it and far fewer vehicles present. They also only have to worry about the players car interior, in GTA every vehicles must have an interior as they can all be driven. Wow... Scale the speedometer? Are you serious. What the f*ck. The ai on the highway travels at like 60 or more some times people are slow, it's that varied it's like a real highway sometimes, ai does not drive slower so you feel faster, what kind of a piss weak excuse is "so the map seems bigger" the map is what it is, there's a pretty good sense of spacial awareness in V.... I've always noticed that once I reached a certain speed the gears went up, the revs went up but the speed SO DAMN OBVIOUSLY didn't. So scaling the speedo, that would mean you'd have to make 20-40 40-60 60-80 80-100 100-120 120-140 etc. Your type of oblivious thinking is what's ruining this game. Gnocchi Flip Flops
Yeah FPV for cars was just pointless. I too will just play Forza for that because they've f*cked up a lot on the cockpits. It's all for looks, the car details in general are fairly poor. I don't drive in first person due to that reason. I stick to Forza for first person driving. In what way they are poorly done? Even if gauges are almost the same for evey car and that they doesn't look like sportcar gauges you should be glad R* implemented them. Some race games doesn't even have gauges, lol. The turbo is also bugged: it does the reverse effect and slows you down. It's a nice feature to have but it's very clear that it was rushed. They should've taken some time out to really figure out which interior properly fit each car instead of just slapping any interior on any car like they did. PeaceOnesxWai
For Michael, Trevor, and online players, you cannot reach past 100MPH.. Only for franklin you can reach the max speed of the speedometer if you use his special ability. Its pretty fun and you can get the sense of speed as you get out of his special ability and drive at 200mph. Too bad there are no long strech of road where you can keep constant at that. The airport is a good place to drive fast, the freeway isn't too bad either. Edited November 26, 2014 by CarlitoDorito

woggleman
I would say that 95% of people who play this game don't obsess over stuff like this the way this forum does. That is why it is there mostly for decoration. I would say a good 90% don't even notice it. The-Murphy-Chap

saintsrow
Yeah true, Was like it was thrown together in a rush, They said they took full advantage but to me they haven't. It was only added so they could promote a new feature to entice more people into buying it on the new gen. After the initial announcement of 1st person, I told people it seemed like a gimmick but they argued otherwise. The 1st person trailer solidified that point for me and yet somehow people said it also solidified their view of it not being a gimmick. I guess people will believe what they want. Agree, it's something that seems radically new, that should sell a few more million copies "I guess people will believe what they want. " The makers of all trailers, including Rockstar, count on this for sales. I get suckered every time. I don't think there's a real way for Rockstar to accurately measure the vehicle speed and be consistent with the stats menu and the map's scale at the same time. When I was watching the live pre-release video streams, I was very interested in watching the speedometer versus the perceived physical speed. It seemed like the speedometer actually read too high. If so, then the 100 mph limit is probably more like 80 mph. I assume that someone has calibrated the speedometer versus a known distance and time in the game, by now. SCOOBASTEEB
its an old gen game with extra content what did you expect? i think the interiors look alright, its not like tdu or forza where you can sit and look around your vehicle enjoying how nice it looks, mainly because there's people to run over. i thought the lack of shifting animations would annoy me but it doesnt, looks better than watchdogs with the constant one hand right in the middle of the wheel.
