Blackbird88 1,533 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Blackbird88: Here the Under Surveillance PS2 audio by Tomasak transcoded to 128kbps. The other one is in PS2 audio quality (1024kbps) and the PC version can't read it, will crash for ever. Download The PC file is 354kbps. Maybe 320kbps would be more ideal? I tried to export it as IMA ADPCM and it has 354kbps bitrate without me setting it up. Looks like that's what R* did Replaced lib_a1.wav to test it and it works and sounds bit better. So here is PS2 version of the file with PC version's quality. http://www.mediafire.com/listen/joc1z6cehhrcd40/a3_ss.wav Edited February 24, 2015 by Blackbird88
Sam Lake 11,854 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) I know this is VC thread, but does anyone here have a3_ss from PS2 version of GTAIII? It's the cutscene where Asuka says that FBI and police are watching you instead of saying it's Mafia. Here: http://ulozto.net/x2C4iYvo/a3-ss-vb Edit: Decoded: http://ulozto.net/xcoiCVfV/a3-ss-wav And btw there are some rendering issues with buildings that has glass case (text on the glass is visible only on one side) Thank you! From looking over the wiki there are missing subtitles in one of Salvatore's missions cutscenes, but they are present in PS2 version. Which mission if I may ask? Bomb Da Base Act I http://www.grandtheftwiki.com/Bomb_Da_Base_Act_I I know for a fact that there was one GTAIII mission missing them, but I had no idea it's bug. Sadly it's most likely main.scm issue as the GXT entries are still present. PS2 has different audio for this cs, so this is why it doesn't have subtitles Here is the converted file (But it's in PS2 quality ) Edit: New one: http://ulozto.net/xT4DLCjJ/s3-rtc-mp3 Edited February 24, 2015 by Tomasak
Blackbird88 1,533 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) What you mean is that PC has additional line not present on PS2 Your post make it sound they are completely different. Oh yeah I just took a look at the GXT and these two entries are ignored FM3_A We should take these Colombian bastards out, FM3_B but while we're at war with the Triads we ain't strong enough. Edited the gtamodding wiki to reflect this. Edited February 24, 2015 by Blackbird88

Blackbird88 1,533 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) BTW it seems not even adding it in main.scm is really that easy as I thought it'd be. What you mean is that PC has additional line not present on PS2 Your post make it sound they are completely different. I meant it has additional line on PC. Here is PC file with that line removed: http://ulozto.net/xT4DLCjJ/s3-rtc-mp3 Nice, but I'll keep the original as it doesn't bother me that much compared to Asuka's wrong line. Foffy 62 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Does anyone have any idea if this conflicts with SilentPatch? I ask because when I try to use the maps addition this mod offers, the game crashes right away for me, and it's the only mod I'm using that changes anything in that directory. I'm also on 1.0 if that's needed to be known. I'll list all of the mods I'm using in case it may be something else. - Widescreen Fix - SilentPatch - GInput - Project 2DFX - Fixed Idle Animation - HQ Radar - HQ Radar Icons Edited March 2, 2015 by Foffy
Blackbird88 1,533 Posted March 2, 2015 I use SilentPatch myself and it works just fine.
Inadequate 3,500 Posted March 2, 2015 @Foffy: I use widescreen fix, silentpatch, ginput, idle animations and all fixes from this topic and everything works correctly.
Foffy 62 Posted March 2, 2015 Doh! I forgot to mention I was also using Map Fixes & Improvements, which is probably what it was. I'm sure there's overlap there, even if I only use map folders that aren't replaced from that mod, hence the crashes.
Inadequate 3,500 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Also I using the map fixes and improvements by TJGM too and everything works correctly. EDIT: Anybody know in which PS2 version of Vice City is present this textures/billboards? The Haitian Air one. I was playing my first release USA (NTSC-U) copy and this textures isn't present. Or... probably I searched wrong around the map. Edited March 3, 2015 by inadequate
Foffy 62 Posted March 3, 2015 Also I using the map fixes and improvements by TJGM too and everything works correctly. Huh...I have no idea what's wrong with my end, then. I keep getting the error message "Unhandled exception: c0000005 At address: 0048944c". Something has to be really off for me, if you're using the same mods I'm using and you have it working. What way did you install them? Would it matter if the Leftover's Fix was added before the Map Fixes? All I can get away with is everything except using the map data without it just failing to run. I even reinstalled everything all over again since that post, and nope, still not working. ):
Inadequate 3,500 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Well, uninstall everything or use a clean Vice City again and install this: Already includes the map fixes, improvements, leftovers fixes and others minor updates. All in one pack download This pack is compiled and updated by me, is the same what I have installed on my Vice City and works correctly on a clean install when I did the tests. For install it use IMG Tool 2.0 and remember uncheck the ONLY READ in gta3.img and gta3.dir (Right Click > Properties). Foffy 62 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Yeah..that's literally not working for me. Fresh install via Steam + Using the files in the Data folder = crash. It's specifically the Data folder that produces this for me, as I can play with the rest of the stuff just fine. I would have assumed maybe it would be another modification, but that's not cutting it. Is there something I'm missing here? I'll literally list the steps on what I've been doing. - Copy models folder over - Copy audio folder over - Add files to gta3.img (I have no idea if files have to be deleted or replaced in the image, I've merely only added them) - Copy the data folder over If I do the first three things, the game will run. It's on step four that the game will always fail to load, and I get that error message. I can confirm this happens to me on a clean install, before even doing things like adding widescreen support or SilentPatch. I've been using your repackage since I asked for a solution, so whatever my conflict can hopefully be narrowed down, as I originally thought it was a mod conflict. How does that happen when this is the only thing being added to the game now? Edited March 3, 2015 by Foffy
Inadequate 3,500 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Well, I think I found your mistake... - Add files to gta3.img (I have no idea if files have to be deleted or replaced in the image, I've merely only added them) Don't add the files only, you need delete first the originals ones and later add the modded ones. (e.g. Delete reefer.dff from gta3.img first later add the modded one to gta3.img) IMPORTANT: Inisde the gta3.img has two files with the same name metal.txd delete both and later add the modded one. I hope works now. If works report it here, please. Edited March 3, 2015 by inadequate
Foffy 62 Posted March 3, 2015 Do you have a list of all of the dupes that should be replaced? Or perhaps a tool that will easily overwrite them? I'll follow what you said, and report back my results. As an aside, how can I get all of these changes in place while also having TJGM's modification working too? It seems if they both make changes in areas, only one of them will work. What if I want the PS2 restoration with the changes to the game map his mod provides? Or am I stuck between choosing one or the other?

Or am I stuck between choosing one or the other? 1. Download the all in one pack again, inside the ZIP contents the name of the files which will be replaced (gta3.img). 2. I don't know if exists any tool for overwrite all the files (like Alci's IMG Tool for SA) but I think doesn't exists until now, at least for III/VC. 3. You can choose for any mod (the map fixes or the leftovers fixes) and install it individually, my pack include both in one because both mods looks cool ingame. 4. Both mods works at the same time ingame as well. Edited March 3, 2015 by inadequate
Foffy 62 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Oh wow, yours mixes both of them? I love you. I have the desire to play the series on PC with all of the bells and whistles the platform provides but also experience the game similarly to the console versions, so your mix is the best of both worlds. If only Rockstar ported the games without these types of omissions. I would have said Vice City was missing a lot of small things in its PC port, but it seems San Andreas is missing a lot more. I'm scared to even start with tampering with that game! I also got it to work. Thanks for the help! I imagined adding a file would merely replace or overwrite the other in priority, as I'm too used to that in the ArmA series. That's usually my bread and butter for PC gaming with mods. EDIT: In your mix, the file "cisland.col" is missing but in the Maps and Fixes fileset. Is there another col files that does the same thing, hence not taking it? Inadequate 3,500 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Yep, R* hates the PC and the PC gamers haha. For San Andreas you can check this topic. I also got it to work. Thanks for the help! I imagined adding a file would merely replace or overwrite the other in priority, as I'm too used to that in the ArmA series. That's usually my bread and butter for PC gaming with mods. And no with IMG Tool. You need delete or replace with it. At least for me is more easy delete the files and add all modified ones at first time. Glad to be helped, enjoy it. EDIT: In your mix, the file "cisland.col" is missing but in the Maps and Fixes fileset. Is there another col files that does the same thing, hence not taking it? cisland.col is already in the mix (data/maps/cisland), the same as Map Fixes.
