Vice City - The Leftovers Fix

I think Mediafire is better because it had a faster download speed for those who have s**tty internet connection in my opinion.

BTW, I have the PS2 police.mp3 in my files which I have to upload it to Mediafire soon tonight. If I remember correctly, isn't it inside the Updated SCM link on the first page? The PS2's police.mp3 sounded more similar to the actual police radio that was installed on the police cars while the PC version felt like it was on a walkie-talkie.

Yes it had a radio static from the PS2 than on the PC version. In this file it includes the PS2 SFX00048 (grenade sound) in the file itself.

What's the difference of the grenade sound between PS2 and PC?

EDIT: Nevermind.

Mugetsuga, on 07 Jul 2016 - 06:37 AM, said:SFX00048: On PC, it's played at 20000 Hz unlike on PS2 it was played at 44100 Hz. That sfx is used for the grenades explosion or Rhino's turret when firing for example.

Your opinion based on what? Google should be faster for most people (and also more reliable) because they have a ton of servers all over the world, which will provide faster access. Mediafire is likely not as reliable; for one thing, they could remove your files at any time to save bandwidth. Google Drive will never do that as long as you're either within the free space limit or as long as you pay for any extra space.

Edit: I can provide Google Drive hosting for this mod for free (indefinitely) within a certain limit (as long as the total amount of storage occupied doesn't exceed 20-30 GB). Let me know if you guys are interested.

Edit 2: I will provide hosting for the LC mod as well if you guys need a backup. Just tell me which files to host.

zip is done for modloader installation and for that some files have to be added manually to img

Yeah, game works before I add the leftover fixes too

I'm just curious, should the asi-files be in main directory or scripts-folder? I have them in main directory atm

E:I managed to get it to work after removing it from mod loader-folder, deleting gta-vc.set and then putting it back, still curious how to re-enable starting movie though

If you have newest Widescreen fix go to scripts, global.ini and set Direct3D8DisableMaximizedWindowedModeShim to 1 (if you have windows 8 and up), or play in windowed borderless mode via creating blank wndmode.ini in root of VC (you have to have either widescreen fix or ultimate asi loader too)

I got it already on both VC and III but the problem is that I can't get the moon phase in SA while in borderless windowed mode so no big deal for me.

They do not work in windowed mode.

Brilliant. I somehow never knew about that feature but now the intros work and v-sync is forced automatically (with frame limiter off) by Windows so I don't have to keep switching from Fast Sync to v-sync in the control panel.

Not sure whether I should post this here or in VBDec thread, but I've been tampering with VB files inside \audio\Music\ folder, trying to find the difference between platforms. So, there are 30 files inside:

ambsil.vb
bclosed.vb
beachamb.vb
bopen.vb
city.vb
dirtring.vb
emotion.vb
espant.vb
fever.vb
fist.vb
flash.vb
glight.vb
hbeach.vb
hcity.vb
hotel.vb
hwater.vb
kchat.vb
law4riot.vb
malibu.vb
mallamb.vb
miscom.vb
police.vb
rockamb.vb
strip.vb
taxi.vb
vcpr.vb
vrock.vb
water.vb
wave.vb
wild.vb

They are mostly responsible for radio stations and various ambient sounds. Almost all of them remain exactly the same between different versions, except four: flash.vb, police.vb, taxi.vb and wild.vb.

1) EU 1.40, US 1.50 and Australia. All these are exactly the same.

2) EU 2.03, US 2.01 and Germany. flash.vb and wild.vb are changed. Flash FM no longer has Running with the Night, but Wildstyle Pirate Radio now has "Pump, pump, pump, pump me up!" restored in the very beginning. Seriously, now it really does sound proper.

The Japanese version also has the taxi.vb changed. The only difference is the removed message from Delores mentioning Little Haiti:

There's some kind of demonstration going on in Little Haiti. If you can get there, you can make a killing!

3) EU 3.00 and US 3.00. The third version catches up with the Japanese one and removes all Little Haiti references from police.vb as well. However, the way they did it looks really rushed, because they literally only removed sentences with "Little Haiti" in them, turning messages like "This is radio control. We got an incident in Little Haiti. Disturbance in progress, over." into meaningless phrases like "This is radio control. Disturbance in progress, over." with no specific location mentioned whatsoever. It also reuses the edited taxi.vb from the Japanese version, but for some reason it's sample rate is changed from 32 KHz to 16 KHz, maybe to match police.vb, which is 16 KHz in all versions.

So, the most full set possible is the earliest version released, but with updated wild.vb. Personally, I'd also manually edit taxi.vb to change the sample rate from 32 KHz to 16 KHz, mainly because it's meant to sound low quality.

Nice findings Claude_Lib, since the v2.XX and v3.XX versions files is in someway incomplete, is there a way to restore "Pump, pump, pump, pump me up!" from v2.XX files into v1.XX versions files?

By the way, there are differences into GTA III versions? Apart from "O Mio Babbino Caro", etcetera.

I listened wild.vb through and "Pump, pump, pump, pump me up!" is literally the only difference, so you can safely use the newer one.

Hey folks,

I have a problem. My unbuyable property icons are still blue/purple instead of red.

I have installed the mod via mod loader and so far this seems to be the only issue I experience.

Anyone else have that issue? :panic:

Edit:

Never mind. I fixed it. I simply used the Magic.TXD tool to delete the duplicate "bluegrad32" (the actual blue one) from the file "icons4.txd" inside the to "models/gta3.img/" folder. Easy as pie...

Very interesting stuff right here, I wonder why R* used different audio file between versions except for v3.00 that's very known subject.

The extended Wildstyle Intro was added in the PC version and was used ever since, seeing as the later edited PS2 versions had to change the audio (cut songs, remove lines from cutscenes, etc) it just made sense to also throw on the extended Wildstyle too.

The funny thing is, the restored Wildstyle from PS2 is still not identical to the PC one. When I put them against each other in Audacity, they go in complete sync for some time but then they reach the point where the PC one has several milliseconds cut out of it so it slightly skips ahead. There are several points like this along the way, all of which make the whole track two seconds shorter overall. All the while all PS2 versions, both with and without the restored beginning, are completely identical.

Don't look at the sample rate, I downsampled the PC file just so it would be easier to sync them.

Been ages since I commented on this thread but damn... things evolved since I attempted this back in 2014. Vice City feels fantastic with all these fixes, alongside other mods to make it look nicer and I thank all of you for being dedicated and more skilled than I ever hoped to be on fixing Vice City on the PC.
