I've seen this more times than I can remember. Save games get corrupt when you make changes to the IMG file.

 

How is possible? Sh*t. :(

Yes, start a new game, save it and it will not happen.

Think about it. The save game loads the information ( all the folders and locations for everything) from your game. If you've changed something, the save game can't find all the information it's looking for, hence things won't be right.

Oops, forgot to say any changes in the MAPS folder will also corrupt save games.

Changes in the img file won't break save games (that might be true with SA and it's binary ipls).

Changes in the MAPS folder (more specifically IPL files), MAY corrupt the save game depending on how and what you've edited, the basic rule is, if you don't change the order of lines, don't remove any line, and add new items to the very end of the level loader, nothing breaks.

All the fixes should be combined into one .zip/.rar if possible. (if they won't cause the game to throw an unhandled exception, which they do to me even though i didn't do sh*t wrong, nor do have any other mods)

All I installed was the Malibu neon fix and Tomasak's fixes.

EDIT:Think I got it figured out. I was using a sh*tty old IMG tool. Don't know what one I should use. I've been using IMG Tool 2.0 since forever.

Try G-IMG.

Did you used vanilla gta3.img when you modded it with G-IMG?

Did you also put files from textdb archive? If yes, don't use it because it is for android.

Nope, didn't.

One thing I noticed is that after replacing files in the .img with G-IMG, Windows puts a little gold lock icon on the .IMG file's thumbnail. That can't be good.

Then even though the files are already installed these fixes, so easy to throw them into your game and play? I just now put yourself textures and half I didn't work in the game, though .txd shows that all replaced correctly.

@AnLog: I don't understand very well what you mean, but for install these mods and fixes you need:

 

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Is an obvious requirement but if you don't have it or you have it pirated. Also support and show some love to Richstar)

IMG Tool 2.0

 

Installing the mods is easy as pie:

Download the mod (for example: reefer.dff).

Open gta3.img from your Vice City directory with IMG Tool.

Search the original reefer.dff inside the file and delete it.

Add the downloaded reefer.dff with the option 'Add' from IMG Tool, wait a little bit and voila, now you can open your Vice City with the mod installed.

I know this is VC thread, but does anyone here have a3_ss from PS2 version of GTAIII? It's the cutscene where Asuka says that FBI and police are watching you instead of saying it's Mafia.

I know for a fact that there was one GTAIII mission missing them, but I had no idea it's bug.

 

Sadly it's most likely main.scm issue as the GXT entries are still present.
