It's finally ready: PS2 Feels Vice City Edition!

 

What is it?

For the people who downloaded PS2 Feels for San Andreas, they already know, for the ones who didn't and don't know, the aim of PS2 Feels is to convert the PS2 textures uncompressed to not loose quality.

There are even more textures changed in the menu.

 

Optional folder:

Some little choices, it depends what you prefer.

Normally, I didn't plan to give a choice here. The texture used for VCLF uses the texture name of a texture completely different, but I was able to find it, that's why it's called VCLF option:

By default, the textures used in game and during cutscenes are differents, here, you can choose to have the outfit full in game or full cutscene:

VC Fixes is updated with only the files needed:

Now, how to install this?

You need the current version of VCLF 18.03.16.

You need also VC Fixes.

Only after you can install PS2 Feels.

 

There are two types of installation, Modloader or IMG:

For Modloader, or you drag and drop VC Fixes in the VCLF folder and you replace the files or you set the priority, in this case VC Fixes must have a higher priority. Same thing for PS2 Feels, or you drag and drop and you replace the files or you set the priority, in this case PS2 Feels must have a higher priority than VCLF and VC Fixes.

 

For IMG, you just drag and drop the files, go in data folder, open gta_vc.dat and below CDIMAGE MODELS\VCLF.img, add the line CDIMAGE MODELS\PS2FEELS.img.

It has to look like that:

CDIMAGE MODELS\VCLF.img

CDIMAGE MODELS\PS2FEELS.img

 

I think that's all, I hope for Modloader, you understood everything.

 

Mods needed:

SkyGFX, in the INI file set disableBackfaceCulling=0 to disableBackfaceCulling=1 (really important)

ViceMips from DK22Pac

Ken's sunglasses are not transparent when I downloaded this, I already saw this problem before and it got fixed so I don't even know how this happened.

Yo need to activate the Xbox rim light on ped, in the SkyGfx.

Alright it fixed it but I do remember BeckermannDewitt fixed it and then VCLF got the update to apply it and now the ps2 feels makes it not transparent again. I'll try to edit the files so it can fix it without any xbox graphic improvements.

EDIT: Ok yeah I added the missing glasses texture and it really needed that rim lighting feature. Speaking of, every texture that was a ps2 fix like the landstalker license plate is gone since all of these new and wonderful textures were converted from ps2 uncompressed. Even though most of the VCLF textures were to make them like they were on ps2, some were direct fixes for the ps2 texture, same applies to the GTA SA PS2 Feels which has some of the fixes applied called "Improvements" Oh well, nice work as always :)

I think the one in the pack restores the missing animations from PS2 and the improved ped.ifp fixes some issues, here's a quote of what it does:

CHANGELOG:

  • fixed walk_fat so the left arm doesn't twitch between the first and last frames
  • replaced the death animation for getting shot in the stomach with one converted from GTA 3, as it looks more visually interesting
  • fixed RIFLE_fire so the last frame matches up with the idling animation and the weapon doesn't slide out of Tommy's left hand
  • fixed one frame in the minigun/flame thrower animation where tommy's arms twitch to the left
  • imported some animations from PS2 including the weapon idling stances, some woman walking animations, and the middle finger gesture which now an "up yours!" instead
  • created a new idle animation for the rocket launcher, so it matches the others and isn't just one plain pose
  • fixed one of the death animations so the last frame is exactly the same pose as a normal corpse and isn't off
  • replaced one of the jogging animations as they were originally both identical, female joggers now jog like in san andreas
  • added an idle animation to the knife so it isn't just one pose, made using the fist-fighting stance
  • modified the talking, head-scratching, taxi-hailing, and waiting animations so the legs can move independently, allowing for peds to scratch their heads while running or talk to each other while roller skating in place
  • replaced the female idling stance with one converted from GTA3
  • added finger movements to a handful of animations that lacked them, for the head-scratching animation you can actually see their fingers move up and down!
  • modified some animations to reduce leg-jiggling
  • run-stopping animations have been redone, they are now based on sprint_civi instead of run_civi and the transition to the idling animation has been made smoother
  • the pistol-firing animation for cops has been changed so it isn't identical to the python one, the legs now stay in one place

I don't get this. They are transparent on PS2 too, so... why they aren't transparent on your game?

I don't get it either, I checked that footage earlier and i'm still confused. What's amazing though is when you have only VCLF installed and not PS2 Feels included, the glasses are fixed while with PS2 Feels, it's just looks odd like he smoked a bong and his glasses were all foggy.

said, you need xbox rim lighting or add alpha to texture he used for glasses. ASAP i release update, i will release it with texture source, so it could be all fixed.

Besides, I had like two saves I worked hard on and they both got corrupted because of the updatedscm updates so i'm going take a break on this game for now and try to complete San Andreas or GTA3

 

Is it the save-friendly SCM that made them corrupted? I did not yet release a new version, because with BD we're still on a few things, and until it's all seamless, I don't want you to keep on restarting the game that often. New version comes out when it's ready. Might be days away, or weeks later, or more or less.

 

 

Another thing that those characters have xbox hands too and they don't really match to the rest of the cutscene actors which they still have their PS2/PC hand counterpart. :/

 

In that case, one option is to use my beta xbox hands mod (which I shared with Forever L, and the text file in the archive is for him - but there are issues with the player models and some others) and replace only all of the CS actors. Some models are Forever L's, because lazy me ain't gonna duplicate anything. Feel free to improve and edit anything

Are those xbox hands animated though? I guess not... Anyway if you ask me I'd rather change the current cutscene actor hands back to their PS2 ones, it would look low quality, sure. But at least it looks way better than someone that can't manage to move their own fingers.

Look, you can not be what makes the model is incompatible. I made a small review on the game, here I leave a video.
The model has hands by default. And is loaded by modloader.

Ok I installed it with Modloader, literally the same thing as the other install methods, however you were right that installing only PS2 Feels making his glasses normal.

 

So far...

VCLF (with or without VC FIXES)= Glasses are fixed

 

JUST PS2 Feels= It's like your video, no errors at all except for the missing lens which VCLF fixes.

 

VCLF + PS2 Feels= Glasses are not transparent.

So somehow with VCLF AND PS2 Feels together the glasses are not transparent at all.

 

So basically like Tomasak said, Enable Xbox Rim Lighting or the alpha so that's really the only solution for me.

Hey ForeverL.

 

I have a question regarding the Rim Light on peds, which looks incredible on this video.

 

I already have the SkyGfx mod loaded in ModLoader, but for some reason it doesn't trigger the rim light on peds, even when hitting F5. Everything else is working though. And yes, I enabled it by changing the value to 1.

 

Could you please confirm if rim light is dependable on peds' quality and is there a way to be fixed?
