I've been working on docks31.dff for a while, starting, stopping, starting again... I finally have some results but it'll take some time before it's fully ready:

Howdy guys. Wanna contribute in a way as well. I'm done with some main.scm modding (and its testing, it should all work - but if anything's still off, I'll take a look if you ping me). If anyone's interested beside me..

 

 


From the Japanese game version, I adopted a few changes (and nothing got censored, worry not):

  • The message 'Come back when you have finished the Biker gang missions.' is shown for 4 seconds instead of 1
  • Duration of Pole Position mission complete cutscene is slightly longer.
  • The Infernus spawn inside the mall is disabled during 'All Hands On Deck!'
  • The driver of Candy's car in 'Recruitment Drive' can no longer be shot while in the car.
  • The limo driver and Candy can no longer be shot while in the car in 'Martha's Mug Shot'. In addition, the driver no longer responds to threats and the limo is fireproof.
  • During 'Cannon Fodder', the player now leaves the taxi slightly before the Cubans, instead of right after.
  • The Voodoo's with Cubans in 'Trojan Voodoo' are now fireproof, and the Cubans no longer respond to threats.
  • The Topfun van is set to not be locked in position at the end of 'Bombs Away!'
  • Bugfix in 'Love Juice' regarding trying to pick up Mercedes. It is now only possible in a car or motorcycle (with exception Pizza Boy/Baggage) as per instructed. No more easy heli rides!
  • The player is now removed from any vehicle and the vehicle despawned after the intro cutscene in 'Publicity Tour' if he was in one.

Two minor things:

  • Lance now appears as IGBudy3 instead of the usual IGBuddy in 'Death Row'.
  • Removed a misplaced pedestrian in the cutscene of the mission 'Messing With the Man' (only his head was visible). -- not sure how to move the positions of a cutscene actor that's why I removed it

Added some audio lines ingame:

  • During the mission "The Chase" after the Shark boss gets into the BF injection, Tommy will soon make the remark: "Sick of these pricks!"
  • During the mission "The Fastest Boat" when you jump in the boat to steal it, you'll hear Jethro and Dwaine lamenting: "He's taking the boat. Bummer.", "Some square's stealing the boat, man!"
  • During the mission "Death Row", Diaz's goons will taunt you verbally at the junk yard: "Do you think you can get away with this?".
  • During the mission "Keep your Friends Close", Tommy will now shout "Sonny? SONNY! I'm coming for ya!" in response to Sonny's killing order.
  • Diaz's butler will greet you before mission cutscenes "The Chase" and the "Phnom Penh '86" (afterwards, you can imagine that Diaz killed or fired him..)
  • Strippers now say some comments to you in the Pole Position Club when the camera changes, at the private stripteaser room. This might increase the monotonous scene's atmosphere a bit, although it gets repetitive.

Phone call additions:

  • During Umberto Robina's call, Tommy will now reply with an additional "Yeah, maybe..." when Umberto asks: "wanna work for me?"
  • Ken Rosenberg now gives you some business advice (after completing the mission 'Shakedown')
  • Kent Paul rings you up regarding the the SWAT retirement fund which is later seized in the mission 'The Job', happens shortly after you purchase the Malibu Club.
  • Phil Cassidy now calls after you complete the last storyline mission (Keep your Friends Close)
  • Mercedes now also rings you up after you complete the mission 'Rub Out'.
  • Mercedes now rants to you about Jezz Torrent after you complete the mission 'Love Juice'.

Lastly, Tommy is more talkative and says a few more inner-monologues to the player:

  • After completing the mission 'Death Row'
  • After completing the mission 'Rub Out'
  • After initial cutscene of 'Love Juice'
  • After initial cutscene of 'Spilling the Beans'
  • After initial cutscene of 'Cap the Collector'
  • After finishing with Avery's business advice call (after 'Shakedown')

(It does require some .gxt file text changes, but there is a text file explaining what sorta values to edit if you don't want to use the bundled american.gxt in the zip or wish to use it for a different language.)

Anyway is there possible to do airtrain collision like in lcs or vcs in vc/3 would be great to add this thing into this mod

Sorry, forgot to mention that a new game is needed. It's mostly because of the additional phone calls. That's the boon with modifying main.scm. I also had to restart the game many times for testing. If you ain't in the mood to start & replay a fresh new game, I can leave out some things and it might just work with your saved games. I'll begin by removing the additional phone calls, and the stripper audio. Those two are definitely making it crash from what I've observed. When I'm done and it works with old save files, I'll share the stripped down version so one can choose between the two.

Okay, then no need to say anything. I ain't gonna sniff into private stuff. Vercetti's business might do that, not me. I'm also not sure whether to share my shaky Xbox hands mod for VC, one that includes all the peds and remaining cutscene + ingame characters, inspired by this topic. Still have to fix the textures for the peds, then I can give it a whirl to share..though it has its peculiarities..I can't do much more than what I've reached. It obviously needs fixes from experienced modelers, I ain't too good with this. I might upload it to GTAGarage when the textures are fixed. Or open a topic for it at the appropriate section. Gone through a lil more than 190 characters during 3-4 weeks.

 

Release this on GTAGarage as standalone mod.

It's a very simple skin edit, but sure, soon..

 

And here is the stripped-down version of the main.scm that should work with the game's old saved files. This one does not require messing with GXT entries. These things that would cause a game crash were removed:

  • No more audio from strippers.
  • Phone call additions were all cut. Just to make sure..
  • Tommy's inner monologue after Avery's call (at 'Shakedown') is removed.

I have brought over all textures that are : higher quality/higher resolution from DimZet's Xbox mod to VCLF. I have replaced whatever textures that are higher quality/resolution than VCLF or GTA VC default texture. The texture fixes in VCLF is retained as I do not touch them (but you might find some walls of different colour as i replaced them with a higher resolution one from Xbox mod), I merely replace textures with higher quality ones, mostly concrete, metal, roof top and vegetation. Fixes like jocksport, vice city marina bay sign is retained, because all the TXD files are from VCLF.

If you're interested in playing VCLF with higher quality textures I'll upload the VCLF TXDs with higher quality texture here, they're pretty much identical to the vanilla texture, just higher resolution and better quality so it won't ruin the atmosphere.

Hey, just wanted to say I edited the german.gxt to work with your main.scm, funny thing is, most of the text was still present in it compared to the original american.gxt. :D

  • During 'Cannon Fodder', the player now leaves the taxi slightly before the Cubans, instead of right after.
  • The Voodoo's with Cubans in 'Trojan Voodoo' are now fireproof, and the Cubans no longer respond to threats.
  • The Topfun van is set to not be locked in position at the end of 'Bombs Away!'
  • Bugfix in 'Love Juice' regarding trying to pick up Mercedes. It is now only possible in a car or motorcycle (with exception Pizza Boy/Baggage) as per instructed. No more easy heli rides!
  • The player is now removed from any vehicle and the vehicle despawned after the intro cutscene in 'Publicity Tour' if he was in one.
Two minor things:
  • Lance now appears as IGBudy3 instead of the usual IGBuddy in 'Death Row'.
  • Removed a misplaced pedestrian in the cutscene of the mission 'Messing With the Man' (only his head was visible). -- not sure how to move the positions of a cutscene actor that's why I removed it
Added some audio lines ingame:
  • During the mission "The Chase" after the Shark boss gets into the BF injection, Tommy will soon make the remark: "Sick of these pricks!"
  • During the mission "The Fastest Boat" when you jump in the boat to steal it, you'll hear Jethro and Dwaine lamenting: "He's taking the boat. Bummer.", "Some square's stealing the boat, man!"
  • During the mission "Death Row", Diaz's goons will taunt you verbally at the junk yard: "Do you think you can get away with this?".
  • During the mission "Keep your Friends Close", Tommy will now shout "Sonny? SONNY! I'm coming for ya!" in response to Sonny's killing order.
  • Diaz's butler will greet you before mission cutscenes "The Chase" and the "Phnom Penh '86" (afterwards, you can imagine that Diaz killed or fired him..)
  • Strippers now say some comments to you in the Pole Position Club when the camera changes, at the private stripteaser room. This might increase the monotonous scene's atmosphere a bit, although it gets repetitive.
Phone call additions:
  • During Umberto Robina's call, Tommy will now reply with an additional "Yeah, maybe..." when Umberto asks: "wanna work for me?"
  • Ken Rosenberg now gives you some business advice (after completing the mission 'Shakedown')
  • Kent Paul rings you up regarding the the SWAT retirement fund which is later seized in the mission 'The Job', happens shortly after you purchase the Malibu Club.
  • Phil Cassidy now calls after you complete the last storyline mission (Keep your Friends Close)
  • Mercedes now also rings you up after you complete the mission 'Rub Out'.
  • Mercedes now rants to you about Jezz Torrent after you complete the mission 'Love Juice'.
Lastly, Tommy is more talkative and says a few more inner-monologues to the player:
  • After completing the mission 'Death Row'
  • After completing the mission 'Rub Out'
  • After initial cutscene of 'Love Juice'
  • After initial cutscene of 'Spilling the Beans'
  • After initial cutscene of 'Cap the Collector'
  • After finishing with Avery's business advice call (after 'Shakedown')

(It does require some .gxt file text changes, but there is a text file explaining what sorta values to edit if you don't want to use the bundled american.gxt in the zip or wish to use it for a different language.)

 

Hey, just wanted to say I edited the german.gxt to work with your main.scm, funny thing is, most of the text was still present in it compared to the original american.gxt. :D

Howdy guys. Wanna contribute in a way as well. I'm done with some main.scm modding (and its testing, it should all work - but if anything's still off, I'll take a look if you ping me). If anyone's interested beside me..

 

 

 

From the Japanese game version, I adopted a few changes (and nothing got censored, worry not):

  • The message 'Come back when you have finished the Biker gang missions.' is shown for 4 seconds instead of 1
  • Duration of Pole Position mission complete cutscene is slightly longer.
  • The Infernus spawn inside the mall is disabled during 'All Hands On Deck!'
  • The driver of Candy's car in 'Recruitment Drive' can no longer be shot while in the car.
  • The limo driver and Candy can no longer be shot while in the car in 'Martha's Mug Shot'. In addition, the driver no longer responds to threats and the limo is fireproof.

My game crashes all the time whenever I hang around North Point mall for 3+ minutes.

Other parts of Vice City is fine, but the crash only occurs inside North Point mall, I get the unhandled exception error, and I have rebuilt the gta3.img, and left it untouched as soon as i installed VCLF

Here's what I do, I walk into North Point mall, complete rampage, run up the escalator and pick up the clothes outside Gash (aka Zip). The moment i touch the clothes icon my game crash, maybe not immediately, if i managed to change my clothes first time, I run around the mall, pick up the clothes again, it will crash.

EDIT : Seems like the more mod I have the more likely My game will crash (only in north point mall)

EDIT 2 : It's not your mod that is causing it, my apologies. I tried it on the original VC, installed mods (except VCLF) to narrow down the problem, still crashed, one of these mods is causing it, and i suspect it's Project 2DFX or Limit Adjuster.

EDIT 3: Increasing EntryInfoNode = 30000 (Limit Adjuster) seems to reduce the crash drastically, so far haven't experienced any crash in the mall. One of the culprit of the crash is the mod: VC:Traffic, even increasing EntryInfoNode doesn't help much.
