Can't Shoot From Car

I am currently unable to fire from my car. This whole week it's been happening on and off and I didn't post here because I figured it was something dumb I was doing to deactivate it. But I've been complaining to my friends for about a week now when it happens and there sick of hearing about it lol, so fellow forums users WTF am I doing to not be able to shoot from a car. I have the controls set to aim+fire btw. I played the PS3 version for 15 days in game time (redshirted last season lol) and never encountered this issue.

R1 is duck for me. L1+R1 does nothing

Hold L1 to aim & press R1 to fire. You need to set the alternate handbrake option so X acts as the handbrake. If you prefer to have R1 as your handbrake, then X might be to fire while holding L1 to aim.

Again, I'm holding L1, no crosshair shows up, then pressing R1, and nothing fires. I can switch weaponns just fine. I have my handbrake as x and duck as R1. Tried your idea with pressing x anyways and it did not work. I'm 99% sure I'm pressing the right buttons unless this is the beginning of my slide into dementia, so its probably some dumb button I clicked that disabled it tbh. Does any button exist like that in the game?? Like seriously, one day it works and the next day it doesn't, I'm doing nothing new.

Yeah, L1&R1 is new for me, but works. Check your controller configuration, maybe it went to a different default for some reason?

haha I've checked over and over this whole week man and even tried different configurations. The problem isn't me pressing the wrong button, it's the button not activating regardless which button it is assigned to. I've tried switching the handbrake button and three or four different trigger configurations and NOTHING works, except for that time every 8-10 hours when I can actually shoot out of a car for some reason. No one else has experienced a glitch like this?!? Rockstar moderators? lease someone lol it makes some missions such a pain to have to get out of the car to fire a sticky bomb.

This has happened to me on on random occasions. It doesn't happen often but when it does, I have to restart GTA.

This happens with other instances such as getting in a car and not being able to drive it. I think it's a server related issue where since they're lagging as f*ck and not processing your commands correctly.

I have two controllers, and what I meant was I switched fire to different buttons and none of them worked. SO I tried many different controller inputs and still received no aim and fire output. Also to the other commented, I'm rank 209 I have ammo lol.

 

THANKYOU so much to the two answers before me though for answering my question. Glad to know, and not shocked at all, it's a server issue.

 

I probably should have added that it works 100% of the time for me in story mode (offline).

Update: None of the suggested solutions have helped me. I managed to lock on once to a normal pedestrian but couldnt shoot. Since then 3 hours of grinding and nothing. Singleplayer continues to work just fine. WTF is going on?

rockstar doesn't read these boards, so asking for help here will do nothing....

 

try changing the drive-by settings from 'aim + fire' to just 'fire', see if that helps......sounds sh*tty, hopefully you get it worked out
