Of course all everyone goes for is ''Go for X because it has the highest stats in the X class.''

Go with what you like. If you're good at the game, you'll win in races regardless.

 

If you're looking for suggestions, the Serrano SUV has a very nice body shape and it has lots of customizational options including a spoiler if you fancy that.

 

The Prairie is a sleek looking compact car. It looks far more sporty and lean than all other compacts plus it has lots of modifications.

 

The Patriot is a strong car with a very high suspension, consider not lowering it. It delivers lots of push power and some types come with custom roof lights or a bumper cage. Also, you can use it in Off-Road and SUV races.

Turismo (racing plus awesome)

Sandking xl (awesome plus sort of bulletproof from NPC)

Carbonizarre (almost 100% NPC bulletproof, mission car)

Massacro (race car)

Tornado hardtop (for the sexyness)

 

Actually I don't think I'd bother with 10 if I started again, just those. Maybe get a Huntley also for the bashing other cars fun of it.

EDIT: Although giants is hated, he has a point. The Banshed is actually a great mission and race car. Sure, it's no Massacro, but it still has power.

-Turismo (fast and IMO beautiful looking, underrated supercar),

-Jester (possibly the most balanced car in the game, also underrated),

-Huntley or Dubsta (cool vs classy SUVs, you decide),

-Monroe or Coquette Classic (most fun/good looking classics, whichever suits your fancy),

-Bifta (the OG GTA off-roader),

-Bodhi (possibly the fastest/coolest looking truck),

-Sabre Turbo (great looking/sounding muscle car, with or without mods),

-Dukes or Stallion (excellent alternatives to Sabre, if on NG),

-Banshee (possibly the best drifter, awesome at achieving downshifting acceleration boosts)

-Surano (possibly the most beautiful car in the game, also has great performance and is fun to drive, too)
