I'll take a look.

 

Meanwhile I've made a new version: the material's surface properties are now handled correctly. This should match the PS2 lighting exactly now (darker license plates, darker cars in general, bright lights by default).

The flickering bug is fixed. Funnily enough it was the same bug I fixed in Silent's NVC shader.

Updated the file.

 

snoops26: Are you referring to the environment map? How does it look when you switch to the PC pipeline (F6)? It should look the same, if so, it's Rockstar's fault then.

Ah yeah. You can slightly see it's off centre even when F6'd. Damn you R* :D Maybe Aztecas could fix the Picador :p

I hope I can get the PS2 style environment map to work, I think it looks at least a little bit better. This is the only feature that's still missing now.

Guys, I just realise that there is different versions of gta_sa.exe, for example:

- Version 1.0 US HOODLUM

- Version 1.0 US Shark and Stefan188

- Version 1.01 Deviance

First of all I appeal to The Hero - what .exe you can advice for using with postfx and generally with mods ? Or version of .exe does not matter in this situation ?

Ok guys, that's it. I just uploaded the first feature complete version of ps2refl. Unless there are any bug reports now or I improve the code otherwise, this is final now.

I implemented the PS2 environment maps (at least what I'm seeing looks very much like the PS2 behaviour). F6 now cycles between PS2, PS2 with PC environment map, PC pipeline (in that order). PS2 pipeline being the default.

I'm really happy this is finally working now. It's like a dream come true for me :)

Hum, some vehicles have the reflection on wheels, but I guess it's more of a dff matter than the plugin itself.

What vehicles? Screenshot maybe? I could very well be wrong at some place in the code, I mostly used Dexx's code.

No sir there's nothing wrong with your code, even on PC some vehicles have specular/reflections on it's wheels, I remember reporting most of them in the fixed vehicles thread months ago, but it wasn't very noticeable until now:

I suppose there's no way to create a script that forces disables specular/reflection on all vehicles wheels?

Here's part of the list I posted months ago, with all vehicles that have reflection on wheels I could find at the time (includes some other vehicle bugs that are already fixed):

 

- Faggio: No exhaust model and specular on wheels.
- Pizzaboy: No exhaust model and specular on wheels.
- Tractor: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Farmtr1: Specular lighting on wheels and f*cked up shadow.
- Caddy: No exhaust model, no exhaust smoke and specular lighting on wheels.
- Rhino: No exhaust smoke and specular on wheels.
- BF-400: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Bike: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Mountain Bike: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- FCR-900: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- NRG-500: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Wayfarer: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Intruder: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Buccaneer: Specular Lighting on wheels.
- Cement Truck: Specular Lighting on wheels.

Few possible workaround suggestions if you plan some:

-make the headlights cast light on other objects (walls, trees, etc.)

-fix huge amount of flickering textures (especially on buildings)

-restore Trails effect if it was on PS2 (someone said that PS2 ver does not have it, I dont know), or else create it as PC exclusive XD (just dreaming, I love Trails madly :inlove:)

-restore PS2 gameplay features, missions, etc.

 

However it is almost decade since I wait pc ver with original ps2 graphics. Getting ready to my first walkthrough. Thank you so much !

First I'll try with a converted PS2 DFF. But Silent said we could probably do it in the asi.

Well he removed specular from blown up cars so I'm sure he can do it, nothing is impossible for the Cookie Monster :p

SilentPatch features this IIRC.

 

O_o I see only headlights on the ground, characters and vehicles.

Pretty sure lights only cast on dynamic objects, like vehicles & characters.

 

The headlight shadow you see on the ground is simply a texture, it's not actually lighting anything up.

What makes you think Trails are present on PS2? Sounds like you haven't even tested Hero's mods, as the thing you probably call Trails is PS2 post processing which Hero's already done.

 

Also, what "PS2 gameplay features" again?

I want PS2 purple dildo! It has a nice PS2 atmosphere on that long hard thing and I like it.

It is fun to kill people with that kind of precious PS2 dildo.

I hope The Hero will be able to make the dildo exactly or almost for PC, maybe lovelydildo2.asi?

GTA SA+PS2 timecyc+PS2 postfx+PS2 grass+PS2 purple dildo=my dream is complete.
