Hey The Hero. I am sure this has been requested a lot, but do you plan on bringing the Xbox/Mobile shadows to skygfx? It must be difficult, isn't it?

You can do this with shadow ini extender by dk22pac.

Let's be honest, it's bad and DK seems to have given up a long time ago. I wish he fixed that Mobile HUD too.

I'm not really interested in shadows. I only wanted to disable the stencil shadows in SA and that I did.

They are not only performance hungry, but ugly too. Check out any aircraft propeler. Or observe the shadow of a big vehicle and you'll see square chunks.

You can look at VCS PC source and try and rip the better shadows from that, they were based on DK's code but adapted to look more fitting.

Lol who, me? I am actually studying computer engineering (C, C++ and Java so far) but I don't think I have the time to start reading the modding documentation.

I disable building shadow, cause its the lag source problem.

Naw, I've tried this before, it's nowhere near the mobile/xbox experience. And since it's still DK's shadows extender, the bugs I mentioned are still there. Anyways, I have a question. What are those stencil shadows and why would someone want them disabled?

Stencil shadows are the tree/building/vehicle shadows, they're awfully bad.

Well I like them! I think they look better and far more detailed than that blur.

Not sure whether these " smears " are supposed to be there or not, but they are getting on my nerves. Didn't notice them before, seems like they just appeared all of a sudden. They are most pronounced when looking the sky. Any thoughts what might be causing them? Thanks in advance!

That's how it's on PS2 as well. Original trails behaviour. I think sharptrails removes all of that stuff, including blur as well and only leaving trails colorization in case you don't know it.

If that's how it was supposed to be on (GREAT) PlayStation 2, then I ain't touching it, lol, let it be. Just don't know how I didn't notice that before.

Just found out that skygfx adds some props to the maps, like some trunks and weird looking stones with half stone, half tree texture. Why is that?

People (inadequate) complained, so I changed the random number generatator. Then other people complained again, so i did something else. Then people kept complaining and I no longer listened. And they're probably complaining to this day!

Also the release on github should be changed (as I see it), because it implies that colorcycle.dat should be placed in the root directory.

Wow i always was fan of VCS PC shadows only dreaming about having them in the base game. So, if anyone could do that I (and probably many others) would be forever grateful.

Just watched a video of the mod, what is it with them? Just that they’re soft instead of the sharp shadows SA has?

 

I never understood why Dk22’s ini called them building shadows considering only some props cast shadows, not the buildings themselves. Still waiting one day for someone to make a stable SA::Render/Renderhook that allows you to keep the default atmosphere/timecyc, and just add dynamic shadows for everything. Give SA that updated Bully: SE look.

 

Was that on the renderware engine or some kind of early build of RAGE?

Video?, Can you give us the link, i don't think that they use RAGE or similar, maybe he uses renderware,
