SkyGfx: PS2, Xbox and Mobile graphics for PC

Yet again it proves that R* cut off a lot of graphic things from PC version not only because of curved hands, but mostly because of really weak hardware to reproduce all PS2 features in 2005. And even in 2018 we can see that someone experiences slowdowns with those features brought back to us with skygfx.

I think I set Neo reflections to 2048 on my 980 Ti and didn't notice a performance impact but mods do seem to cause some stability issues in general. Vanilla GTA games do run smoother a lot of the time.

Me too, I lose couple frames in center of los santos using neo, but nothing more. I set 512x and looks superb, I use too 2dfx and works great, but not all players has I7 processor and 8gb with 2gb videocard. Downscale is necessary for someone. I agree with Dealux and Marsi4eg, "pc settings" are the fastest.

When you lose some FPS, how much are we talking here?

Haven't noticed any performance issues between versions (not even with latest builds) and I don't even have the latest and greatest (mobile) hardware. I do however always run the game with framelimiter on so all I'll ever see is 30 fps, even then it's always been stable though.

In my case I lose 10 fps in rare moments, but I use 60 fps fix with frame limiter. So really far from a lag situation. Works great, but not like a fresh installation.

there isn't proper 60 fps fix, use ingame frame limiter, 30 fps for this game is the best choise. With current silentpatch it's extremely smooth and nice

...Isn't it obvious? You've got MORE vehicles on screen and it's having to apply an additional envmap for each. But even then it isn't that hard of a hit, how old is your hardware?

No, it's not obvious. I have GTX 660 ti, why this sort of reflections kills my FPS to 25? Is this normal? On ORIGINAL cars.

60 is best than slow 30..

That's an adjuster but not a fix. Maybe you're not informed about game-breaking bugs with physics when playing with FPS higher than 30

Yes, I know that. But depends by the adjuster you use, some of these makes game instable, other just you can't swim, car brakes and other issues, but this one with silent patch works very well.

Why "Neo" reflections in SA Sky GFX "eats" so many FPS when 15-25 cars at screen?

use reflexes of Ps2 and the coloration of ps2 tbm is taking a 5fps. The way is to stay with the old version

Hello, I need a little help for Vice City. Skygfx works well but I need to force neo reflections everytime I load a game with F6. But I set carpipe=1, it's strange because the other directx9 features (I use Xbox map) are activated.

Those are generally brief moments. In SA, I remember about a 3 FPS loss when moving from area to area with the game running in a borderless window (thus technically no v-sync forced onto the engine, but capped at 60 FPS by Windows still). Had lots of mods though, including texture mods.

In III, the FPS loss was much greater which is no surprise since it's the worst optimized game of the III era. It happens in the vanilla game as well but less often. It seems to have something to do with sounds loading in for the most part. VC is by far the most stable game out of the three. FPS loss is very rare or almost nonexistent from what I remember.

Have you removed the ';' from the line?

If you have the game running a 30fps there's no need to complain. It's supposed to run at this frame rate. If you play it on 60 and lose some frames it's not a big deal since you shouldn't be playing at 60 in the first place :D

Indeed runs great, the Hero does an excellent work. Yes 60 fps makes the games more funny, a pleasure.

However I confirm that SIlentPatch improves the game at 60fps. It's relatively good but of course you still have some issues especially that one when can damage vehicles and make their parts fall by sprinting against them.

@The Hero is possible to port the PS2 particle amount to skygfx for GTA3? I mean, on PS2 there are a lot of smoke when you wreck your car or even in vents around the city, if you compare it against Xbox or PC, the amount of smoke is less noticeable.

It certainly does not. It's supposed to fix black car glitch on steam version, although it shouldn't do anything, because it's completely same as both retail and steam txd.

I was pretty sure that it was. But okay. Then the advice is to use the one from LCLF
