It's fine. Default values are already listed beside those lines, in case you wanted to revert this change.

Don't forget to increase the game's brightness as well. That makes so much different, especially with the PS2 color filter.

Oh, and if it wasn't what you're looking for, try replacing the very last line of the INI with this: (radiosityIntensity increased by 30)

radiosityIntensity=65

I probably wouldn't increase the radiosity intensity, the values are the original ones. What might be interesting is setting the radiosity render passes to 2. Since this parameter exists R* probably used it at some point, maybe in some of the pre-release screenshots.

@iiCriminnaaL 49 thanks for the suggestion once again and even though the overall effect looks cool, it's far from being desirable for my setup or tbh from what I was looking. If someone likes the radiosity effect from VCS on the other hand, this setting could be interesting, cause it really reminds me of it somehow.

@The Hero Yeah, everything looks a bit more 'blurry' ao to say, especially that 'ghosting' effect or what ever it's called which now appears more prominent (seen on poles for example). I always liked that, don't know why, lol. But, ofc, as you already put it, that won't produce 'trails' in sense of GTA III or VC or emulate CRT behaviour in any way.

EDIT: after playing for a while and even thoug that particular setting (RadiosityRenderPasses)set to '1' probably resemblance the exact PS2 setting, I'd say for someone that want to emulate PS2 on PC, setting this to '2' might even be better option. The whole 'motion' of things on the screen happens to be closer to PS2 'motion'.

Just to add one more thing, in order to achieve this I set 'Color Multiplier1' to 800.

Thanks guys!

There is also one thing that caught my attention: reaction speed of CRT and modern monitors. Doesn't CRT create more 'ghosting'?

Modern monitors are faster and some have overshoot, which is not fun to play older GTA on it. And via nVidia control panel you can set different colors like ycbr, limited and full.

Nice observation in the lights of the ongoing conversation. Sadly I can't check that out since I have AMD (Mobility) graphics.

Try searching to 'amd limited and full' and also 'amd limited and full rgb'. I got some nice sites to know more about:

https://pcmonitors.info/articles/correcting-hdmi-colour-on-nvidia-and-amd-gpus/

https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/ycbcr-4-4-4-or-rgb-full-4-4-4-for-gaming.394560/

And as for your GPU:

https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/DH-007.aspx

I use DVI, which offers Full with good contrast. If I use HDMI, I'll get extreme 'black crush' when using Full. What is black crush?:

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/872173-black-crush-what.html

http://photobucket.com/gallery/http://s211.photobucket.com/user/GamerGuyX_GGX/media/blackcrush.jpg.html?1283500418

However, since you have Mobile AMD GPU, you don't have to use DVI or HDMI unless you connecto your laptop to a TV or monitor but I can't say much about that.

when is it/how to get the over-saturation effect? (or wat ever its called) seen in CRT monitors? (for both VC and SA)

saying coz it looks neat/cool to me, i once saw the effect on a close guys laptop (well he accidently broke the laptops display so he connected a old-CRT monitor from 2000s, but its broke in just 27 hrs due to old-age )

My grass placement is messed up and glitchy. I have grassFixPlacement=1 on my skygfx1.ini yet they appear colliding against walls, trees and the floor. What am I doing wrong?

Ah, that isn't grass, but procobjects. They are placed randomly. I tampered with the random number generator a few times because various people were unhappy with whatever I was doing at the time. The PS2 game probably has a few weirdly placed objects as well. I think we may just have to live with it.

Is there a way to disable the procojects?

I don't think so. Maybe by clearing procobj.dat

@The HeroSay, what about ped glitching stuff? I've found bulidingPipe to be the culprit.

I have no idea. I'm setting it to clip properly, just like the original function and I have not touched the skin pipeline.

No, my PC can run SA at max settings real nicely.

It might be interesting observation, or maybe I'm just blind, but why does gameplay on PS2 seems so fluid and smooth at times - not counting obvious frame dropping due to overwhelming grass and dust 'particles' involvement - unlike any other platform running on 30 FPS?

If I may answer my own question I'd say it's because of the native low resolution of the PS2 ( I assume 640x480 ), and that would be no brainer, but things get even more interesting.

Playing with just a couple of mods enabled ( Skygfx, 2dfx and couple of peds added ) on 720p, there would seem to be certain jerky and choppy feel to it, almost always present and even though I'd receive constant 30 FPS with frame times of regular 33 ms, the game wouldn't feel smooth.

Dialing down to PlayStation's native res or just a bit above (800x600) that smooth feel would appear and it would be present 90 percent of the times.

One nooby question; how can I stretch those low res to full screen? I added Silent widescreen fix and those other mods required (HOR or something like that) but it would only add numerous other resolutions and set my ingame res to my display native res (1080p) without making those low res full screen?

@The Hero

Assuming I've missed something and don't know how to save configuration inside debugmenu I apologize in advance, but setting certain parameters like 'Radiosity Render Passes' from 1 to 2 would always revert itself to 1 upon starting the game, despite even setting it to 2 inside Skygfx ini file.

Then it's very strange, in my case that thing that mentions about deformed Peds only happens on my old PC (which still has an Athlon X2 and a dedicated AMD HD 5450 graphic) and another pair of computers also happened occasionally and in the other one just does not could use Skygfx, in the most modern (An HP All In One Pavilion 23 and an assembly that you buy recently) works perfect, but it is very likely that it is some compatibility problem with your PC or Operating System maybe

It sounds like there is something wrong with clipping, but I just don't understand how this can happen. As I said i'm setting clipping the exact same way as the original code and I don't even touch the skin pipeline, so it shouldn't be different :/ Maybe one could try to force clipping on the skin pipeline.

The peds only deform when the word "buildingPipe" is present in skygfx.ini, all is fine on my PC.

I think the problem lies in the PS2 code you must've ported over.

Try adding trails mod for VC and just set it to ON in III which has it by default. That will recreate that CRT feel to some degree I think.

It could be 'ghosting'. When I could try out a new monitor which was a small one (I just don't want a huge ass monitor in front of my face), it had a VA panel which was specified as 5ms responsetime. When I tried it in reality, it had lots of ghosting but the gameplay felt so smooth despite I was so used to 60FPS and SA runs as 25FPS(?) but I definitely could see a huge difference between the monitor with lots of ghosting and my old monitor which has much lesser ghosting and AMVA+. I also have locked GTAIV on 30 or 35FPS and it ran so smooth too. I loved that monitor, it got the best blacks I've ever seen in my life, colors are almost perfect but I had to return it because there was way too much ghosting, it effected movies too. So got a new monitor since friday and again a difference between the smoothness of the gameplay. But less ghosting and VA and 5ms too.

Could be. I'm really not sure what's the reason behind that smooth appearance of motion on the screen, but I'd say it doesn't have to do with FPS.

Ghosting creates a phenomen like afterimages, so you get multiple blurred images when moving the camera fast. A faster responsetime or better quality monitor reduces and eliminates that problem and therefore, gameplay will not feel smooth on 25-35FPS..

that kind does works (without that Trails mod,(i did not test/get that mod)), but still not the same effect as seen with a human eye

dudeaskingquestions

Okay, so assuming there are no updates (downloaded the link on the first page) I placed the colorcycle.dat in my data folder and dropped the other files on the GTA SA root directory.

I also dropped the SAMP Graphics Restore file in the root directory. However, when I scroll through F-10 while on my SA;MP, it crashes. It goes from the PS2 graphics to normal, then when it supposed to turn to the third one, it crashes.

All the time. Would love an opinion. HMU if I did any of these wrong.
