SkyGfx: PS2, Xbox and Mobile graphics for PC

Kane, really curious, but do you have the seabed.ipl with the timecyc modifiers? That's what's needed for that extra boost of colour change.

All the screenshots from that gallery were taken from the PC version with (an older version of) skygfx.

Can you boost the atmosphere's power in the next release? (I know that it wouldn't be really soon as well)

Maybe by %40, with a little brightness touch on the atmosphere itself. It looked cool and classic in that gallery I quoted from the main page (taken from an older SkyGfx version).

It can be in another option (colorfilter=PS2Boosted?), so people can choose between the boosted one and the default one.

I used to think that PS2's version is so brighty and colorul, but I realized that I used to play (as well as many GTA SA players, lol, you can see that in YouTube for example) while TV settings were set to high brightness and strong colors, lol, what a mess. But that was so enjoyable and gives special feeling.

Anyway, edited, it can be in another option, so people can choose between them.

It's The Hero's choice at the end, of course.

A choice he won't do, you didn't answer my question, have you got the changed seabed.ipl? That's another thing which boosts and additional layer of colour filtering, if you're missing that, that's what you might be noticing.

Outside of that, just change your monitor settings to increase saturation, you're asking us to do something based off your nostalgia which seems weird when the accurate PS2 filter is already there.

PS: Stop requesting things that ONLY benefit you.

Or edit the timecyc if you don't like how it looks. The way it is now is definitely as accurate as it can get.

I think your problem is indeed the monitor settings. I know I thought I was missing something about the PS2 video output but in the end it just comes down to how the (analog!) video signal is interpreted and displayed by the monitor. Maybe normal PC screens tend to have different settings than old CRT TVs.

In fact I did implement another post processing filter at some point (I think it's still in the code) that could basically be used similar to gimp's curve tool to do some color correction. I'm not completely against the idea of finishing it and putting it into the release, but it's not a priority for me. Please play with your screen settings first and, as ASH said, install seabed.ipl if you haven't done so already. Due to the lower draw distance you get more fog and hence a more colorful atmosphere.

And guys, please stop saying XYZ is my choice. Of course it's my choice, it's my mod. If you think something is missing, feel free to modify the source and make your own version. And if you think that change should be merged into the official release, make a pull request on github.

Links to my server should work again. It was a DNS problem, weird.

Yeah, I already have PS2 seabed. I've increased the color's saturation too, but that isn't what I want, it increases color of everything, while I want to only increase the color of the atmosphere, cuz it looks ugly when the whole game looks colorful.

You could try VCS trails, might give you what you're looking for.

Kinda, if's weaker, it would be enough.

I can't decrease its power, right? Tried to edit those limits, but that didn't help.

Maybe, just maybe, you're remembering things wrong? It's pretty much identical to the PS2 here in terms of rendering post fx, so, yeah, even comparing to emulation, and shots from PS4 version (which is upscaled emulated PS2).

I dunno, but I don't find my game's atmosphere as strong as ones I see in pics. Somebody made a comparion between PS2 and SkyGfx's atmosphere in his game, atmo looked better than in my game. I remember when I used to play on PS2, I thought Ballas were wearing red, not purple, due to the atmosphere's high power.

I don't know what's wrong, as I've already set the ini in proper settings, weird. (anyone knows a mod that converts VC trails for SA? Not sure if there's any. Would fill what I'm looking for.)

OK, even back in the day, this was never the case, sounds like you had a faulty TV set up overblowing colours :p

Yeah there's one, SkyGFX.

A very old and nostalgic post showing the graphic comparison when skygfx was in the beginning... I don't know what's missing, skygfx and PS2 are almost identical (or they are now?).

Posted 08 October 2014 - 02:39 AM

Here is a comparison of the beginning of the game at ~6:53. They are in order: unprocessed, PC post processing, PS2 (my post processing plugin) and a screenshot from PCSX2:

I had no radiosity back then so it's no longer accurate. Also the bug in pcsx2 has been fixed.

A new comparison would be good then?

you can:

trailsLimit= (X) ; default 80

trailsIntensity= (Y) ; default 38

What the hell? Your TV was overpowered color back then. They look purple on my CRT TV, currently.

well PAL vs NTSC is a factor in that color perception as well with PAL obviously being the better choice in that regard.

f*ck. When I press F10 the SA hangs. SkyGfx 3.1.

Crash? Does the previous version work?

In 3.0 there is no crash when pressing F10. In 3.1, I can only play in the graphics PS2.

why don't you just choose the configuration file you want and rename it to skygfx.ini and delete the other ini files ... easy as that.

You could try finding out if switching between inis is actually the problem, or if it's one of the inis that doesn't work for you. If you find it's one of the inis, change the settings until it works and tell me which caused the problem.
