SkyGfx: PS2, Xbox and Mobile graphics for PC

The Hero

Using the PS2 map mod from Hero and the rotor alphas are totally messed up, when i use stock PC dff/txd for helicopters, it's fine but then reflections mess up, or am i missing something, i have SkyGfx/SilentPatch installed (Both on default settings) TwoPassRendering is off in SilentPatch.

eqGcWql.jpg

Urgh, this dreaded sh*t again. Converting the ps2 textures with magictxd would be a good solution i think.

Seems txdconv isn't converting alphas in textures from ps2 to PC txds

I've tried using my own ps2 files as well.

The syntax's i've tried using:

txdconv -9 -v GTASA someps2txd.txd outputpctxd.txd

txdconv -v GTASA someps2txd.txd outputpctxd.txd

So the Hunter (hunter.txd, gta3.img), i showed before was part of the PS2 to PC map converter (http://gtaforums.com/topic/756407-relsa-ps2-to-pc-map-converter) files you distributed (gta3.img). It might be worth checking the original files you zipped up on your end, Hero to see if the alphas are present in the texture(s). Or if txdconv isn't preserving alphas after conversion, or I've f**ked the syntax somehow.

And magictxd doesn't seem to want to play nice either (GTA:SA crashes, even after archive rebuild after trying numerous options)

I could do them manually (Add alphas via TXD workshop) and they'd be fine but that's hundreds of textures (If not more!) as it seems to be present in other textures, this was just an example.

Completely untouched retail PC texture:

QBzDsNX.png

PS2 converted to PC using txdconv (Using aforementioned syntax's):

NjCn5FN.png

NOTE: This is also what the hunter.txd looks like from your gta3.img file you distributed with the ps2 to pc map conversion.

I fixed all PS2 vehicles txd from the PS2 map some time ago, maybe I can post them later.

Eh? I dunno. I only remember the rotors on some aircrafts and some stickers on sports vehicles. Anyway I fixed all at once.

If you could do that, i'd appreciate it and so will others.

EDIT: Managed to do it with txdgen (After a tonne of tinkering), seems to convert alphas as well as textures themselves.

This mod for some reason doesn't like it when I put it in GTA III and GTA VC

For GTA III, it changes the resolution. Changing it causes to crash, but it applied it. When I exit the game, it says "gta3.exe" has stopped working. Tried putting it in the directory instead of "mss", but then it immediately crashes after showing the "GRAND THEFT AUTO III" Splash.

For GTA VC, it also changed the resolution, but this time I can't change them at all, as it will crash before saving the setting. The game also crashes when loading. Putting it in the directory instead of "mss" causes the same thing with the Splash screen.

I am using a vanilla installation of both of them, and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Any help?

Try using it together with Silent patch. Also your exe version matters

I've been trying to increase the grass draw distance, but all I get when increasing the fadedist and fardist values in the ini is an immediate pop in of the grass without fade. I tried using 800 and 500, 300 and 260... Nothing, always the same. Can anybody please help me?

I think 100 is the max allowed grass distance. The highest distance values I could use and still achieve the smooth fading in effect is farDist=80.0 and fadeDist=20.0

Damn. Is there any other mod that can fix this?

Funny thing is that I always use SilentPatch... As for exe version, it's v1.0, as I don't really like to use versions above that (nor does alot of people afaik)

Impossible since Silent did some heavy changes that set it apart from regular SA.

I have a question for The Hero: are these building shadows (Xbox world pipe) stationary or they are relative to the sun?

No lighting on vehicles with xbox reflections compared to PS2 refs :(

It's not finished. If you use the xbox vehicle pipeline they will only get lighting from the sun.

Xbox reflections *are* finished. It's just the way vehicles are rendered on the Xbox. I always had the idea of making my own vehicle pipeline that would basically be PS2 diffuse pass + Xbox specular lighting....some day....

The Hero, can you make dualPassVehicle apply to CCustomCarEnvMapPipeline__CustomPipeRenderCB_exe? (In other words, allow dual pass on the PC vehicle reflections)

Hello, The Hero!

I posted this on SilentPatch topic but got zero response, so I will try it here, if you please :)

I remembered one unpleasant thing about in-game Anti-Aliasing. It makes intro movies black :( It has always been like that.

Is there any chance to have it fixed when you get back to the modding ?

Snowshoe: I guess i can do that when i touch skygfx the next time.

uncaged: I haven't looked at the intro movies but I remember Silent and ASH talking about them and iirc this was a pretty much unfixable problem. So no, I won't fix that. Why do you even care about the intro movies? Go play the game m8!

I think intro movies are more codec related, on my desktop using shark007`s codecs I cant see my gta steam version intro video, on my laptop without any codecs my retail gta games play the videos without any isues, and both PCS have the same mods installed...

Well its hard to explain. I like to rewatch intros of games that I'm currently playing. Sure I can go and watch it from the folder, but... Anyway its good to know for sure that bug is unfixable.

Thank you!
