SkyGfx: PS2 and Xbox graphics for PC

Correct. Only VC has PS2 water (it's not 100% exact but close enough and IMO even a bit better). III has unchanged water. SA has a little fix that seems to get rid of some ugliness but it's not the real ps2 water.

PS2 looking Sky Mod? If its a timecyc then it's an old outdated mod, if you want the ps2 colour filter then just SkyGFX with the ps2 preset ini.

Yeah, I want to have orange sun light on PC version, like from PS2.

The draw distance on default PC game is higher than on PS2. As you may know, even using SkyGFX with PS2 profile, and PS2 timecyc isn't enough to get that famous sun light effect as on PS2. To get it you also need to use the seabed.ipl file from PS2. It has some additional weather values that decrease draw distance, add some more fog effect, but even this won't give you 100% PS2-like sun light because you play on higher resolutions. I almost sure that it will be 99% similar only if you additionally set resolution to 640*480 but it's not good idea.

Actually the big sun light you see is a light scattering (or diffusion). So when you change any draw distance settings - you make that fog to gerenare further and this decreases sun light effect.

So the setting "Sun size" in P2dfx or sun size hack in Silentpatch just increases real sun size but has nothing to do with light effect that you see on PS2.

I don't know if it's possible to make sun light scatter on high draw distances, and AFAIK they tried to do it, and this ended up in sun size hacks.

Something like this.

P.S.

I also like that sun light very much and also like to use higher draw distance with P2dfx, but the best thing (in sense of balance) I've found - is to use P2dfx just to increase generic, normal objects and vegetation draw distance, but leave the whole draw distance unchanged (even commented that lines). So I have pretty far generated trees, lampposts and normal objects (non-lods) hiding in the fog on far distances, but with almost ps2 sun light, and I really like how it looks this way

So i should just replace the pc timecyc with the PS2 one? (extracted from disc). Have done that, game works. When i replace seabed.txt in the modloader folder for the leftoverfixes, VC crashes upon loading.

I was talking about SA, not VC!

Oh ok, how about VC, what should one do to almost match the PS2 versions graphics, beyond default skygfx and leftoverfixes?

Rename colormod.asi to xcolormod.asi. You have to make sure to make colormod to be loaded atleast as last after skygfx is loaded early.

Would it be possible to add mipmapping support to water in SA? I wanted to try experimenting with different textures for each mip level similar to what Super Mario Sunshine does as explained in this video.

Hey everyone, can anyone help me to install this ps2 looking sky mod? When I opened readme, I got completely lost with those dll loaders etc.. If anyone can explain step by step to me, I would be very thankful :)

Now that would be interesting.

Sorry, no. I haven't done anything on gta for like 1½ months. Whenever I do, I get sucked in and have a hard time doing anything else for months. Gotta enjoy my time out of the addiction for some more time, I never know how long it lasts :)

Well, that explains a lot,
Take your time, develop a great project like Skygfx is something that takes time to achieve perfection,
We just hope you do not abandon this project.

Abandoning this project is un-imaginable. Thanks to this project it made me go back to SA modding and still have 3 cars to finish.

I also hope the fire shadows from fire will be added. PS2 got them but they are not there in PC version.

And of course I know how much time it takes, so take your time.

That is in the to-do list from SilentPatch luckily.

Weird bug in VC and SA where there seems to be a texture smoothness problem on the maverick, police maverick and I guess the news maverick.

Strange. I don't see any bug in my pc, and never had it with default or Xbox models in 15 years especially with helicopters. The problems of Skygfx are really few. The most are in VC,  like disabled shadows for characters in the cutscenes, all uncovered whells (and police cars) with specular maps. San Andreas and 3 appears bug free now to me.

Actually, The_Hero himself patched that bug in the latest SkyGFX build. It should be this one here. Just rename the dll extension to asi if you’re using an asi loader.

Now I can enjoy muh dynamic shadows in gameplay eecks dee
