Krysalis
Nice, I agree OP. the Xbox One has better color, some of those Ps4 videos looked "washed out". As far as this video goes, the Xbox one takes the cake. Secondly, its amazing what Last Gen could achieve, very minor differences, sometimes it was hard to tell them apart. While color can be easily adjusted through the settings I don't think alot of people will take the time to sit in front of their TV for 10 minutes trying to get it right, Sony should've probably nailed that down before release. But whats on my head is why does the PS4 have more vegetation? I know that a bunch of people are gonna come at me with "The PS4 is more powerful!" statement but you cant possibility tell me that the Xbox One cant handle a few more plants. Actully Xbox One can't handle a few more plants ahah I disagree with your statement......dun dun dun! PS4 has 2x more shaders dun dun dun
MosquitoSmasher
X1 clearly is the better looking one when it comes to richer colours and yes i know...colours can be adjusted on the tv, but there is also a haze/fog effect over the PS4 version, making it all look slightly more dull. I honestly find it interesting that a console that is apparently 40% more powerful only shows its advantage with some foliage, but not in the framerate at all. In fact, X1 has the edge on that. Trevorphilipjfry
Apart from foliage, (which is a biggie), on the PS4, the Xbone slightly edges in certain areas, colours for example. I'd get an Xbox One personally if I was to get a next gen console, but overall I'd say the PS4 version is better
MosquitoSmasher
@ Nintendofanboy Ok guy, all good with me man. I find it better looking, it clearly does not show that haze/fog on the X1 part, it clearly shows better colours and overall better looking. Let's then look at what DF said about framerate which is also more stable on X1. Me as an X1 owner was afraid that our version would be significantly less stellar than its PS4 counterpart, turns out that is absolutely not the case. So again my friend...i DO find it better looking. And i see plenty of people here do. Try again? Lol. DaRkL3AD3R
Foam looks great here. Now Yeah your realize this shows exactly what I'm talking about right? Last gen foam was residual. This gen it is glued to the top of waves in a thin horizontal strip and doesn't linger like it used to. This makes places like the port harbour area and the Del Perro Pier look like GTA IV water due to lack of surface details. There is an irrefutable difference to the water foam effect from last gen to current. That is all I'm saying. Stop trying to pretend there isn't a difference because it's clear as day and it makes you look like you're either in denial or just a blind fanboy. Evan-KCR
More evidence of water foam nerfing around 6:17. But I'm making it all up, it's all in my head. I was blind during those pre-release screenshots and trailers right? I was delusional? Oh it's okay, it doesn't matter. Just berate me for having an opinion and calling out something that is an honest to god downgrade from last gen. It's okay, your opinion is fact, mine is just the rambling of a picky nut. Carry on. Yes, you are making it all up, and it's all in your head. The weather is different on last gen and new gen. Cannot compare them.
MosquitoSmasher
It however is not just colour settings. The overal picture looks better in that comparison video on Xbox One. X1 doesn't have that haze/fog effect that you can see on the PS4, it's not only colours. At the end of the day, the unexpected happened and that's that the X1 version turned out damn good. After all those other third party games i automatically assumed 900p for X1.
interfreak
As I said on the first page, I have played both side by side - there is NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL in colour or saturation when both consoles are set to full RGB, this is on my Sony KDL60W850B. NO DIFFERENCE. However, the differences I have noticed between the two are: *They both look very simular – but there is a visual advantage to PS4. PS4 seems to have slightly better lighting, more pronounced foliage, and (in my eyes) clothing detail. *Frame rate appears to be very close. The PS4 again has a *slight* advantage, as I have noticed the 'juddering' that Digital Foundry talked about with the XB1. It's most noticeable when rotating around your character, or anywhere that the camera rotates fairly quick. HOWEVER; *The XB1 seems to handle driving fast through traffic better than PS4. There is noticeable judder/dropped frames on PS4 in this scenario, XB1 is almost always 'smoother' in this regard. *One odd thing I've noticed when driving in the grass...On XB1, it seems to stutter a bit more (frame drops?) when driving around in it, the PS4 doesn't do this at all. *The PS4'S initial loading screen (with the sirens and Rockstar logos) is noticeably choppier than XB1, not sure why that is. PS4 is quicker to load SP (both consoles have the standard HDD) by about 10-15 seconds. (initially I observed XB1 to be quicker, but with the latest patch the advantage goes to PS4). *The XB1's controller feels a bit more responsive that the DS4, although adjusting the sensitivity in game for the DS4 largely eliminates the advantage to XB1. *Online with both has improved after early issues, PS4 perhaps has fallen a bit behind here for me though. It's not unusual for me to go into a lobby by myself or simply time out. Having said that, I do notice that PS4 lobbies are a bit less laggy than XB1 ones. Its pretty much the same as Xbox One except that it has more foliage, and the loading times are slightly faster by 2-5 seconds. But there's not a significant gap between both apart from foliage.

Relative007
So we're comparing a 1080p game in YT compressed 720p quality? No comment. Precisely. Either way PS3/360 and PS4/Xbone have different Native resolutions so comparing them in general is haphazard as the quality of either combination will be affected by the viewing resolution. Comparing PS4/Xbone is also not particularly informative unless the output settings from the console and those on the viewing screen are identical otherwise you are presenting two different looking games from the start. I've seen both next gen versions and didn't see any noticeable difference in saturation. Are you sure they had the brightness turned up or filmed this during a different time of day? In all comparison Videos I have seen so far (not just GTA V), PS4 and PC always look similar (in terms of saturation, lighting etc, just with PC having better graphics) and Xbone looks Darker...It must be due to the settings automatically selected by the Xbone, unless I am missing something. 05-BROCKY-05
Once Full RGB is set on the PS4, it fixes the contrast issues completely. I too thought the xbone had better colours until i changed my ps4 to full rgb, now the colours are the same. As for people saying the vid doesnt look anything like their tv, it never will. Every screen you watch the vid on will change, and every screen you play the game on will look different. Cr!minal
Most of people here seem to have no idea about correct TV settings (that ain't default). If TV and console are both correctly set up there should be indistinguishable difference between limited range and full range picture. That "more contrasty" look people are touting when switching to full range is nothing more than black crush (that can be avoided by telling TV to expect full range - if TV actually supports that). On calibrated set game should look equal on both occasions. Racket89

Assifuah
You can only really compare the obvious features like more vegetation, missing wind, nerfed foam, render distance and puddles in the rain. Due to the fact that it's a compressed quality video you can't make statements such as it looks sharper, one has a richer picture etc. Everyone's TV / monitor colour settings like saturation, contrast etc will be different. Something that looks like it pops to you might look average to others. I watched this on my monitor and I noticed that the dirt / sand roads on the helicopter fly over on the X1 version were way too f*cking bright as if they were reflecting sunlight - I didn't see any tracks just a sandy looking strip that streched along a path. On the other versions I could actually see the dirt track / trail left by vehicles and it was a much easier image to look at. Again, they were compared after each other and not side by side on that scene so it could result in my monitor settings. What I don't is understand the attitude people have with more foliage. "Oh it's just a bit of more grass, who cares". Well clearly, Rockstar f*cking cared when they left it toned down for the X1 version. They don't just magically think let's make this version better than the other (unless this is some top Sony conspiracy, huehuehue) but there are obviously reasons due to hardware limitation. Personally, I'd take the "washed out" PS4 version. I've seen it and it looks decent irl - I haven't seen an X1 version played however but if it's to go by all the comments and video I don't want my game to look like a one clip edit of a Call of Duty 4 triple headshot on Showdown from 2008.
