Standing on the sides of a car?

So i was checking out some GTA V clips in the upload app on Xbox One and i see this clip where a few people in GTAO standing on the sides of a car, while another player is driving. How is this done and can we actually do this in singleplayer too when we get to switch between the characters?

You can stand in the Side Steps of the Granger and the Roosevelt in GTA Online. In GTA V it will be more tough because usually in order to stand on the steps of the cars, the four seats inside the cars need to be filled up, and with only 3 Protagonists, you can't fill up enough space for the characters to stand on the outside.
