I did a little digging and didn't see anyone mention this, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's just me...

 

I was milling about in free roam as usual minding my own business. I decided to stop by the clothing store to change my outfit, but notice a white dot inside. I figure it's best to err on the side of caution so drive around a bit. I go back to the store and the guy is still there. DAFUQ. I figure, "f*ck it, if he tries me, I'll just kill him." I go in and he doesn't, but the store isn't "activated". The clerk isn't there so I can't do anything inside. I walk outside and back in. No change. I figure it has something to do with the AFK idiot idling inside the store.

 

I drive off in disgust. I'm flying down the street when it occurs to me that there's no traffic (aside from the distant "trick traffic" that makes it seem like the world is more active than it really is). I hear cars in the distance, but the streets are deserted. I pull up my mini-map and there are players in the room. At least 20 of them... I wonder if they're having the same issue. Then I notice that none of them are moving. All of their dots are stationary. I go back to the clothing store and the idiot is still standing there. I attempt to pull up my weapon wheel on a whim and it comes up. Inside the store. I put one in his head. No notification about killing anyone. What's more his corpse falls to the floor and lays there looking ahead and blinking. Creepy. I toss a grenade at his prone body, completely forgetting about splash damage for a moment, and kill myself. I go back inside after respawning and he's still lying there blinking.

 

I track down the next nearest dot. He's standing at a terminal in the subway. I kill him and the same thing happens. He dies blinking and staring at the ceiling. The next nearest dot is a friend so I head his way. As I get closer, I hear gunfire... "Awesome. The zombie apocalypse has begun, and the homie is holding it down," I think to myself. I pull up and get out. He's frozen in place, his automatic shotgun firing round after round at a white dot that's invisible. I walk in front of his weapon and there's no effect. I try punching him out of the animation (I don't like killing friends), but there's no effect. So I kill him. And, like the others, he lays there blinking his eyes. I hop back in my car and drive through the white dot, at which point whoever my friend was shooting at materializes long enough to bounce off my hood before disappearing again...

 

At a loss as to how to fix this predicament (and evade the Langoliers that must be lurking in the shadows at this point),I go to put my car back in my garage, but the entire map is dead. My garage door opens and I can drive in, but nothing happens. I just sit there on the other side of the door. I find a new session and everything is back to normal. I thought it was pretty damned weird, but just a fluke. Until today, when it happened again...

 

Has this happened to anyone else?

Connection issues. As when experimenting with a lagswitch the same result occurs. So basically, they were there but you timed out and the console has not fully registered what the f*ck has happened yet.

 

New Gen I presume?

i loathe people that do that. only thing funnier than the cheap kill they get is when said victim respawns, blows up their car, and spawnkills them.

The way you described it made it a bit creepy, good job. I would rather this happen to me than the empty lobbies i always seem to be put in.

Yeah. On old gen, the entire lobby would drop and all the dots would disappear... The new gen brings new quirks.

Today I had the entire lobby basically EMP'd. All the police helicopters fell out of the sky and would fly/drive erratically on the roads. Pretty funny. Saw some floating trucks too. Was weird as f*ck then lost connection a few mins later.

GTA:O is completely broken for a lot of people right now. Rockstar will fix it, and hopefully there will be some form of compensation for the time lost (I AM paying for PS+ after all, just for this game really). Another $500k bonus sounds about right.

No there doesn't need to be compensation, why must everyone cry for compensation because something isn't 100% for a short amount of time? It's pathetic

Crazy sh*t like like this on ps4 24 hours a day. Players dissapearing, player lists jumping from 5 players to 20 and back to 5 within seconds with no joining or leaving notifications. Players reappearing in front of you like time traveling freaks. Its majorly messed up man.

wow nice way of describing a common connection issue...

 

that happen to me sometimes(ps3), when it happens it can pass some 2-3minutes before all the players "leave at once"

short amount of time? Im on 6 days and counting with this crap. This or disconnections is what greets me everytime I try to play online.

Yup.

Great video,that's a typical ps4 session.. Just stuffed up 100% all the time. This game wasn't ready for release. (Again).

Yeah, had exactly this situation last night.

 

I was up on the Arcadian building, watching the map, wondering why no one was moving. I floated down to a blip and he was just sitting motionless in his car.

 

All the NPC cars in the vicinity were abandoned, strewn around the roads, some with the drivers' doors left open.

 

I was unable to get into a car. I just put my hand on the door handle and sort of froze there for a few seconds each time.

 

Then I called up a menu and everything froze dead. I had to restart.

it appears same happend as early GTAO ( old gen ) shortly it's launch causes bizzare bugs
