you're way too easily offended.

I would hate to have a drink with you and talk about anything.

Who said I was offended? :wtf:

You being retarded doesn't really offend me.

I would hate to meet you ever.

...Alright.

Anyone else think this is ugly as sin? I watch the sales in my zip code pretty close and I laughed when this thing popped up. You know I can't quite put my finger on what changed between the 07 and the 08 or the 07 and the 06 but it really seems something went worse...and the matte gray is just a weird choice IMO. The darkest color I think any porsche belongs in is Navy but to each his own.

I'd bet that's a vinyl wrap, which might have some unscathed paint underneath...

Or it might be a mess hidden under vinyl.

The matte finish doesn't really do it for this car (or most cars), it makes it look cheap.

Porsche's look so nice in black though, so I can't agree with you fully.

dang that would be a sweet comeback if we were in high school.

I mean you're the one who came in here to sh*tpost behind me, adding literally nothing to the conversation. but ok.

I watch the sales in my zip code pretty close and I laughed when this thing popped up.

why; what is the asking price?

and yes that thing is gorgeous.

if you were going to consider it, matte tends to look better on Porsche than most other coupes especially when matched to the wheels. normally I'm not a huge fan of matte in general. but Navy is a beautiful choice too, and honestly one of the few colors I would ever consider on the little stallion; Navy or black. a crimson red is probably the lightest I would go on any Porsche and even then it wouldn't really look right.

a lot people like the silver / cobalt / graphite Porsche.

but something about the Porsche just needs to be dark and deep and prowling, you know.

Asking price was 28. I just prefer the plain navy to anything so grim. Gotta let a sports car shine, is my rationale, but not too bright (yellows and reds are too flashy). So I prefer darker shades classic paint and anything gray green or dark gray to me makes it lose a certain luster. I think bimmers or mercedes look great in neutral colors. I just think a porsche should pop more with some flavor. My ideal:

Matte black paint + gloss black wheels looks so sh*t. Black wheels only work with bright paint.

I am not a fan of matte regardless, but I agree 100% that it is very stupid to match them with gloss black wheels.

Black wheels can also work with metallic gunmetal grey in my opinion.

I used to hate black wheels until I figured out that if you want any decent grippy brake pad, it's probably going to dust a sh*tton, and thus you're going to have to have dark wheels to hide the dust (whether it be grey, black, gunmetal, etc) unless you just feel like cleaning them constantly.

Scratch that...we got the Cayman. I'm getting it monday. It's 2008 base, black, 911 wheels. Black interior. No nav but that's fine by me. Mileage is 50k. I'll put up a pic of me around town when I get it :)

08 so post bore score, base is fine performance wise but keep an eye out for genuine Porsche sports exhausts. They really do sound great.

You're taking one mans (admittedly horrible) experience with his P-Car and applying it to all. I will have you know that I daily my 997.2 and apart from problems arising from my own actions (such as having the side indicator pop out during some particularly strenuous powersliding), the car has never failed me. Porsches are bloody f*cking marvelous cars, and although I am now looking to change it up to a late model Gallardo, I know in my heart I will end up back in a 911 down the road. The 911 is, overall, the best car for any occasion.

Correction, Porsches WERE bloody f*cking marvelous cars.

And I'm not considering only one man's experience mate, you are. I'm talking about this:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2584443/Porsche-recalls-latest-911-GT3-models-replace-engines-two-100-000-supercars-catch-fire.html

As well as numerous other recalls as well as dissatisfied customers. Heck I remember there was one guy who got so pissed off at Porsche that he donated his 911 Carrera to a gun club to use for target practice. I believe his exact words were "that's all it's good for".

One of my old college professors also had problems with a 911 Carrera cabrio, in fact I think he's the one who opened my eyes on this matter, I used to love Porsche cars.

Way I see it, Porsche doesn't make sports cars anymore. They just make chassis for RUF to build real sportscars on.

Yes the GT3 had teething problems and had to be recalled because of engine fire risk. The Gallardo had to be recalled because it leaked power steering fluid which could've also started an engine fire, the R8 also had to be recalled due to some leak, the 458 because of a trunk release mechanism design flaw. So what's your point? Porsche nipped the problem in the bud by recalling all the GT3s and replaced all the engines. Sounds like a pretty positive thing to me. You also mention some guy donating his Carrera to firing range because he was fed up with it, well buddy, sh*t happens. Deal with it.

Utter dross, barely coherent rambling backed up with a Daily Wail link.

Let's take an actual empirical measure of owner satisfaction like the JD Power survey:

http://www.autonews.com/article/20130724/RETAIL03/130729951/porsche-nabs-9th-straight-title-in-j.d.-power-new-model-satisfaction

http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=713

Oh yes, they're so bad they keep winning the JD Power new car satisfaction awards. They must be awful mustn't they?

Way I see it, Porsche doesn't make sports cars anymore. They just make chassis for RUF to build real sportscars on.

Well good for you. Not that it really matters "which way you see it" because you're pretty much clueless. Hence why you compare a bespoke builder with production figures in the hundreds to a multinational marque with sales in the hundreds of thousands.

Not defending the tirade on Porsche, but it is worth noting that many of the brands with the highest satisfaction ratings in that survey are also in the bottom 10 for engine reliability (source Warranty Direct claims in 2013):

2. Audi (failure rate: 1 in 27)

3. Mini (failure rate: 1 in 40)

7. BMW (failure rate: 1 in 45)

9. Volkswagen (failure rate: 1 in 52)

Of course these figures are subject to the cars' ages and treatment which will vary from brand to brand, but I would rank reliability as one of the leading concerns for anyone buying a car, which is not heavily factored in JD Power's reworked rating system.

I'm not here to be your mother, you already have one to do that, but remember in the US car insurance rates are insane for young people, and even higher for sports cars driven by young people. Choose carefully so that the insurance companies don't rob you for having a sports car at a young age. I'm not sure how high insurance rates in Tennessee are, but if they're anything like FL, you'll be spending the value of your car in a few years. If you need to get a Porsche, make sure it's older, but not old enough to qualify for collectible car status and add another factor to your premium.

Lies, you are here to be his mother....

Anyway, if you can pay for an expensive sport car, you should be able to pay high insurance costs just fine. Besides, young people often crash a lot. There is a reason they have to pay more.

That being said, i wouldn't even consider a Porsche, not even if i had the money. Custom car high performance>stock sport car from a shop. Just my opinion.

In my state, car insurance premiums for a young adult (especially under 21) in a normal used 4 door car runs around $3-4,000 a year.

Well I hope the OP listens to your totally objective and not at all biased "opinions" and buys a new Porsche. Hopefully he'll become a statistic and I will have made my point.

Except that has nothing to do with either link I posted. But nice of you to come back and continue to make a tit of yourself for our amusement instead of crawling back under whatever rock you came out from at the first sign of resistance to your stupidity.

Well I hope the OP listens to your totally objective and not at all biased "opinions"

Opinions by their very nature are subjective, that's why they're opinions and not facts. But in order to allege bias, you have to coherently demonstrate it. Go on then, the floor is yours.

I admit that may have been uncalled for, I shouldn't blame the OP cause Porsche fanboys get butthurt and start spitting all over the place. My bad.

Anyway, you can get a new Porsche for only $30.000 in the US? I mean, that's still $30.000 than it's really worth, but over here the cheapest Cayman is around $40.000 in USD.

EDIT: Prices range from 17.000 Euros for the cheapest first generation 2nd hand Cayman and 40.000 Euros for the newest ones. VAT's a bitch.
