Coin
I think we can stop comparing video games to cancer... Nah, let people continue making the comparison. It makes it easier to identify those worth disregarding entirely. Anyway, perhaps the numbers from The Crew were promising enough for Always Online to be a consideration for them. Or they're taking some inspiration from the Forza series. Here's hoping they relent in this regard though.. Ducard
Wasn't Need for Speed Rivals always online too? That game was/is cracked. Dragon Age and FIFA 15 which used denuvo DRM were also cracked. Just goes to show that DRM is not a good way of combating piracy. Sunrise Driver, BS_BlackScout and Igor Bogdanoff
LightningLord
Wasn't Need for Speed Rivals always online too? Sort of. There was a mode to have multiplayer with the single player story, but it was optional. I personally wasn't a big fan of it in Rivals because of insane lag and connectivity issues, so I had it off most of the time. But with this new Need for Speed game, Internet connection is required. Need for Speed Rivals wasn't always online. This new Need for Speed is.
nath22
The way I see it, if you own a console/pc/smartphone, you should always have internet running to it. Its the modern age, not the stone age. I'm not saying your other bills you pay every month isn't important. But if you can't afford a year's worth of Live/PSN or fast internet, your not going to have fun these next few years because thats all there will be. Now, if the town you live in doesn't offer great, fast internet, I do understand, and I really do feel for you. But the ones complaining about it just because they feel they shouldn't have to or can't afford it, you shouldn't even own either console. I mean you threw money down to buy the console, right? Complain about something else, like a broken game for instance. Do we need to have Welfare for gamers now too? Terrible post. How old are you? †Tyranick†™
This is porbably worth mentioning again. The issues is not completely with the always online, cost for live if you are playing it on xbox and that sorta thing, it's the issues with the servers. NFS:U2 remains still, so popular, along with MW 05 and Carbon, because you can still play and 100% complete the games without the EA servers, hell I just recently played through U2 again and it was brilliant fun. This for me, is the biggest issue of all, that in a few years times, IF...if...the game turns out overall to be amazing and worth revisiting, we'll no longer be able to come back to it (let alone mod the game on PC) because EA would of shut the servers down. I have absolutely no idea why they can't allow us to do 100% of the single player entirely offline. Their justification is neglible as they are putting behind it...subjective reasoning which is ludicrous! You are supposed to always remain objective, the fact they are saying and I quote: "NFS will require an online connection, but the benefits are nice. More variety and a more rewarding experience with friends." umm...yeah, you can't say that, that is entirely subjective. I don't want to play online with friends or random strangers joining my game, are they incable of using this thing called...AI? Or the Forza drivatar system which works offline too? I want to have faith in this game, but at the moment...nope! For more reason than this mind you, part of me thinks this game is going be an up res'd "no limits" mobile game with pretty much copy and paste content from the mobile game. turbocharger
I just can't see why are they putting their asses on the line when their asses are already there? Why gamble when they can go with a no-failure, well grounded and 100% working method? Always online thing is definitely a miss, so hopefully it'll get removed. Now that got me thinking, is that possible at this point in the first place? From what I understood, that feature is deeply implemented in the game, considering it interferes with the single player career/campaign - which all means that removing it would demand redesigning and changing the concept of the whole thing. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, if the always online thingy gets cut out, we'll probably get a delay. Well, if that would make the game playable, the delay wouldn't be far from desirable. They tried that bullsh*t argument with Sim City and it wasn't true. You can't trust EA. They have an incentive to lie about this. It's in their interest to make people accept always online as inevitable. All we have to do is ignore always online games and they'll have to patch that sh*t out. TheMcSame
All we have to do is ignore always online games and they'll have to patch that sh*t out. I can see it now... Need for Speed patch removes always online despite EA's claims *reads article* Some guy from EA: "We saw that this didn't work for SimCity but we decided to try it again with Need for Speed, unfortunately it didn't work out, I think we might have innovated too much and the players weren't ready for it just yet..." MyName'sJeff
Can't see any vinyls and neons as far as I'm concerned. Maybe they didn't put it on this car, who knows. But if there is only limited amounts of customization in this game, then EA have sh*tted on the originals that bought the franchise where it is now. f*ck EA. Creed Bratton
Need for Speed isn't relevant anymore. It's only a matter of time before a smaller studio comes out to do what EA seems unable or unwilling to do. Just like Sim City vs Cities: Skyline. EA wants to sell NFS on its name alone. Same with Battlefront. Same with Battlefield (which is why they didn't bother finishing BF4). Same with Dead Space 3 and Mass Effect 3. They keep making sequels sh*ttier and sh*ttier until people get sick of them. Then they most likely sack the studio and start all over again. Why not simply ignore the f*ckers and save yourself the time, money and energy? Edited June 10, 2015 by The Yokel
Tchuck
No cockpit view? Really? That's my favourite view, as it gives me the immersion and allows me to better control my car. Hate when they replace it with the "front view" where you're basically a camera running through the stage. Lame. Why would you want to restrict different options if it only adds variety to the game? There's no excuse for that. There's so many people that wants to use the cockpit view, the front view or all the options that are available in the game to use, so this is just blasphemy.
